The guys got the same problem i had with bf2.

Ive got an Audigy 2 zs sound card.

When i had my sound setting set to use Hardware acceleration i couldnt hear any tanks or vehicles or firing practicaly.
So i went to options and just told it to play it in software.
Now i hear everything.

Something is wrong with your setup. That's a pretty decent card. You should be able to set it to hardware, medium to high quality, with EAX enabled. Assuming you aren't using USB headphones or speakers (they bypass the card), you should hear everything in pretty good simulated 3D.

hey how about the people wanting to change the current game can go stick there BF2 cds where it fits... or if you already tried that, just go to a different server where there are no planes.. or create your own server...

OR you can play the same game every one else is playing, and leave it the way its for the people think that the game is brilliant as it is... instead of crying and wanting to change the whole game dynamics just becasue they do suit you.

If you that worried about those mean old pilots! i suggest making your own server and kicking who ever kills you in a plane! its better than ruining the fact that planes are the superior vehicles in the game.

The game is fine only thing that needs to be fixed is the AA. Everything else can stay just the way it is.

I hear everything , even troops foot steps. I have heard bf2 run on pc's with onboard sound and its pants , you dont hear things like , distant artillery pieces firing , and some ambient sounds . If you are using onboard snd , maybe get a new snd card.

bs I have on board sound and can hear everthing, just upgrade your drivers and get some headphones

Why debate this?

BF2 is just as fun as when it came out, and its very enjoyable.

Do the SAMs suck?....yes they do. Will they fix the SAMs?....who knows, I hope so.

Are aircraft too powerful and ruin the game sometimes?....yes. Will they fix this?, who knows (maybe way better SAMs..hint..hint)

Does artty ruin matches sometimes...yes. Will they reduce the number of times a Commander can drop artty over a period of time?...I hope so.

Is bunny hoping getting out-of-hand?...yes. Will they fix it?, probably (good thing).

Despite these things, BF2 is very fun, and is essentially the same game it was when it first came out. Even though its been patched several times, nothing has really changed, so those who liked it before, will usually still like it today. Sure some of the problems mentioned above cause me to leave a server and search for another (when things get out-of-hand), but its not the end of the world. The biggest issue BF2 has right now, is it is hard to find a server where teams are ballanced. As we all know, nothing sucks more then to have the teams way out of ballance, where one team looses by 100 or more points. If there is anything that makes this game NOT FUN, its this. Unfortuatly, I don't think this can be fixed, however some maps can be patched to help this problem. An example would be Mastuer City. Eliminating Choppers from this map will make it as good as Karkand. As it stands now, the only time matches are awsome there, is when neither side has a chopper whore. IMO, fixing some of the maps specifically will improve BF2.

I find it a little hard to understand a lot of peoples feelings. Have the people that are personally attacking others opinions never been on the ground in a map with jets? You cannot honestly tell me that there isa realistic counter to jets other than another jet?

Helicopters fine, just shoot them with AT rockets if you can, but a jet is altogether a different matter. I think the people that have some sensible input other than "you must be bitter that you cant fly" or "Get a squad of 5 or 6 together to take down a chopper" should go and post in the thread about reducing airpower hitpoints. At least the people there are able to take an objective view about the game.

It's not fun anymore? Good lord, I've been under this delusion that I've been having more and MORE fun with the game. I mean, wow, just because I focus on what I'm doing and don't give a rat's rear orifice about who's making the big kills in the planes, it doesn't give me a right to enjoy playing the game does it?

I really must remember to be all worried about what other people are doing and let that annoy me to the point of destroying and entertaining pastime!

Actually it DOES matter when all that is happening on the OTHER team which is causing it to be FRUSTRATING and LESS FUN, which I think the poster was talking about. I doubt "people are getting better stats than me!" was his main focus of his thread.

I agree...quit worrying about the stats and have fun. If planes and choppers are getting you down...try a different tactic to taking them out...try team work...have fun...that is what the games are for.

I haven't been playing long but I can guarantee this. 9/10 times team work is outta the question. No one really does anything and I hardly hear anyone using voice. It's hard for choppers not to get you down when they are playing dirty and killing you. It just takes SOOO much fun outta the game when you join one, to get base camped by a helli twice as soon as you get into the game and when you finally get INTO the actual map, a jet flies by and kills you.

I think they should make maps that you can disable vehicles.. Unless there is and I don't know about it yet.

Well I think they game is the business. I do wonder why so many people play it and then complain that the jets are over powered, the Choppers tanks even APC's. When that makes BF2 much better than all the other FPS's in the first place.

In 90% of servers I can rape the other team with Jets, you know why, I can and will dogfight. Eventually the other pilots give up leaving me bomb the heck out of the enemy. Most of the time all I see Jets doing is going for nme base, despite the fact that they're losing or have lost most of the flags.

I've seen players now that have pefected these looping bombing runs that make them almost impossible to shot down. The armour in planes is too high dogfighting is dam hard work.

I say reduce armour so you get behind a plane a short burst of cannons and he's down, dogfights over in seconds, he's then vunerable to everything and finally CHANGE THE SCORING SYSTEM.

Half the points for kills, flag caps, etc and let everyone aquire points as a commander does. Put in some strict team swapping rules (maybe a 10/20 point penalty) and job done.

I havn't played the game since the 1.12 patch was released :P Don't think i've even downloaded it yet lol. And the reasons are not because of planes and heli's, mainly because i can fly both, if theres a plane/heli coming, take cover :P

Anyways, i've got to the point where i can't be bothered waiting hours for it to load, load a map, server changes map, wait again, get disconected from the server, retry, finally get on, then get connection problems or kicked for excessive teamkilling without fireing my weopon! Steam is so much easier (cs sucks, but dod source is well fun), browse server, click, and your in within seconds. One thing that i think would be quite interesting is deployable machine guns, and i think it could make support more fun, and then they can fire supressing fire, which can hit something, without luck :P

People shouldn't whine.. When there is an aircraft/chopper comin you should just run like the wind to some cover...
