Beacause they take up slots where real fighters could be playing. They can help the team from time to time, but they often dont IMO. It just seems so wimpy to find the best hiding spot, where no one can see you, leave some claymores to cover your tracks, and just fish.

It wont go away, so it doesnt really matter, but close quarter fighting, in armor or on foot, is what this game is all about to me. Let the fastest smartest fighter win. Not the sneakiest and most afraid to get in the heat of battle.

I cant wait to headshot you while you go prone, leaving your head wide open for that shot.

I love seeing dumbasses think they can shoot me a mile off with G36. They go prone, aim it up thinking i wont shoot. BAM, they're gone, either from a nade i lobbed, or from a simple headshot.

Good thing about prone is..... they move less.

it's not that people hate snipers. people hate people who play snipers, lets be clear on this. the sniper class has it's purposes at times. but people who drool over being sniper and acting like it's all that in game is just stupid. 99% of the time another class can do a better job in almost any given scenario.

snipers are put into the game to cater to the freaks that are so damn addicted to the class they can't explain why rationally. "omg HEADSHOT!! BOOM HEADSHOT!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOM HEEEEAAAAAAADSHOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!"

i can not tell you how many times i've been shot out of my chopper and some sniper goes "omgzzz did you just see that!?!?! i killed that pilot!!! oh yeahhhhh!!!!" seriously i think snipers jerk off to **** like that. honestly, i just get back into the heli when it respawns and proceed to take out tanks, apcs, AAs, SAMs, and multiple ground units before something like that happens again. okay. you killed me. yeah. go you. so do ATs, so do SpecOps, so do Assaults. you aren't special. and sitting there just waiting for that "perfect" shot or getting lucky when it happens by is just ridiculous to fawn over it.

oh puhlease. get out of your scope vision and go do something useful like the rest of your team...

I preffer to go around as sniper instead of whoring up the medic or insta proning with the PKM.

As for other classes doing better? BS! sniper has a function too.
How about fixed gun emplacments? The guy up there is raping everything, barely anyone can kill him cos hes far away and keeps hiding. Sniper comes along, and kills him.

What about protecting flags. Snipers help by putting down claymores and stopping people entering through choke points.

And finally, to stop mass infantry advances. Sure the PKM can shoot well from prone, so what. When there are 10 ppl shooting at you, you wont have a chance to go prone. Instead, sniper uses cover to dash out, headshot a guy, and dashes back to cover. Ive seen this tactic decimate entire troop rushes.

The only problems snipers have is IMO Close range, and armoured vehicles and helis.

Jemme101, I’m not picking on you, but you did say you play the sniper kit the most!

If you compare lone wolf sniper stats to someone that plays offensive kits as a team member, you will see very clearly that it is not the sniper kit that wins rounds!

I play as sniper on occasion and I'm fair at it, but it's a class I only play depending on the map and sometimes based on enemy behavior. A problem I have AS a sniper is I'm a one trick pony. I can thin the ranks some but very often I really can't do much about enemy's capping flags, etc. if theres a couple of them or they have a vehicle. Just outgunned. Thus, in real life they are specialists and very few, not like BF2 where they're running all around the place. I don't hate them. I admire any that can hide in offbeat places and be effective, or do a good job countersniping me so I can't do my job. It's as valuable as any of the classes when done correctly. I have capped flags as a sniper, primarily because half the time as soon as we cap, everybody runs off and 2 minutes later an enemy recaps it and I have to decloak and go take it again while the rest of the "team" is running around getting points. I agree that many are lone wolves though and give some of us a bad name.

When I play the game I am always there to be a team player. If all of the flags are gone and I am a sniper I will at least try to get one. Have succeeded many time also. If I die then I know that I went down fighting.

Cool vid, but I think your more of an exception to the rule, than what would be considered a typical sniper! Your the type of snipper I would want on my team :)

I think that you guys are over looking one important fact. Most people who play the sniper kit havent been in the game long (probably around 150 hours or less). It really wouldnt matter what kit they played they wouldnt grasp some of the finer points of using that kit untill they have used it around 60-80 hours. Thats 60-80 hours on one kit. With that, you need experience on the other kits as well to be able to kill those kits regularly. There is a lot more to being a sniper than setting a claymore somewhere and being a good shot. I count on most snipers not knowing this. Usually when I use the sniper kit Im hunting a pesky sniper. I count on him not knowing exactly what he is doing to make the easy kill. A couple of common mistakes are moving around to much while hideing, and not timeing his shots correctly. Its real easy to find a sniper when he is the only one shooting. I believe the moveing around thing explains itself. Snipers are useful but I wouldnt play the kit, or any kit, for the whole round. Would you? . . . . . . .Red

I always spot an enemy before I shoot as a sniper just in case I get shot. That way my team knows where they are. All these complaints are just generalizations. Not every sniper plays like that or are just out for points. The coolest part is when you can kill an enemy trying to C4 your team's tank while he's capping. Or sniping someone about to knife your own guy. Not to mention a hidden sniper can keep a spawn defended almost indefinitely. Well as long as there isn't armor involved... :laugh:

I hate snipers with a passion...only time I will be a sniper is to counter the one that just killed me.

I'm not directing this to the person that posted this, but I absolutely LOVE when people do this. It proves I'm doing my job and I usually end up getting to snipe them again. 90% of the time when someone does this I can sit in the exact same spot I sniped them from, knowing they know where I am, and still kill them. It's lame.

Most Snipers are useless noobs, thats's why it's good they are around because they'll boost your stats. Now when you have to many of those on your team you know you're gonna lose there's no two ways about that. Normaly you can take out a sniper with any weapon if he's far of you can usually avoid him, the only thing that makes snipers noticeable are claymores. Sometimes (depending on the map) you stumble across a good sniper but über snipers don't exist.
