Why do people hate snipers so much?

So before you take the ****, please remember that not all snipers are nubs.

its the claymore whoring, the bunny hopping, the fact that theyre too stupid to check that somebody is knifing them every 3 minutes....

ive knifed over 200 snipers in BF2 ranked alone, and hundreds more in BF1942, bf1942 pirates, bf1942 desert combat and bf1942 galactic conquest.

ive played hundreds of hours on every major mod, and the conclusion is that snipers play as sniper because they suck too much to get a half decent score as any normal class.

not only that, but 99 percent of them suck so much they cant even get a decent score as sniper.

ive tried sniping a bit, and its pathetically easy to rack up the kills, even versus enemy snipers. ive never seen a class so uniformally lacking skill, even pkm whores have more skill than these guys.

oh yeah, and they fail to realize that the SVD is obviously the best sniper rifle, pwns the l96, regardless of some stupid reload time...

really, its not like i hate snipers because they hit me, but because they miss, and then dont notice when they're knifed.

for some reason, its more annoying than if they were actually good and shot me a lot...

The reason people hate snipers is because as a class it's a noob magnet. I'm a teacher. Almost every kid I know that plays this game wants to be a sniper. For some reason the idea of sitting on your ass all day picking people off at long range really appeals to 11 year olds.

At least 95% of the snipers I come across are clueless smacktards that never get more than a few kills and never help their team.

Sniper can be an effective class. The problem is that there are such an overwhelming number of people that play it that are clueless fools. It really screws it up for those few that are good and do help their teammates. That is why people hate it so much.

I usually snipe as a squad leader, this means people have an extra spawn -- often behind an enemy base!

Wow thats total prejudice bull$hit.

I consider myself a great sniper (my k/d ratio would be higher, but alot of my kills are pistol kills after 1 shotting someone to chest with m95) and honestly I would own anyone in any map with a mp5 if i wanted to.

yes its true (although I wouldn't say 95%), but saying all snipers suck or that they can't get kills as another class is plain not true.

Snipers may not be as good for physically taking other flags as other kits, but a good 4 or 5 snipers can easily kill anyone defending a flag, and let 2 assault kits or support go and cap the flag.

um alcorr, i have to say that you being a sniper, overestimate the skills of your class.

you might be decent at sniping (although i doubt it). however, that does not change 99 percent from being moronic smacktards who whine and have absolutely no skill whatsoever.

ironically, the best snipers are people who play other classes given a sniper kit, as they perform best every time by far.

ive noticed with guys i play with who play spec ops, support medic or other normal classes, they are amazed at how easy it is to snipe, even though almost all snipers miss and suck anyway. i tried the SVD and L96 for a while and got about 10 kills for 1 death in 20 seconds.... pathetically easy, yet the no skill snipers whine as soon as their claymore is threatened.

Its not 99% that suck its more like 30%, depending on your definition of sucking.

Look I play all classes pretty evenly I feel, maybe ENG is played the least I dunno....

And I can guarantee you, that 90% of the people that rarely snipe, when they pick up a sniper kit, won't get anywhere NEAR as many kills as a regular experienced sniper. Thats just total Bull$hit what you are saying.

Killing someone from 30 yards with a PKM or g36 is WAY different than headshotting a sprinting person in midair at fog range with a m95...

Really, you have no idea what you are talking about, so why don't you just stop posting yours senseless posts?

When I play sniper, I don't get all that many kills. I can't lead a moving target, no-scope a guy through a hole the size of a pen-knife from 2000 meters away, or do any of that fancy crap. But I help my team out by doing one thing only- hunting regular snipers. I'm a counter-sniper, usually 95% of my kills from a round are snipers. I move around low to the ground in empty areas, figure out where the enemy snipers are, kill them, and move on. I ensure that my team can move without being subjected to a hail of badly-aimed bullets, which while not extremely lethal can be very annoying.

I think the main reason the Sniper is a particularily loathed class is due in large part to their claymores, early on they were a defensive measure to let the sniper assemble a good defensive position for himself. Now they just serve as a way for some bozo to throw them around a flag in pursuit of easy points.

The other main factor is a lot of snipers constantly spout their greatness to everyone else and make it sound like the rest of the team is composed of Chimpanzees with pellet guns taped to their hands. No one particularily cares if you shoot someone in midair at 1000 meters, we just hope to god you occasionally do more than creep around the edges of the map or zap guys immediately after they spawn.

To the people that actually work as teamplayers I must applaud you, it's a rare sight to see a sniper actually work with a squad. I occasionally used the SVD but when I did try it out I just used it as an accurate squad support rifle (interestingly the exact thing the gun was designed as).

I agree with Intensivecarebear or whoever said that it's easy to Snipe if you are good with other kits. It's even advice to people that like sniping, get the hang of other kits. Particularly Support and Assualt, once you can start picking off headshots with the M16/AK's you will most likely master the Sniper kit if you really want to. In terms of the shooting bit, the real snipers are the ones that can only be killed once they are given 'special attention' by the commander, wether that be from a Scan or artillery.

Call me weird but when i recieve artillery thats only directed towards me and only me it's kinda flattering. Especially since that strike could've/should've been used to take out mass amounts of targets.

That means that you are likely sitting miles away trying to get kills. This rarely helps anyone. A true "assualt sniper" helps his/her squad by following them and hanging behind.

For me i think Sniper kit is a defensive kit, so i mainly cover flags and whatnot. So if i manage to somehow take out a squad capping a flag we own and i get hit with artillery, that usually means that some other squad can cap a flag without the annoying artillery.

Don't get me wrong though, i'm an Assualt kit person, i just play sniper if i feel like chilling. It is an easy kit to use...
