Argh! It's like no one can see the obvious. You have the people who flame the pilots, you have the pilots that complain about A.A. missiles acting realistically. The emphasis is now on teamwork. Just as Ground-Pounders have to rely on one another to be an effective fighting force, Jets and Helos must now rely on ground pounders to secure SAM sites, and hold them with about a 2-Man Team.

That's the solution right there. If you want your team to have complete air dominance, your commander needs to alot people to the defense of "Every" applicable SAM site. Jets and Helos now need the people they supposedly "work so hard" to defend.

As it stood in the past, it took no real abbility to fly. I fly, I know. I pretty much jumped in the chopper and knew I had the a "Safety Net" as long as I ran away the second a lock formed. Truth be told, if a real missile gets a lock on a Cobra and they don't pop flares. The helo is gone. Missiles aren't slow, they aren't as stupid as they were in the past.

This applies for a Jet as well. A simply high G turn isn't going to cause an A.A. rocket to leave you alone. That's what flares are for. Also, if the missile has walked close enough up on you, odds are even poping flares is going to cause your craft to take a bit of damage from the explosion.

I potential in this. A commander now has to look at Anti-Air sites as a objective. Jet fighters have to request that ground pounders secure them in order to allow Air Dominance. Basically, Helo and jets are now "Assets". Think of them as extensions of UAV, Atrillery, or Satalite. All of which take some level of infantry defence to stay functional.

Paas, Im definitely thinking about the same thing and the same thing with each passing minute. Everything about air is changing and will change dramatically. Dogfight will never the the same again. Use of jets- same. Choppers- totally in support role rather than offensive. Air has been pushed back a notch.

I agree with the teamwork idea. IT COULD WORK! But in a public situation it IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. If you are going to make the planes and helicopters commander assets, then make him control them.... You are never going to get 2 guys who could be capping flags and getting points to sit on an AA site just to contribute to the wellbeing of their "Chopper whores" on the carrier. It doesn't work!

Paas, i totally agree with you.

                Nothing is impossible.

In a perfect world, we'd have true TEAMWORK players discussing their plans to destroy the opposition. Too bad people never listen, they all want to do their own thing.

We don't live in a perfect world: therefore, adjustments must be made to reflect the reality of things.

I agree. In a public server there is a low chance of this happening.

I have done it before though, I have been a pretty verbal and effective commander and "fooled" 90% of my team into following my every order. Know why? Because I won rounds, my tactics worked, my mindset was effective.

This is going to have to happen almost everytime now, and if your team doesn't want to put forth the effort to be a well rounded and mature force. Your entire team gets punished with a lack of Air-Support. Just the way it is. It's kind of harsh, but, I prefer it no other way.

...then again. I'm a complete and total Teamplay nut. The kinda of person who demands Headsets in a squad, and tells people what kit to use at ALL times, even if they feel like changing. My squads usually stay full, although you get that one person who doesn't like authority; thus the good ol' "kick" function

I cannot stress this enough. Name of the game is teamwork. Join a small Unit? Devise tactics? Raid public servers? Or... spend your time trying to whip a bunch of children into shape for combat. It can get frustrating, but it's highely rewarding.

Nothing about score, its about air rape. Yes you can avoid a jet, soon as you hear it dive for cover, dont always work, but you can live. We also gotta look out for choppers, tanks, apcs, and other footies with guns. Jet have got er.....???....jets. Now its jets and AA. WOW !!!

1001th time. The main reason you didnt do any damage with AAs before is because you didnt concentrate on trying to get more skills on that AA. No practice- no results.

I feel like I need to chime in here. Currently I have 250 hrs in a jet, ranked 39th with a 19-1 K/D ratio. I just got through playing a full round of Dalian Plant. Normally I might go 43-0....sometimes higher with a death...you get the pic. I went 26-1 and it was one of the toughest round of flying Ive had.

I had to really pay attention to everything. I had to guesstimate the spawn times of the AA and not get too close to the carrier. I had to leave most of the ground targets alone. I snuck in a few kills here and there, but nothing like before.

What really struck me was if I was behind an enemy fighter and had tone after he dropped flares....there was nothing he could do. I ended up adjusting my flying to that....ie: I didnt have to follow as close and possibly losing him. I only had to use guns a few times. Taking down the enemy jets was pretty easy as long as you prepared yourself in advance...by that, I mean, flying higher than you normally would and purposefully looking for enemy aircraft , then getting behind them. That also meant, if you crossed another enemy fighter, whoever got behind the other first wins, so I had to take offensive measures first or I would end up on the defensive.

It seemed like it was more real. It wasnt the typical bomb, missle sumpthin, reload, rinse and repeat. I honestly hated it and loved it at the same time. The one death I had didnt even come from a missle, it came from me going a tad too far in the stratosphere. Time will tell if my opinion changes, but I will agree that it will weed out the less experinced pilots and give the ground pounders a much needed break.

edit: FYI, I didnt go 26-1 because noone was manning the AA, everyone and his brother wanted to try it out.

Oh cmon' Christoph! (Joke). You know the A.A. was broken. It was not a matter of skill, the missiles turned and hit friendly aircraft COMPLETELY out of your scope of aim.

A jet could fly directly away from you, not pull flares, and a missile would bank to hit the friendly helo 100m in the wrong direction. A helo could hover 100m out from an A.A. emplacement and watch as the missiles dance around him, hitting the friendlies of that "defensive-gunner" and laugh.

I'm trying to see your side of this, but this is the most outrageous comment you have ever made. You "KNOW" the A.A. was broken. Dice/EA knew is was broken. Everyone "KNEW" it was broken; yet you're sitting here trying to make an aurgument of skill?

                            Oh please... that's just rubbish.

As for the Black Hawk nerfing... GOOD! It will make a different Mashtuur city than the one we had with the classic BH raping, same people always just racking up points. You saw many times on this forum people saying the strategy on the map is ramming the BH with the other chopper.

Might make other city/moutaineous maps interesting for the BH and other choppers too. Hovering behind a mountain/building out of view of FAVs/AA, suddenly rising just above and unloading everything.

Hey, it's just more interesting. Before 1.2, it was simply just too cheap. If you don't like more challenge and fair score distrubution, don't patch.

I was actually waiting for this kind of an opinion. The last and most important thing I need to know.

Isnt there really anything the guy can go if hes locked on to? Absolutely nothing?
