Why do people hate snipers so much?

Granted ive only got a few posts under my belt, but in pretty much every single thread, i have seen someone say they hate snipers, that they knife snipers, that snipers suck.

I play pretty much solely as sniper, its a class that i am trying to hone down to perfection. I'm not going to brag, but i dont see myself as a bad player, and most snipers i meet i can kill with one HS.

Is it the long range shots that bother you, or the insta kills? Or is it the fact that some snipers sit like morons in a bush 3 miles away, and get their 2 kills for the round. If it is the latter, i would just like to say not all snipers are like this, some of them do attack, and some even cap flags (bazai with knife for me :p ). So before you take the ****, please remember that not all snipers are nubs.

try playing on a 40 player server with 10 snipers on 1 team. You'll see why they are hated. They hide somewhere, getting a lucky kill here and there, don't run with their team and help. Die alot, spot something on the map 10 times that none of thier teammates are even close to.

Plus, with a lot of snipers, there's not as many players to help you win. If the other team doesn't have but a few snipers, that's more players actually playing the round. They have more players playing than you, you are screwed.

Not to mention the asstard sniper that thinks he should drive the tank, while an engineer is waiting for it. They bail after 1 tank/at round, get shot instantly (because they're too stupid to at least try the sidearm) and the enemy now has your tank. And proceed to feed you 125mm cannon rounds anally.

The sniper should be a pick up kit (not spawn kit) and only 2 per side. Period. Most of the time a sniper does nothing take up a spot that a good player could be using.

Snipers are a great psycological asset to a team, as they can slow up an enemy quite a bit if they go into sniper paranoia.

However, they are only useful in moderation!!!!

Snipers are generally hated because all the CS players moving to the game think that the M24 is an AWP, and you end up having an obscene amount of snipers on one team, which usually ends in all your flags being capped and a sniper too ignorant to know what's going on :cry:

However, a good sniper can effectively rip apart a camper's next, pin down an opponent, and make them waste soo much time while your team goes for their flags. Think about it, if there's a sniper in your base, are you just gonna run off without him dead? No, you're gonna make sure that ****** pays, until you realize that you spent 10 minutes and 20 deaths looking for someone and now you have no spawnpoints left.

Stop crying over snipers. If you dislike a room because there are so many, "omg fukin noob" Snipers, then go elsewhere. I don't care if there's two or twenty on my team. Doesn't affect how much fun I'm having in the game.

Stop crying over snipers. You dislike them, go someplace else. That's very similar to, you don't like this about my country, then leave it. It's a blindsided kill any discussion argument that's often used by patriots or that kind of dogmatic people.

Here's the thing.

Going to another country: Apply for Passport, Apply for Guest Worker Permit, find a new residence, find a new job, Apply for Citizenship.

Seems like one is much more difficult then the other. It's the same argument some people give when dealing with speeding tickets, etc. "Why are you warning him? Would you warn him if he commited murder?"

A second argument will be that we have no real say in what we think is fair and not fair in the game. Dice/EA has no real commitment to give us a patch to 'fix' anything. If anything, they've turned the game up on it's head, completely different then what it started out in the Demo.

I dont hate snipers, and neither do most people. Its just that the people who do hate snipers are the ones you hear most, and they dont represent all of the BF2 community, only the loud part of it. I just hate the ones that spam the claymores!

I don't get that one. Who is warning who about what? About the speeding ticket he just got? What does that have to do with murder?

I was talking about going against sniper who is not 250 meters away from me.

the point is, whatever the sniper can do, there are other stuff in this game that can do and can do it better.

for example, what keeps most squads terrorized in WWII? Machine gun nests! those delayed more troop movement than snipers can possibly imagine. But most FPS don't have machine gun nest (or any powerful suppressive weapon for that matter).

However, in BF, you got MG turrets, jeeps, LAVs, tanks, helicopters, even BOMBERS. why go sniper?

you may not no that the russians (even after there mother land was flatend by german bombers) used the sniper riffle to deadly effect,whilst defending there city. make every bullit count,that kept alot of germans from taking over.

as for MG turrets,jeeps,i kill them with ease, lets see you take out a MG on a humvie/tank with 1 pkm shot from 250 meters,when you team m8's are getting mowed down,<-sniper is better at doing this ,the victim would have no idea. but if u try it with ur pkm then u will have to be with in 30-50m to even hit but chances are the mg on the humvie will hear and kill you.
why go sniper? A: i like sniping,im good at it.

Beacause they take up slots where real fighters could be playing. They can help the team from time to time, but they often dont IMO. It just seems so wimpy to find the best hiding spot, where no one can see you, leave some claymores to cover your tracks, and just fish.

It wont go away, so it doesnt really matter, but close quarter fighting, in armor or on foot, is what this game is all about to me. Let the fastest smartest fighter win. Not the sneakiest and most afraid to get in the heat of battle.

unless youre on a team witch is full of the best players all day everyday,how do u no that AT,spec ops,eng,assualt are any good at helping the team??

1.there are less snipers in a full server than all the other classes put together!!!
2.^that means there is a higher % of incompatant players that dont help the team or aint that skilled.

so lets not just assume that a sniper does nothing,lots of ppl/kits do nothing

Most Snipers are useless noobs, thats's why it's good they are around because they'll boost your stats. Now when you have to many of those on your team you know you're gonna lose there's no two ways about that. Normaly you can take out a sniper with any weapon if he's far of you can usually avoid him, the only thing that makes snipers noticeable are claymores. Sometimes (depending on the map) you stumble across a good sniper but &#252;ber snipers don't exist.

i play on 64 player servers and the waves of ppl i can take out that are not sniper is usaly very good.

i get in tanks if there avalible,no point looking at it hoping a eng comes along.
why descriminate a sniper for getting in a tank,where does it say only eng can get in ? any class has a right to a tank.as for idots jumping out when hit lol,yeh it happens but not just when a sniper is in the tank.a few times i have knifed a tank and the driver as jumped out thinking its c4,and of course i didnt wait for the eng to appear.

whats with the pick up kit?? its war not base camp training.
maybe we should have a shop in karkand as a uncap for soldiers who want a sniper rifle,hmmm i dont think so.

3 snipers on one team all kill 15 and die 4 times
3 RANDOM kits will die more and make there tickets even out. that they have gained and lost from team.

now thats just a few things that a sniper can do to help the team,any good sniper nows there are more,i.e kill assists=easy work for team,and the famous i just saved youre life shot,that other kits didnt see themself's ect ect.

now i did not include armor /apc/heli/plane as they have a distict advantage over ground troops,that are caping flags.

so all in all snipers are just as good as anyother class,and even better when a good player is using the kit.

The Sniper kit has its place in the game but it shouldnt be used exclusively. You should use the proper kit for the situation. Having twice as many hours with the sniper kit, or any kit for that matter, makes you a one dimensional player. In this game that will cause you to loose many rounds, many many rounds.
If you go back and reread most of the posts in this thread and sub in another kit, it makes just as much sense.
Your team cant win, if everyone is a Spec Ops, thats the Noob class. All you want to do is lone wolf it all the time. Create a squad with one member and lock it. Plant your C-4 wait and hide and hope someone walks by it?
See thats almost word for word what was said about snipers, I just inserted the Spec Ops and thier special Item. I believe the answer is to learn to play several kits, at least 2. So when you need to change you can change and still help kill the enemy. Ok. . . . . . . Red

as for holding up enemies, tanks and MG turrets held up MORE than snipers ever will. Just learn your freaking history.

Also, I am sure as hell that I want a TANK in my side rather than a sniper.

Well, heres my take on the whole "sniper hatred" problem. i have played quite a few online games. No matter wut game it is, most people hate snipers. For the most part i think the majority of gamers feel sniping is a cowardly tactic. That they (non sniper) are out gettin pwned to achieve a goal. an the fact that they are out battlin it out in some way shape or form, and to get killed by some faceless stranger hiding some where as opposed to taken em on face to face. just ticks people off. Thats pretty much it. tho as any sniper knows, its not thier job to battle it out on the front lines. a good sniper on yer team makes everyones job a lot easier. A good opposing sniper makes every ones game a pain in the ass. The n00b snipers are just good knife bait. Now im not gonna tell you im some kinda L337 snipa or anything, cuz i just dont have the patience for it. i'd rather roll around in a tank and shoot snipers off buildings.
Either way snipers are always gonna be hated, just the nature of the game. I 'm just glad they havent given snipers silenced rifles yet, cuz then the hatred would really hit that fan...LOL

Other kits can spot just as much as snipers can because snipers are way far away from any action and commanders are blessed with the scan function and UAV's and a half decent one spots out everything of importance.

Claymores are not an adequate defence of a base considering if a squad is attacking a base where the medic simply revives the downed unit and the squad carries on. I would call c4 a more adequate defence because it does alot more damage then one claymore.

I agree with your next statement the best way to take out a sniper is to snipe him since a snipers world is limited to what he see in his scope if you attack from another angle he wont see you. If you are feeling a little more ambitious you could always run up behind him and use your knife. But a sniper cannot hold back an advancing squad all he can really accomplish is to be a pesky nuissance.

Hardly ever do you see a sniper helping raise a flag, and when winning a round does not depend on your kdr but how well your team plays as a team, having a 15-4 kdr means nothing.

If your team score isnt at least half of your combat score you should probably be considering helping your team out a little more.

Snipers might have their place in bf, although I havent found it yet, but I couldnt see having more then 1 or 2 per team beneficial in a 32 player server.

The only reason I hate snipers is cuz of their claymore whoring. They are simply abusing them. They will put them on every single pasth you're most likely to use them and it's freaking annoying! It's a stupid little girl's game!

When I snipe, I (try to) do it well, I protect the flag if I can, I capture if I can - but I will NEVER leasve a ****ing claymore where people are runing about. Claymores are for ME, to protect myself when I'm trying to snipe someone - if I think there might be danger, I will put a few claymores around me and snipe.

I don't hate snipers, I pity them. Now that the PKM is more accurate than the M95, I'm really sorry for the ambitious sniper.
Most people don't appreciate the sniper because...sniper isn't as helpful as the medic next to you who throws med packs on the ground. And sniper isn't good CQB, meaning the claymores have to be used while attacking an enemy flag.
I was once a sniper. A good one infact. I quit because, the spotting system isn't very good.
