Admitedly, I haven't upgraded yet... I'm just watching the flow of things here. I'm waiting for an offical release (and a couple renders to finish) before I patch.
Right now, I'm interested mostly in the theory of the new mechanics.
I'm a chopper buff myself. I tend to fly BHs more than anything else, but I like attackchoppers too. I knew this was coming fer awhile. As soon as I heard "reduced hitpoints on all aircraft" and "Improved AA" I thought "uh oh". I was actually a bit annoyed. Then I started thinking about it. Really, when I'm flying a chopper, I don't feel like I'm working hard enough.
For the last couple weeks, I've been practicing flying low. Like really low. Nape of the earth 'n all that. I've had a couple hugely embarrasing moments plowing into the ground at highspeed while trying to see just how low I can afford to push it. Thing is, I'm looking forward to seeing how that stacks up against the new mechanics. I should be able to weasle my way under AA cover and still manage my insertion missions alright.
My entire point is that rather than being tweaked off by the changes, see it as a challange. Before flying was no big deal... now it's gonna take balls 'n brains. I like that.Comment

Ya I understand that and I'm always up for a challenge, but now alot of it is in the hands of my team. Sure I can hid behind buildings and trees, but come on I'm in a freaking badass helicopter with rockets I don't want to have to hide from some n00b in a sandbag box.
By the way, if you liked flying the BH.... HAHA you're the most effed of us all.

I'm a good pilot, I rarely get hit with AA and consider myself one of the better pilots out there (Of course AA needed to be beefed up). I had two of my friends man random AA's on Dalian Plant. I got to the land, got tone flared. got tone again (now from both AA's and flares are out). Got hit with 4 missiles just about simultaneously. Tried again, this time I knew where they were so the flare wasn't so premature. So I waited for him to fire his missiles, flared, they missed me... Then the two from the other side hit me dead on. Everyone hit me no matter what the evasive maneuver (leaving 4 bars of health mind you). Now let me stress another thing. Thought the .50 (FAV) was your worste nightmare before? Oh man. If you don't know where he is and have teh capability to destroy him from distance or on your first pass.... You are absolutely screwed. A FAV will now eat up a cobra WELL before it overheats, we are talking full health to 0 in less than 5 seconds. One shot from the FAV takes 1.5 per shot off the 20 health of the Cobra. Just let it sink in, I know its tough to know without trying it out... but you'll see, they went a little overboard. IMHO
I think I should expand on the BH thing. A SINGLE FAV will turn a BH into a charcoal carcass before it even reaches land on Dalian Plant.Comment

Yesterday every helo and Plane aviators where saying that they would still own...today everyone is crying.
I only say that there is too little pratice with this new patch to take some solid conclusions...people still have the same tatics of pré-patch...new tactics will arise and the gameplay will be more balanced (I hope).Comment

Don't take the arrogance of others and apply them to everyone. Many people on here never promised anyone anything and I definately woulnd't put my "reputation" on the line with EA/Dice holding up the other end. Its true... new tactics may arise, but the ones that should work don't. All I know.Comment

Hope people aren't shooting their own foot by downloading a leaked version and all of a sudden the patch is delayed more.
Sorry for bursting anyones bubble but this has happened with other games.
Also people seem to be getting upset with a "BETA" build, why? This isn't finalized.Comment

Be interesting to check the MD5's of the official release. I find it odd though that EA's Official Server are allowing people to play using this unofficial patch, surely the built-in content check would disallow access if this wasn't the final release...Originally posted by Demize99
