    Re: Where are you |CCC|Planewhore?

Didn't get shot down by AA, never. I have about 5 bomb kills, all the others are from fighting planes and AA.
I this is what PW was talking about. Ground pounders will be left with no air strike? Game setup now at least does seem to push things that way.

No, I cannot bomb the ground before my ground force take out the AA, then they can call out air support and I can go in.

      Sounds like teamwork to me.

        Re: Where are you |CCC|Planewhore?

BOTTOM LINE IS: Planes were too powerful, the fact that skilled players were getting 70+ scores (against vehicles no less) and no deaths (staying alive the whole round) was just over the top.

The very best skilled infantry guys are doing well with a death count of maybe 2-3 in every 20-30 deaths (a reasonable round)

The planes (and heli's) were overpowered, so much so that a stand off with an AA guy vs an incoming planes heli physically made it impossible for an AA guy to take out their opponent (DISREGARDING SKILL LEVEL) it wasnt a matter of skill with the AA it simply wasn't good enough to take down a decent pilot.

Now planes have something to be scared of, a tactical well skilled pilot can stay in the air and still get a decent amount of kills and this is 2 days after the patch...given time new tactics will evolve how to help evade AA.

If your argument against planes (like planewhore wrote in the linked thread) is that you can get a greater score on the ground then you're far to used to getting a high k:d ratio, theres no reason why planes should be anymore effective in the air than troops on the ground, its all about balance.

If you think you're good because you can get in the most overpowered vehicle in the gmae and get 70:0 kills:deaths then wrong, you're not, most of the decent players I know can do equally well in a plane at a stretch and still go on foot and fight.

DO NOT MISTAKE SKILL FOR WHOREING, getting a large score in an overpowered vehicle is to be expected, the real skill is in learning to adapt to new stratergies and tactics, to be able to learn as you go.

I for one am glad planes have been knocked down a peg, theres no reason why they should be so powerful, remember this is a game and not real life, so any real life comparisons as an argument are ultimatly moot. The game should be balanced and enjoyable and varied, it is currently all 3 which is good!

            Re: Where are you |CCC|Planewhore?

Really funny to hear all the planewhores crying

I think the 1.2-AAs are just fair now. Why? At first, any decent pilot (not me, I'm just a hobby-pilot ) will still rack up a positive K/D-ratio.
And all of you, who whine around, because if you get a lock and don't have any flares left you will die instantly etc. are simply lying. There is a button on your keyboard, between W an R, just hit this key if you get a lock and don't have flares left. Your plane will be shot down, but there is a good chance that you will survive and can show your l33t infantry-skillz. And if you parachute down into the water, miles away from any land... your fault, just don't try to rape the carrier ;-)

Tank-drivers know the feeling, when they see an helicopter coming slowly towards them. The tv-missile means instant death, and there is nothing they can do against that if the pilot and his gunner are doing their work right. Do they cry around like a baby? No.

              Re: Where are you |CCC|Planewhore?

There's a hell of a lot of arrogance on the part of the jet pilots, many of whom seem to be under the impression that they should be spared the inconvenience of dying during a game. There's also a big flaw in the "Jets shouldn't be vulnerable to infantry" argument...because they aren't! Now, an infantryman in an AA emplacement (normally positioned around spawn points) or a mobile AA unit is a different matter. Admittedly on the smaller maps they've got overlapping fields of fire, but it's still dependent on somebody knowing where the jet is, taking the time to actually get in it and then cranking it round to face the right direction. That makes a total of at the most 10 possible threats at any one time in the game.

Basically you're complaining because you can't depend on raping spawn points anymore for easy kills. You're in pretty much the same boat as everyone else, except you're still likely to die less than everyone else. Compare the jets current situation with the tanks, what's the difference between a 300+hr pilot getting shot down by a "noob" in AA and a 200+hr tanker getting taken out by a "noob" in a TOW, or with a mine, or with C4, or with an APC, or with an AT rocket? Jets now have a credible threat from the ground, but still far fewer threats than everything else in the game so deal with it.

If you stand by your belief that your "experience" playing the game gives you a god-given right to "pwn" new players, and you don't have the good grace to accept that even the newest player can get lucky, then maybe you should stick to single player where you can annihilate bots to your hearts content. And before you argue that there's no luck involved in hitting with AA, if you were stupid enough to fly over it and not take it out then he got lucky :)

You need at least a squad of skilled players to be able to influence the outcome of a game. If you're in a plane or a helicopter you need at most two players to totally destroy the other team. That's where the ego comes from, the actual effect you as a singe person (or two in case of helo) can have on the outcome of the round.

Heh I find it funny. A real life jet pilot can afford to have arrogance, after all he is a very skilled and intelligent individual who has spent years and years of their life learning and practicing.

However some fat guy who plays an arcade shooter and flys planes just makes himself look silly when they try and boast about any real skill. Personally admitting you have skills at a computer game is the sign of someone clutching at straws.

I don't want any advantage, my problem is that the impact skill has on an A2A outcome has been reduced so drastically and there was really NO need for it.
Now this is a funny post. When on the ground "you had no problem staying out of their way." Well, to be perfectly honest I'd argue that when you're on the ground that choice is never yours to make, unless that is you remain holed up in cover for the entirety of a map...

If you're in a vehicle, it's up to the pilot. If you're at a flag it's again up to the pilot as to whether he decides to bomb that flag you're defending or capping. The list could go on...

On Wake the reduced size of the map means you're even more susceptible to pilots and the decisions they make.

Maybe you've been lucky? (doubtful) Maybe you've always been up against amateur pilots? (possible) Either way, once you you realise that it's always been about the pilots' decision making then you'll start to understand the whole concept a little more.

I've noticed that I'm actually more susceptible to enemy/stray missiles more (patch 1.2, btw) when I'm on the afterburners. Has anyone done any research on whether or not they're a harder target to hit when they cut the throttle to 0?

I've noticed that when pursuing an enemy jet, my missiles don't hit as effectively if they are slowing down or not using afterburners.

Just wondering what other people have experienced...

They point in the direction of my plane, wait a second or two, and click the mouse button twice and I'm dead. Now, being a sucessful and deadly pilot, in my opinion, takes a very large amount of skill and practice, and I'm not talking about those newbies who can get 20 or maybe 30 kills in a round of Wake 2007 in the J-10, but rather talking about the handful of pilots who were able to constantly get 70+ kills per round, on any map (aka, the people who got planes nerfed in the first place). Now, on the other side of the equation, the new AA missiles require no technique, timing, or consideration for the trajectory of plane you and engaging.
lol. Thats all I can say to this.

If all you see is your ability to fly a plane, and not appreciate the enemy and how good they may or may not be, then you are so narrow minded its mental.

Fighter Pilots (REAL ONES) don't go around pretending they are the best. They know the enemy is lethal and if they mess around they will die.

So as for the point that "the new AA missiles require no technique, timing, or consideration for the trajectory of plane you and engaging." isn't that the whole point? if you were actually a good pilot you might be able to avoid or time your flybys to some extent. AA are homing, of course theres no technique. They don't design stingers to be only used by those who can understand trajectory, they design them so anyone can pick one up on the battlefield with minimal training and use it effectively.

Disagree with AA sentiment. Never took skill in the first place. An AA gun doesn't need skill it just needs to be manned.
