If more experienced players continue to make the new player experience such that we can't even move before we are dead; all that will happen is people will stop playing it and the older players will get even more bored.

Please don't make me go back to playing World of Warcraft.

Stick with it and you'll get improve enough that you won't feel like that for long. When I first started playing this game I was not experienced at playing FPS games online and had the same feeling about it as you did. Many of the better players came to BF2 from other FPS's (like Counterstrike) and took to this like ducks to water. Keep playing and you'll become a duck too.

Simple question for the "Don't rape the uncap" crowd. Let's say you are playing on 64 player Dragon Valley. You are US and have either the Cobra or F-35. You fly over the Chinese airfield and see a guy running toward either a J-10 or Z-10. Do you shoot him or not? Let's say you see him just as he gets in, do you shoot the jet or helo or not? My experience is that anyone who answers no to this question is a liar. I have not once in hundreds of matches seen an enemy pilot who would let the Chinese pilot off the ground under these circumstances. By admitting that you would in fact try to kill the other player, you are admitting to being a hypocrite.

If your only argument for not raping uncaps is that it isn't "fair" or that it is "unsporting", please explain how it is ok for you to do the exact same thing just because the other teams flag is cappable? Some of you have gone so far as to say that people raping the vehicles on the carrier are cowards. The real cowards are the people who expect to be able to take off with no fear of attack, but who then won't hesitate to light up a pilot on the ground at the opposing air field.

Fair and sporting mean both sides play by the same rules. Letting one team get a freebie pass on getting their most powerful vehicles off the tarmac while the other team is open to the constant threat of attack is neither fair nor sporting.

It is natural to be angry when base raped, but...............

I believe this is all about misplaced anger, when the first person comes to base rape, kill them, if you don't kill them it is probably because your commander didn't spot them

Place blame where blame belongs, on your negligent commander, not on your sworn enemy

Be angry w/ your commander

Or if you are the commander, & you spot multiple enemies, & no 1 in a vehicle responds to your call for "back up", be angry w/ them

How about that for serious, on topic, constructive advice?

btw there is no rule that says a commander must command from the uncap, if it gets too "hairy", transfer command to another cp while you still have 1 (or some other remote location) until you can gain control of the situation, you can still spot everything on the map visually, & can win w/ out arty

You can have up to 9 squads, that is 9 mobile cp's, spawn off of them

Deny the base raper his fun, see how easy that was?

To me it sounds like they employed a great strategy. They were able to disrupt what you needed to do. That is why they make commander assets destructible and gave a SpecOps C4. A couple of dedicated SpecOps can really take a commander off their game and change the way things turn out. You did the best you could. It was up to your team members to get back there and fix & defend your stuff. I play often as engineer, typically in armor, and when I see any commander assets destroyed I immediately go to fix them and kill the interloper. A good commander will immediately say thanks. Protecting a commander and commander assets should be a primary concern for one or more of a teams members. If they aren't, then the commander should request repair support or say "defend this position".

I always play engineer when commanding. I believe supplies belong to my guys on my team.

Yeah you’re right about that. A C4 squad of 6 guys (2 spec ops, 2 support, 2 medics) will mess with a team so bad at your uncap, that it would take a total team effort to thwart.

It is so effective that it should be a common practice. Doesn't surprise me though that you don't see it employed often on pubs. It is sort of an unglamourous job, like manning AA, so people don't want to do it. When it is employed I think it is rarely countered well because base defense is as un-fun as manning AA. They are roles that typically don't yield a high number of points and can make your K/D ratio bad.

When teams do try to counter it on pubs they often overreact to the detriment of other team goals. A better approach would be if one or two snipers (depending on team size) hung back behind your uncap with the express mission of taking out incoming SpecOps dudes.
