I think some people are blowing this whole issue way out of proportion here.

The AA is finally the way it should be!!! I never jumped into it because hell, every time I would fire the missiles at someone after they fired their flares, the AA missiles never even came close to hitting them, it was bs.

Many thanks to DICE for finally fixing the AA. If you don't want to get killed by the AA, start targeting them instead of thinking you're safe when flying!

My question is... why would you take him out when the soldiers around him pose more of a threat to YOU than he does with his missiles.... No reason for you to take him out... you can live without taking him out. (95% of BF2 players think like this) Its as though you will have to have 3 mini squads combined into one squad called the AA cleaner squad. All they do is sit 100m away from AA's with sniper rifles and AT rockets and clean them out. And sure, this would work... but try getting that type of teamwork together on a pub and tell me how it goes.

Yeah now multiply that x 100 for all the wide open AA sites on 64 player Gulf of Oman... and I have a bad feeling about it.

You will just hope that, as a pilot, the rest of your team is full of snipetards to cover all those sites. :P

Dude, the dog fights are on!

Bomber pilots are going to have to go high and dive on targets if they wanna live long. Those laser guided missiles are gonna actually be important to 'em. Since you know this, you need ta find a fighter and get up there to blow 'em away.

BTW, yeah, I'd kill some dude in an AA anytime I saw one. He can get OUT of the AA at any time and become a threat to me. I also do think about things like neutralising threats to my side's air power... just didn't have to worry about it much till now.

For example (using your vid):
Scale has been reduced dramaticly within BF2. To make working game mechanics that support good fun aircraft you need to make allowances for the reduduction in the area that they have to fly in. Thus, the planes have to be more manuverable and accelorate faster than real ones. The same must be true for AA missiles. Thus, what would appear to be a rotten RL angle, becomes a reasonable one in the game.

That rotten RL angle was a rotten angle in the game... I'm telling you that pre 1.12 ONE of those missiles would have hit. I don't care how an RL angle translates into the angle in the game because of the constraints put on the theaters and such. My argument does not concern that. What it does concern is the before and after comparisons of 1.12 and 1.2 Perhaps one seems more REALISTIC to you or suits what you think might be realistic even taking the proportions into account, however none of that really matters. What matters is how it ALL functions as a part of the game. Because, as we all know, a minigun mounted on a BH would turn anyone into a milkshake, but it doesn't in the game because that wouldn't work with the mechanics of the game.

Oh and by the way, you couldn't lose me if you were a turd in a turdpile :laugh: I'll give a too since at 4am I couldn't expect less from myself.

If there are others nearby then it shouldn't really be a problem anyway. You should be with other people and not lone wolfing it so that you feel outnumberd and outgunned and whatnot. (Unless your a sniper, which then means you should be far away taking pot shots at them, and if you're a sniper and see someone in a fixed position [The AA in this case], and someone not. Who do you snipe? Exactly)

Exactly....Before the patch...honestly now, how many of you pilots took AA seriously?? Honestly? A trooper manning an AA emplacement was a free kill, barely even worth wasting more than the cannons on, why?? because all you pilots knew the chances of that trooper knocking you out da' sky was slim to none, and slim was out of town. Now what?? You all cry because you need to actually pay atttention to AA emplacements...god forbid you should be bothered so much to take a break from endless flag bombing runs to put some serious strategy into taking out the 1 thing that SHOULD be able to blow you out of the air.

Have you even played the 1.2 patch yet? Because it doens't sound like you have....

I agree with you on the planes thing man... they are going to do fine with help from their fighters. I don't even fly that often, I'm more a chopper buff myself.

And... there will be no dogfights dude... its too easy.

P.S. this WAS a great game, i truely enjoyed many aspects of it, but this is the straw... never again. no way...

This is a great game but i knew what was going to happen. No bugs will ever be fixed and just will get worse and worse. Its unbelieveable how some software companies work these days. I cant wait to find a new game myself. This one is just about trash.
