When I'm "squad sniping" my teamwork score gets pretty close to my combat score. I love getting my wife 4 kills in a row by wounding everyone guarding a flag, and letting her roll up with a pkm and some grenades. Makes her feel better, and I get 4 kill damage assists. That and strategic placement of claymores (being a sneaky bastard) usually gets me a defended flag point from time to time. Have to be sneaky to avoid vehicles from wasting your mines...

I generally play sniper to show the newbie snipers how it's meant to be done.

I also like the ability to zoom in and clip hummer or vodnik gunners who are spawn camping or trying a massed AA stand.

However with your supressed pistol, grenades, claymores and long sprint, you are actually a pretty versatile killing machine, in the right spot.

Now I'm not saying there aren't better outfits there, but a sniper can be quite useful, especially if the other team has a couple of half decent snipers or a well emplaced support guy.

Sometimes having someone who can do 90+pts of damage NOT run up to the flag like a lemming, but sit back and watch the spawn points, can be a good thing.

I wouldnt mind claymores as much if there was a way you could disarm them.
I suggest the engie can remove claymores and C4. Just like in 42, the other guy would drop x-packs and I would pick them up before he could blow them. It would sure make the engie class alot more usefull, and cut down on C4 and claymore spamming.

Not all snipers do as what many of you are saying. As a sniper, I'm often a squad leader. I remain a safe distance away from a flag capture. My team spawns on me and goes in to cap. I stay in place and snipe any enemy reinforcements trying to take them out. If they die, they can simply respawn at me safely and rush in again. I can also snipe any other snipers guarding the flag, and I can put down claymores to protect our forward base that we're spawning from.

Once the flag is neutral, I then run in to help take the flag...since there will be no more enemy spawners to reinforce the flag.

@ -=TxG=-Phoenix Thats ok But like I allready posted in another thread, cannt find it that quickly (sorry), I usually team up with the losing side by choice. That might sound strange to most peeps here, but I think its more of a challenge to help out a team thats under pressure of losing the round than join a winning team. So picking me out of the 100+ snipers that are decent in this game I might not be the best example for your argument.
Also I have been practicing a lot of long and extreme long sniping the last couple of months. So my KPM have dropped significantly.

To all the haters out there I would just like to say that its not the Sniper kit which should be hated but the players that use it to no effect in the game. They are the same people that whore up the first flag at Karkand in an APC without moving on to the factory / train accident. Or the lamers that keep on pounding the TV Tower in Sharqi with the MEC chopper, where they should be breaking defensive strongholds at the front or knocking out armor.

So in short dont hate ALL the snipers, but hate the guys you would also hate for the things I just mentioned.

6. Snipers are worthless in CQB

1. Well true they can't give you ammo or revive or repair you, but that's EA's fault. I drive transport to help out.

2. Yo! I be cappin flags, but only with an SVD, otherwise youre dead. You have no defense.

3. Snipers spam claymores two at a time yo! Come on! What else do we have to fight with? A pistol? Your'e just mad becasue you ran all the way across the map just to get blown up by a claymore.

4. Look at my stats. HTU_TheEndofWar has 134 hours as a squad member, and 66 hours as a squad leader. I miss out on those flag cap points becasue I am hiding a bit away, letting guys spawn on me and giving cover fire while they take the flag.

5. Snipers can PWN everyone else, usually before they know it.

6. Well duh!!! Thats not thier role.

7. Sniper class is the favorite of guys trying to get thier Explosives Specialist Badges. Used to be Spec Ops, but oh well. Hate us if it makes you feel better.

Well you asked for it. I looked at your stats. Your k/d ratio is 0.64, your accuracy with sniper rifles is amazingly low. I guess your not the one to make snipers look good. Sorry no offense intended.

People hate snipers cause:

1) People don't like getting killed by something they can't see
2) People get angry when they are about to kill someone else only to get shot by a sniper
3) People are stupid enough to ignore claymores and get blown up by them (when they are placed for a reason, not just spammed)
4) People are stupid enough to get killed by the SAME sniper many a times cause once he takes fire he thinks he can just go prone and be invisible

I'll tell you what - 90% of the whiners that complain about snipers are the ones who are getting their heads blown off by them. I'm tired of people whining about snipers - If used correctly and properly (you idiot snipers who think you can't be seen on rooftops/cranes deserve to get flamed), sniper is a really good kit - Mostly for defending on large area where enemy infantry is coming from and DEFENDING flags. Forget about capturing flags, snipers aren't very good with that due to the close range - Some of you seem to think that capturing flags is everything, I however think you need to be able to defend a flag first before you go capture a flag and move on; only to have it lost to the enemy right after you leave - pointless.

On the flip side, sometimes I get angry at snipers myself, particularly when they are on my OWN team and when they are NOT doing their job (or perching on a rooftop in plain sight you morons), but that can apply for all the other kits as well. Remember, snipers aren't supposed to be SEEN so stop running around and popping up/going prone. Kill someone, move on. Stay ALIVE to avoid ticket loss for your team at least, since you aren't getting any flags. You are supposed to have a decent K/D ratio - one of the main benefits of the kit itself. I say one sniper who is getting 15 kills and 3 deaths who defends a flag 4+ times a round is more of an asset than some assault fella who gets 1 or 2 flags, 15 kills and 13 deaths.

HOWEVER

If they claymore spam in order to get kills and not to protect their rear it does really **** me off.. If only claymores would dissapear if snipers got too far away from them for longer than 10 seconds

Snipers aren't hated, bad snipers are hated, it just seems that all snipers are hated because most people who snipe do it in a way that is not very beneficial to the team, I personally love me some good snipering (unfortunatly there isn't much going on)

A good sniper is an amazing asset in the game. Never undersetimate them. They can take out a couple a guys capping a flag and make the enemy move around trying to be stealthy. Those two bars of health the enemy has left are a constant reminder of their close shave with death.

Yay, I love it when the other team start trying harder not to die, it really helps your own team.

Y has everyone got in their mind that the great wall is a good snipers map... the only reason its good for snipers is so the fact you can claymore spam and occasionally out shoot a FAMAS ( yer right ) or PKM ( In your dreams sunshine) ...
well actually every1 please keep being sniper on great wall bcos ur keeping my 11 kill to 2 death per round kill ratio cheers :P
