Seriously, if you find yourself in that situation, ya screwed up.

seems Chris_Redfield is having a hard time getting used to that.

That is so true. I remember sometimes when I get into a jet and start flying, if I see some guy flying and try to hit him, he turns and all that stuff and I get bored and just fly off to my ways. Same when people are targeting me, I just turn and all that stuff and they go away.

HAH! Said a guy slandering all pilots not 2 hours ago. Nice try buddy.

And Wargimp. I dont like easy kills, nor do I appreciate easy kills. I´d like my game to be a challenge. AA is a challenge now, maybe. But this game was never meant to be jets vs AA.

as i said, they could've improve the air 2 air missiles, then keep the AA's as what they were before the patch. but fix the missile-hit-teammate bug.

Now now... No need fer that.

CR ain't the only one having trouble with a rather drastic shift in mechanics. It's not suprising. I've been saying for months that this was gonna happen when AA finally was implemented in a functional state.

What pilots need to wrap their heads around his that modern air combat really is about seconds. It's intense. One oops and yer gone. If someone locks on ya and you're caught without countermesures, you've lost already.

I dont know yet. It´ll definitely tick me off if the dogfights will be as easy and fast as they are made out to be. My best firefights on ground, APC fights, tank fights, dogfights et cetera have all been those which have been long ones. When I finished a dogfight against a skilled pilot, my hands were sweaty, my adrenaline rushed and I felt like I was on a roller coaster, talk about fun. I wouldnt want that feeling to not to appear ever again.

And Soda. Theres 2 ways you can be victorious in that situation- stay behind. Since youre both NOT in a perfect circle, moments will arise when you can use your machine gun. The guy sees looping is useless and he tries something else. This is the time you will dominate.
              Or. Disengage and reengage.

MackTheKnifeAU- those kind of maneuvers wont hold a pilot off your 6. Seems like its only the trouble of stayin on your 6 now and shooting as soon as you got a lock, whereas earlied you had to create and work hard to create the moments to shoot.

                Re: Where are you |CCC|Planewhore?

Im no ace but I just went 65 kills and 4 deaths in 2 rounds on Zatar Wetlands on r2 server. I was expecting a lot worse but I was loving it. My first round was 42-1 second round was 23-4 and two of those I crashed when I went to change my look and hit the wrong one. I will try some more. I play well on the ground and I am not a jet whore, I feel the AA is slightly overpowered. The jets are not as bad as the chopper, the poor chopper has been nerfed horribly. I can honestly say if you try your same old tactics as pre-patch, you will crash and burn. You now have to play smart.

                  Ah... hu?
                  That made no sense.

The core principle behind the game's design was to implement a rocks, paper, sissiors type system where everything has an effective counter. Ground troops would be paper, Planes are Sissors, AA are rocks.

Ive used to long dogfights that left me exhausted. I dont want this to be "first lock first kill" like "in real life". Its that simple. When I lost I started to learn. I think that when I loose now I´ll just be working harder to have the first lock-on. But this has nothing to do with skills. Just a strategical approach to the overall game. Its going to be a whole different dogfighting system from now on, less maneuvering skills and more pre-planning. The way I want it to be- more maneuvering skills and everything else can be what anyone wants.

Should have underlined that I was talking about two different things. My bad.

1st. I dont like easy dogfighting kills nor would i like to be killed easily.

2nd. I dont think this game was planned to be Jets vs AA. AA vs Jets- sure. It seems now as if Jets have to be constantly gunning down AAs to stay alive. Like PlaneWhore said in PlanetBattlefield- Jets are focused on targets that dont matter for the team.

                        Ah. Gotcha.

Well, that's a failure of teamwork, not of design. Ground troops should be spanking that AA. Smart commanders should be using artillery to blow the crap outta emplacements.

This isn't much different from the teamwork failure that was rampent previously... IE, planes not bothering to engadge planes.

I cry every time when people set teamwork and Battlefield 2 into one sentence. It takes a selfless person to do job for the team. Sniper sniping AAs to keep the jets asses clean is a rarity, I´d suggest pilots start thanking those few now. So far the only teamwork in public servers I´ve had were just squads moving around together. Nothing much more to it. As stated by someone else- a game like this should be designed while keeping a solid rule in mind "There will not be any teamwork" and then try to make things so that supporting your fellow man really becomes a vital element for your own success. Kind of like weak choppers with good crews seem to be now. Teamwork wise- they won the most.

So in the end. If a jet has to focus on the threats too much it quickly becomes a "Jet vs AA" game for the jets, which isnt that good for the team. IF a pilot wants to be as successful as prepatch- coordination with snipers is extremely necessary. But here comes the LOL part. From my personal experience, newbies and lone wolfs make up the most of the sniper power in a public server.

But oh well. I get my dose of hardcore teamwork from SWAT4. Clanwars in that game are just friggin amazing.

Trust me, there are going to be alot more in the coming days. I'll hole up in oman (as mec) with my awp, find the best position to get (hopefully) sight lines to 2 of the AA.

I was talking about Pre-Patch (someone was talking about how awesome pre-patch dogfighting was), where if someone gets behind you, you do a hard constant turn or loop, if they fire you drop flares and keep turning, until they get bored and go away.

Post-Patch A2A (and A2G) is about positioning, stalking the target, staying above the enemy air, waiting till the right time to swoop down and strike. I think I'll be flying fighters more, as I think there is a tonne more skill in flying now, mainly because these changes mean that A2G is much more risky, and that A2A can be quick and deadly. There will be less base raping, I hazard to say no carrier raping, and most of the time it will be about finding and position, and then the kill. An engagement could last 5 seconds.

don't need to be in J10 to get that score.

Didn't get shot down by AA, never. I have about 5 bomb kills, all the others are from fighting planes and AA.

Point: plane still dominates hardcore, if you know the trick.
