They are roles that typically don't yield a high number of points and can make your K/D ratio bad.

When teams do try to counter it on pubs they often overreact to the detriment of other team goals. A better approach would be if one or two snipers (depending on team size) hung back behind your uncap with the express mission of taking out incoming SpecOps dudes.

I think we are on the same page here.

It's a powerful tactic. I'm not bothered by it at all.

If we are loosing because of it, I’ll tell my squads. If they don’t react, then the C4 Kill Team will win if for them.

I don’t care about spawn camping either. It doesn’t affect me because I’m a squaddy. I spawn off my leader. IF I AM a leader, then I spawn somewhere else.

I've been spawning on squad leader much more often lately. It really seems to improve our ability to achieve objectives. People should do it more often.

There's another reason it isn't seen more. Lot's of servers abuse the fact that they can make rules about no base rape, and they forbid anyone other than spec-ops into enemy uncaps. Of course this is completely unbalanced and it makes them hypocrites if only one team has an uncap, but don't expect them to admit that.

For starters, commanders often hide in their uncap. Commanders are supposed to be fair game at all times to anyone on the opposing team, but if only spec-ops are allowed into uncaps then only spec-ops can ever go after the commander. Further, if only one team has an uncap they have a huge advantage. They only have to ever worry about one or two spec-ops guys (realistically that's about as many as are ever going to come together at one time, and even if more came six spec-ops guys are no where near as powerful as a proper squad) getting into the base at any time and they have the potential to counter that threat with their entire team. Even if the spec-ops guys make it in to their target, they will quickly exhaust their C4 and will have to leave allowing the opposing team to quickly repair their assets without interference.

On the flip side, the team with a cappable main is completely screwed. They are subject to having an entire squad (or more) roll into their main at any time who can supply a spec-ops guy with endless C4 to constantly blow up assets. Not only that, but if a dedicated strike team comes in they will not only be able to continuously supply C4 but they will be a much more powerful force than the one or two spec-ops guys going into the uncap, and they will be able to either take the flag or at least be much more effective at fighting off defenders and can kill any engineers trying to repair the damage they have done. Not to mention that if the spec-ops guy in the uncap kills "too many" defenders he will probably be called a base raper and get banned, as opposed to the guys attacking the cappable who can kill defenders all day without anyone saying anything.

Most base rape rules started out as well intentioned, but they are abused to no end. I understand the desire to reduce spawn camping, and there is no excuse for spawn camping in an uncappable. However, once you have had a reasonable amount of time to get your bearings you should be considered fair game. Certainly if you have had time to run to a vehicle or to begin shooting at someone going for commander assets you can no longer call base rape if you are killed. The base rape clause needs to be removed from the ROE. Let admins deal with spawn campers but keep that power limited and clearly spell out that it only applies to someone killing players essentially right as they spawn. The current system leaves far to much room for abuse.

e.g we won world war 3 because we camped, terrorised, hid, tricked <<doesnt sound that great right

Wow we won world war 3? I didn't even know that it was going on. I approve of the tactics though cuz it seemed to be a quick resolution to the conflict. :)

You mention Planet of the apes, what war movies do you reference to support your romantic ideal of war. War is, and always has been a very dirty tricky thing, with few exceptions. The times when it was anything other than that, I'm sure there was nothing at stake. When the stakes are high you hit'em low.

Welcome to the everpresent planet of the apes.

10 pages already and still arguing like children.

Uhhhh, why don't you take your "STFU" and leave this thread for those that are enjoying the thread and the discussion.

No one drafted you into this thread.

Not like there are tons on threads of new material to discuss. Just chill.

You are right Jemme, arguing over semantics on the sniper class in a thread about baseraping is totally the way to go.

Besides anyone that is so hopelessly addicted to sniper so as to create/find a sniper userbar is a lost cause anyways. Enjoy your sniping, I'll enjoy laughing at you.
