please for the love of bf2 dont use the "Why ? Simple: I do more for the team by myself than if I was hindered by another player" exuse for helping the team win,so you telling us that u in a solo chopper would still win it for the TEAM despite every one on the ground capping flags.
what part of team dont you understand.
I understand team play, but being limited by new players in the most powerful/versatile vehicle isn't conducive to victory.
playing for the team would consist of you letting others have a chance in the gunner seat.
As previously stated, in my stupider days, I tried teaching everyone but it turns out I was wrong in thinking that it could be done. As a result, I only fly/gun with people I know can do the job.
more like you dont wont youre k/d ratio lowerd by an unskilled gunner!!!
that's the truth at the end of the day.
My K/D isn't extremely impressive to begin with, but this doesn't stop me from doing better alone than with 95% of players on pubs.
reason ppl go solo
1.to get all the kills for themselves
2.not to get a kill assist and let the other gunner have a kill.
3.to maximize there time in the chopper
4.to pretend there doing it for the team
5.when in fact it all for there selfish selves
4 and 5 are not separate items. As for the rest, they're ancillary benefits to flying well alone: claiming that every solo pilot does it for score is narrowminded at best.
note there maybe a few rare times when no one is around to get in the gunner seat,
but to label every other bf2 player as usless is very bold and way of the mark.
I have a combined time of almost 150 hours in an attack helicopter, so when I make an assessment of most gunners/pilots, I'm generally precise. The sad truth is that most of the time, it is being wasted... and this, whether or not you choose to accept it.
so you no everyplayer by name and skill in the gunner seat??
i think not.
i wont change my mind on the matter
solo chopper ING on a basis no one is good enough is rediculus!!!!
share the other seat that what its there for.
If someone's already proven his worth, he'll get in, otherwise I'll avoid the coffin.
EA should make it that it takes 5 seconds to switch seats from pilot to gunner this might help the pilot think twice or there would be a chance the chopper would crash, thus eliminating the solo l337 player
Contrary to what you would think, I agree with this solution, though all this would do is make ME take all of the shots by myself with dumb missiles if a gunner has proven himself unreliable during our first or second outing.
p.s maybe more than 5 seconds who nows!!
I appreciate your comments. Mine are bolded. One more thing: when people ask for a ride, I pick them up and give them one chance to prove their worth. After that, I take the most appropriate course of action based on the battle situation...
If I'm making kills every 30 seconds, for like 10 minutes == 25-30 kills then why should i get kicked because some noobs want to gun?
They see my name light up the scoreboard and they say "WTF is he doing with our chopper?" answer: "Getting kills moron!" What is wrong with these people?
Some of you people just don't seem to get that this is a team based game.
Players who deny others the chance to play suck.
Players who TK others so that they can whore vehicles suck even more.
If it's 'cheap' and 'gay' and whatever else, to fly and gun at the same time. Then WHY, I repeat WHY is it ok for people to switch to the gunner seat in a jeep?
I hear a lot of "choppers are meant for 2 people". Well, jeeps are also meant for multiple people, so are APC's, so are tanks, yet people use them alone almost exclusively, and nobody ever complains about it. Care to explain?
Actually don't bother, because I already know the reason. It's because solo gunning is HARD, and most of you people suck at it, therefore you are against it. Plain and simple.
It was the same thing with C4 throwing. People whined all day about how it was stupid, and unrealistic. Meanwhile, there is nothing unrealistic AT ALL about it compared to a million other things in this game. What is so far fetched about throwing a lightweight explosive a few feet away from you, then backing up and detonating it? Seems pretty damn plausible to me, considering that you can revive people from being blasted by a tank shell, or repair a chopper in 3 seconds just by hovering over a pad, not to mention a thousand other parts of the game that are totally unrealistic, yet nobody complains because they are EASY, while C4 throwing required practice.
Point is, when I see somebody solo gunning, I know immediately that they are a quality player. It takes a sh*tload of skill to be proficient at it, and that's the ONLY reason that you people are complaining about it.
Solo gunning is absolutely not hard. Its one of the cushiest things you can do with a chopper. You will not get shot down unless a plane gets on you. You get a nice big KD ratio and **** your team mates off.
Sometimes I cannot find a gunner. So I do this. This solo gunning cracks me up.
WHAM! Tv guided missle slams a tank, they look up and see a slowly spinning chopper regain control.
i hit 100 poins on average when solo tving. i guarantee you if i had a gunner, we wouldnt be able to total that. so this bull **** about helping the team more is just...bull ****
Of course it is... but don't try reasoning with them: although they may understand the math, they don't seem to make the connection between our higher ticket count and the more probable chance of victory.
I don't give a **** about the team. I don't give a **** about the points. But if I can fly/gun solo better than anyone else in the server (which I can) why shouldn't I? Get your ass on the ground where you belong if you don't have skill. Let the pros back you up.
I LOVE hovering out of bounds killing you people.

Pub games are about people having fun. If you want hardcore competition, join a ladder/league/tournement.
What is wrong with flying solo? Half the time I pilot the person gunning for me cant see things right in front of us anyway. Nothing p!sses off a pilot more than a douchebag n00b in the gunner seat that does not know what the TV missles are or how to use them, much less use the gun. I mean half the time they dont realize that if they press "C" they can have a larger view of the field.
I'll tell you what. You want to gun for me in the chopper? Learn to use the gun and missiles in single player first. Show me you can take out a squad before they drop us with their pistols.
In all honesty, the only thing I see "gaying up the servers" as you all put it is people that encounter someone that cannot use a vehicle, weapon, tactic etc. as efficiently as the target of their inital ranting. It's getting to the point where it's like playing in a server with a bunch of p!ss pants kindergarden kids that cry when someone walks in with a new toy that they dont have. If it bugs you so much go play Day oy Defeat FFS!
lol i love the excuse of "helping the team". In serious clan/league stuff i might understand the benefit of soloing and how it might help ur team, but I and many others play in pubs to have FUN, and I could sorta care less if I win or lose. So by flying solo you selfish tards might be helping the tickets, but ur lessening the fun-level, the main thing im looking for.
I'm learning how to solo gun bymyself because Sloi ditched me ( ) but anyways I'm doing this because when I get in a chopper some dumbass gunner will get in with me and once they have shot at the tank with the chaingun - Off to the out of bounds with them!!
I would want a gunner in my helo. Since the helos only have 8 missles now I need some extra back up TV guided missles. Oh and don't forget about the chain gun because we all hate putting our nose down to kill infantry and end up slicing our blades against a lamp post.
The incredible maturity of the words "noob" and "ownage". Look son, if you want real ownage, stand in the middle of Harlem and yell the N word. This is BF2. It is a game where a mouse and keyboard lead morons like yourself to believe they are special.
Welp I have an opinion on this matter seeing I like piloting and gunning. When the cows run down the road you better open up a can of soda and start shakin.
No wait its.... never mind ....anyway When I am piloting...I suck as pilot but gettin better.....I usually get shot down while waitin for ssomeone to fire a TV. I tyoe USE THAT TV MISSLE but they either iggy me or dont see it oh well....when they do that... I will try to shoot cattle with rockets and such.
I have also had people try to execute me for gunning buy makin me go in the out of bounds and stuff never giving the chance to kill a thing, how can anyone get better at the TV if they bnever get the chance? So what if you can do it better I can do it better if you let me learn. Its not like your dad is runnin on the ground with his pants around his ankles screaming "Ill do better next time I promise!!" But if he were I bet you'ld get a gunner then! Even so it would kill ya to get a gunner just give them a little guidance and if they dont foloow it then just use the rockets and let them have fun chaining around the ground.
