I don't get it, you have a great game yet 90% of the players seem to want to play CS. There is a bloke with me on Vent who snipes, he doesn't play Bf2 just wants to shoot people.

The other night we were on Oman and I said to him as he was doing his thing on the building site 'Cap the flag m8'.

'I'll give away my position then' came the reply.

wtf?

The only time he gets anything like a decent score is on City maps so I ask him what he does when he see's a tank 'Run away'.

Half the time I hope I can't get on the same team as him.

Well you asked for it. I looked at your stats. Your k/d ratio is 0.64, your accuracy with sniper rifles is amazingly low. I guess your not the one to make snipers look good. Sorry no offense intended.

I didn't pimp my KD ratio bro, its my teamplay yo, my TEAMPLAY! I run around a kill people on the streets, I don't hide in bushes. I play the SVD the way it was intentionally designed, as a long range squad support weapon, using aimed direct fire to provide cover for my squad.

Ok I change my mind RingPirate. Snipers are all pr*cks who need a good knifing and teabagging to boot!!

When my squad is facing down an APC and some noob spawns as sniper I wanna TK him to teach him a lesson.

That about sums up why I hate 'em: useless.

That would be Combat, killing people and such. Teamplay is capturing flags, supply ammo, heal and revive, repair, and defending the flag.

I was not bragging that I am an ultra deadly sniper whom all other players must fear and run from. I was simply stating that I am sniper (more often than not) and that I do play as a team member. Your attitudes make me thing that secretly, in your heart, your a sniper too.

We'll settle this in BF2 my sardonic friend....

Why do people hate snipers so much?

Granted ive only got a few posts under my belt, but in pretty much every single thread, i have seen someone say they hate snipers, that they knife snipers, that snipers suck.

I play pretty much solely as sniper, its a class that i am trying to hone down to perfection. I'm not going to brag, but i dont see myself as a bad player, and most snipers i meet i can kill with one HS.

Is it the long range shots that bother you, or the insta kills? Or is it the fact that some snipers sit like morons in a bush 3 miles away, and get their 2 kills for the round. If it is the latter, i would just like to say not all snipers are like this, some of them do attack, and some even cap flags (bazai with knife for me :p ). So before you take the ****, please remember that not all snipers are nubs.

I don't mind being killed by a long range one shot. What I hate is the claymores. Claymore is a very low, coward's punch, if you ask me.
Also, what's more frustrating than telling your last surviver on your team (which happens to be the sniper) to cap a flag, or at least create a squad so the rest of the team can respawn on him, and he keeps ignoring you, hiding in his stupid bush and waiting for his stupid shot, so he can finish the round with 10 points instead of 8.

I don't have a serious grudge towards snipers but it sure is annoying (and happens alot) that too many people are snipers. Makes no sence when noone is advancing towards a flag!

And you mustve been in a game where there are no more bases for you to spawn (no more flags) and all the remaining players are snipers!!

IMO most people hate snipers because a poor, defenseless sniper killed him. LOL.

heh... seems snipers have it bad rep wise in most FPS`s that I've played.

In TFC they were constantly reemed for taking grenade packs that were "better used" by the soldiers and meds/scouts. Anyone who's played CS knows that the AWP is the reason snipers are hated there (1-shot kill to the foot anyone?), most ppl respected a good Scout rifle user however. And it looks as if there is no escape from the sniper h8 here in BF2. I feel sorry for you sniper lads... that is until I step on your blasted claymore.

Seriously, the post 1.2 claymores are whats "killing the class" so to speak. I bet that if you made claymores take you down to 2 bars of health like your rifles, the sniper h8 would recede abit. Noone likes dying to em, or respects the person who laid them. I never catch myself mumbling, "Wow that was a skilled sniper who laid that claymore. Good shot!" like I do when I'm pwnd by... lets say a M16 or an RPK.

I hate snipers because:
#1. They stand up in the middle of the street thinking they're invincible with their mighty L96A1.

#2. They hide in the corner of a map picking their asses and ending the game with 2 kills.

#3. They use claymores as close-range makeshift grenade launchers.

#4. They don't cap flags and yell at those who do cap flags "Why are you guys capping the flags? It barely gives you any points" cause then they can't spawn camp anymore.

#5. Most of them suck, although there are some good ones that can own an assault guy.

The sniper kit is the kit that all newer players go for. Its the same as with any game almost. And to be honest, most accomplished players play mainly with a kit other than sniper.

I think the simple reason sniper's are hated is because the more of them any given side has, the more likely they are going to lose.

Simple, cut, plain and dry. Sniper's are not very good flag assaulters. Defenders maybe (Only because of the Idiotic implementation of Claymores), but assaulters... no. Not even close. They aren't even as good as an Assault Kit only using his pistol. They just don't do well at it.

Now. Sure, sniper's have a place on the BattleField when they are used "Wisely", but I say more than 4 Snipers Per 64-Man Server Side is a waste. People in BF2 are "VERY" wastefull.

It all depends what kind of sniper you are.

If your the sniper who will go around with a full squad to take out long range targets then your a team player

if your the sniper who makes the "sniper" locked squad and does nothoing but camp a roof top all game then your pretty useless.

I tend to help my team by following the sqauds and taking out other snipers or gunners on vodniks etc...
putting claymores at entrances to flaggs :laugh:
