The story seems okay, but it seems that it would be better fit on a console... don't ask why, I just think it would...
I voted no, but I looked at the video released and the whole "Ice Eating up the whole world" Idea seems okay but not really fit for the Battlefield Series... It's more of a Halo-ish type story... Although, no one plays it for the singleplayer. Instead of making a whole new damn game, why not just add some winter maps to bf2? That would be pretty cool... That's like half the reason anyone really bought BF: Modern Combat for the 360 (other half was probably hotswapping)

And the Star Wars-esque walkers are STUPID! They got f'in laser guns too?! Jesus! I like BF2 because it's one of those more realistic (not too realistic, or it would be boring) games... Theres no like freakin men with jetpacks and laser guns...

Main Points: The Vehicles look like they were taken out of Halo (look at the choppers.)
Snow Maps: Good Idea!
Walking Metal People: BAD Idea.

If they add aliens I am going to kill someone. I mean it.

(Though that would be a hilarious mod for BF2... You are just walking around, then suddenly you are flying and you look up and you are like "AAAAAAAAGH! A FLYING SAUCER!!!!!" And they could probe you and ****. Lol thats a good idea for a mod. EDIT: That is for a MOD! Mod's are supposed to either be: Funny, Bloody, or all together Better!)

Well, I checked, and we're both wrong. Battlefield 1942 will be 5 years old in a couple of months.

August 2002 to August 2006 will be 4 years.

Shoulda gone for a semi-futuristic game in between instead of jumping to this full-blown mechs, lazers, and cloaking BS. BF2072 or something.

Heck, they could just give us 128+ players, bigger maps, full-sized bombers and attack formations, with the same setting as BF2 or slightly more futuristic. That'd be cool.

Thats like Halo 2 (the 2072 part anyways I mean..)

there isnt nearly enough info on this game to make any sort of judgement at this time, however the base idea could be good as battlefield is far less arcade then quake or UT witch in my book are the worst FPS ever made

to soon ? it fits with the trend of how fast dice likes to release games 42 was out for about 2 years before BF:V came out then BF2 was out a year after that these guys dont really take alot of time off it seems they sure arint valve taking 6 odd years between games the only real problem I have with them releasing games so quickly is that the mod comunity suffers (happened to 1942) but by the time this new one comes out everyone should be pretty sick of vanilla bf2 but you can expect alot of mods being canned/moved

Ya know Duck... that's really too bad. The Mechwarrior series had it's own special charm that you'd prolly bet into given a proper chance.

Hehe, this is gonna sound odd, but I actually held a class soley based on MWIII. Every student had to design a mech loadout as their homework assignment. The test was a grand melee there their deisgn were put to the test. Later we had a bull session about what worked, what didn't, and why.

It was a very constuctive class and the student came away with a solid understanding of good mechanics systems. I came away with $500 in cource credits 'cause I wasn't the teacher!

Point is, it had a very interesting and indepth engineering aspect that would likely apeal to ya.

As someone said in a previous post: judging the game by watching two minutes video is not fair. I will give it a shot, but I am not exited about it. There is something inside me that keeps telling me to buy everything battlefield.
I will try the demo first anyway.

It has potential and could be an awesome game, however putting in mechs make it look plain cheesy and cliched....

If they had the right devs working on it, if it wasn't buggy, and if it had good balance and graphics...it could be a great game.

However, since (probably) none of that is going to happen...it will be dumb....

I still voted yes tho...

i think that is the gayest idea that Ea and DiCE ever came up with. the only futureistic game i even play is star wars battlefront

SWBF takes the least amount of skill any game ever has...

I used to play that game, after about 5 hours of online time (and about 20 total) I was top of the round every game no matter what....and thats not even using vehicles....

That game took zero skill to kill people....zero...take a rocket launcher...shoot...they die....

after reading every1s post i still stand by my feeling of this is a "stupid" concept mainly b/c it just doesn't appeal to me in any way, i prefer semi-realism and so i will not b one of those who buys this game if it comes out the way i believe it will...(though i think every1 should still test out its demo)

i think this game will be poorly accepted by 1942 vets and might bring in a new crowd from halo and other sci-fi games, overall though Ea might lose a good chunk of their fan base and this game could very well be the death of the bf series

it comes down to the fact that this game targets players that didn't play bf1942 and bf2, EA is trying to branch out but in the process i beilve they r going to lose more fans than they will gain

who knows.. maybe Ea just has a trend of 1 good game for every bad game they release =D (bf1942:) bfveitnam:hmm: bf2:) bf2142:|: bf3 )

oh! one more comment that is really puzzling, one guy mentioned it on here already, that EA's own official poll stated that sci-fi was the least liked time frame for the next series???... very optimistic of them to chose it.....

I think futuristic battle is almost as overused as WW2. I wish they'd stick with modern warfare for a bit, the battlefield series is made for it.

I like 2142 alot. I don't see why everyone is complaining, what other wars did you expect DICE to cover? The civil war? Sure mechs and lasers have been done to death but so have M16's and shotguns. Atleast with futuristic stories game makers aren't bound by the balls to make everything seem realistic so that every game you play has the same real world guns.

One thing that always surprises me about gamers is how they get their panties in a bunch when their favorite company that makes their favorite game decides to make a sequel. This whole "boycott <insert sequel here>" or "<insert sequel here> sux" is starting to become very cliche now and I see it happen to every game series.

Just cut the crap out and enjoy the game when it comes out because you know damn well you will be buying it lest you want to look like a fool in front of your buddies that are playing it. I bet there's plenty of hypocrites on these forums that said the same thing about BF2 before it came out yet they still bought it and continue to play. pfft
