Re: Why many people are quitting BF2 for good -- it's not fun anymore

When people bought BF2 what did they expect. I didnt but it so I could run around as infantry the whole time. I was ****ing excited for the tanks, planes and especially the helos. They're the best part of the game and I dont know about you, but I love them.

If you dont like any of these vehicles, I guess BF2 isnt for you. Spend less time complaining and more time trying to solve the problems with your own skills.

I mean dont people get bored of playing the same maps over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, i love trying out new maps, only problem is nobody plays them cause all they care about is their damn stats!!!!!!!!!!
I actually have to agree with this statement.
The inclusion of a global stat system is making people play for numbers and unlocks rather than playing for fun. For people like me who cannot spend 5 hrs a day playing this is a serious detriment to my fun of the game. I still do have plenty of fun, I've just had to look past the whole Rank thing. Besides, when they changed the Ranking system I got all the unlocks I'll ever need anyway.

Well you feel like you have to get the unlocks to experience the full game.

Feel like i haven't got my money's worth if i don't unlock all of them. Trying to have fun is important but you can have fun trying to go for medals/ribbons etc.

You are being very dramatic, scores and scores of people arent quitting for good
and those who are must of not liked bf2 that much anyway if they are leaving just because they get killed by a plane. It's a little frustrating not being able to take a plane down no matter how hard you try but the truth is.. you'll get killed more by infantry and armor than a plane. So the point is... stop dwelling on how many points plane whores are getting (at least untill the next patch)and have fun... if you get killed by a plane take it out on somebody else lol.

AA needs to be fixed for sure, it's useless. one thing I have noticed is that most of the time the guys that are really good in a jet leave the server when it goes to a map with no jets........wonder why??

Re: Why many people are quitting BF2 for good -- it's not fun anymore

I can agree with the spirit of the original post, however a lot more needs to be done to stabilize the entire game , starting with the efficiency of the net code and game engine.

              my humble suggestions:

              infantry:

1, get rid of the hop and shoot and dolphin divers.
2,give better prescion and damage to the ballistics.
3,code the game so that enemies cant steal your hardware ,helos and tanks.
4,commanders cannot enter aircraft or armor, hummers only wich is more practical and realistic.
5,artillery must be called in , designated, by players of sgt rank or higher.

              airpower:

1,dumb bombs are fine ,however tank killing bombs should require a lock on or designator.
2,only ranks higher then staff sgt are able to operate.
3,must land to reload and refeul.
              4,vastly increase AA capacity.
5,aircraft respawn should take a lot longer cutting down on the campers waiting for the bird to reappear!

              armor:
1,tanks and apc should reqiure 2 players to activate/operate- no armor spammers.
2,put an anti mine plow on the front of tanks.
              3,fix the teamkill mine bug.
4,allow for chaff and flares to deflect AT missles - 4 players with AT missles renders armor almost useless it should be much harder to kill one.

and most importanly of all ELIMINATE THE ALL SEEING EYE RADAR SCANNER!
this is the most unrealistic aspect of bf2 - uav is relavant but scanners are bogus.

              just my 2 cents.

Otherwise pilots will have to find targets visually. That would equalize the jets and the AAA tanks.
That would make it impossible to bomb because of the crappy view distance in bf2.It would be hard to line up a target let alone identify it.

                  For god's sake people...
Yes, airpower is a bit on the overpowered side due to busted arse AA missile tracking, but it does NOT determine who wins if you've got any kind of good teamwork going.

Yeah i kinda a gree w/ the original post. I do hope the new patch would fix this. But i agree with who ever said make the people in planes land and make them have fuel. EA should definetly read that post

This statement is a load of bull. I was US on Oman the other day and was in a F-35. I was taking out all thier planes and choppers. Secondary was tanks and APC's. We quickly lost all our flags, (our team sucked). Our tickets were slowly counting down, but I and another pilot destroyed thier team so utterly that they ran out of tickets before ours bled. We won that map solely on air raping kills even though they had teamwork enough to still hold the whole entire 64 player version of the map.

Yeah I'll hop in a jet on an air map to avoid getting raped over and over again by them. The difference is I actually shoot down other planes and choppers.

I really agree with this, I don't enjoy playing this game very much. The killing power of Aircraft/Helicopters needs to be drastically reduced and/or AA needs to be much better. I don't know anyone that likes being constantly bombed, strafed, hit w rockets all game.

And with that comment, you backed up my statement.
I said good teamwork. That involves your teams planes providing air cover instead of point farming.

                          Glad we agree!

Re: Why many people are quitting BF2 for good -- it's not fun anymore

I partially agree with the original post. I wouldn't say that is the main reason though, just part of it.

There are a lot of servers that just don't run maps that have jets in them. Which means you get a lack of variety, something the game already had from the start, due to only being packed with 12 maps. Don't tell me that 16-32-64 man maps make 36 maps, it is the same sh*t with less flags and less room to play or vice verse. Lack of vehicles in maps, lack of variety in vehicles, current artillery, lack of mobile artillery, lack of variety in maps, lack of proper weapons load-outs to select, lack of functional anti air on the ground, just to name a few.

Not to mention the reward system, you get rewarded for bailing out of a jet so you can parachute for 10 seconds and get a badge? That is just one example among others of rewarding people for stupid sh*t.

Yah, when I do play the game, I fly all the time and go after others. But that is not the problem, it is talking the other 90% into doing the same thing for their team. The rank system has killed alot of things for this game, people don't want to shoot down other jets because the can get a nice little gif image gold star just by dropping bombs, their only competition for first, is the guy dropping bombs on the other side.

I think it has really been a culmination of things combined. My own personal feeling, is a lot of what I stated and the fact that I don't like the feeling of BF being turned into a gimmick. Pay for a ranked server, pay for more content that should have been there in the first place and the pay for booster packs that offer what was normally given away for free in patches. It feels like they are trying to downright milk every last penny they can out of the BF franchise, and they are managing to get it. Overall, I feel bored as f*ck when I play this game, it is the same sh*t rehashed all the time, a total lack of variety.

It is a game engine that has tremendous potential, the game just isn't taking advantage of it. Hopefully the mods will.

                              How true.
It's like people saying "this server is crap I'm leaving!" when things don't go according to their liking. Well, good riddance, not like anyone cares about you or your temper tantrums.

The very fact people find saying "im leaving" as a method of expressing their anger is a sigh the game is very popular.

If you dont want to play, go quit, nobody wil miss you.

You can take down jets if you are in a jet, if you refuse to fly, well, its like a guy seeing a tank and just refuse to use the anti tank kit, too bad, go back to your counter strike.
