Check back to my sweep 'n clear tactic. The DAO allows an ATer to secure his position before getting ready to take out armour. Before unlocking the DAO my biggest gripe with the AT class was getting jacked at close range by some sneaky guy while I was trying to line up a SRAW shot. Now I can defend myself.

It's also just about the ideal weapon for an ATer. You should be taking position in tight places to maximize your anti-armour capabilities. It's a sound principle and something they use in the real world. Get your anti-armour under cover!!

Then there's maps like Kark where there isn't as much armour to worry about, but it's still important to be able to take it down when it shows up! The DAO lets you play AT and effectivly engadge people in the allies and yet you are still AT capabile. BIG payoff!

Finally, there's the beauty of using the DAO against other ATs. I'm a teamwork sorta guy. I like getting a ride in an APC to objectives. Once there, I wanna keep the APC alive. This means any enemy ATs in the area just gotta get dead. There's nothing quite like the DAO for chewin 'em up... especially if they have been silly enough to not unlock it.

My very first time out with the DAO (I unlocked it accedently, I had no intention of picking it up after being sorely dissapointed by the jackhammer) I to mowed down 6 ATers in the above fashion.
    It was love.

There's a new unlock coming out for anit-tank in the next patch. I wonder if it'll be better then the DAO.

I would LOVE to see the RPG as an unlock. Might be a little tricky to implement since it's not a primary weapon, but I honestly love those low-tech suckers.
Taking down Hinds with RPGs is just SO fuggin sweet! 2 shots, down. No standing in the open waiting to get mowed down. No wonder the Mujahadein(sp?) kicked the Ruskies outta Afganastan!

Hey Ford Mustang I think I was on the same server as you yesterday maybe (oredrider in game name). Anyway back on subject, I like to use both AT guns equally well. To me it depends, DAO = city maps, SMG = all others. To each his own I guess.......Red

Wargimp I think you don't even have the game installed and then take acid to simulate such an experience. "Secure position before engaging armor" You must be joking.

                  Re: DOA, what's the point?

if you ask me, the DAO sucks
I hate the DAO, compared to the jackhammer for engineer, the DAO is horrible.

it doesnt do anything, and it take all day to reload. i hate it.
no matter what you do, the DAO always lets you down. if you shoot som1 in the face with the DAO, they turn around and shoot with the aK 101 or somthing and your dead before the secound shot, and since when should a shotgun shell to the upper torso no kill them with one shot?
to me, the DAO isnt worth ****, and the mk jackhammer is the better choice. i get more kills easier with the mp5 than with the DAO.

What's hard to believe about that?
I bail outta whatever vehicle I'm riding in and head for cover. Chances are, there's gonna be defenders already under cover, so I activly look for them. When I'm confident that my local area is secure, THEN I'll position myself to deal with any armour that might be in the area.

As for the other Armies I will not speak, but the U.S. only operates in standards settings with the default Eng Shotgun. As for spec ops in RL using the JAckhammer, who knows thats Spec ops.
actually the jackhammer was never a production shotgun.

                                no, TRUST ME, its BF2.
                                and the DAO SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS

its the worst unlock in the hole game
compared the the engineer mk jackhammer the DAO SUCKS
how many shot with the mk does it take to kill some1 and compared to the DAO.

                                i estmate MKJACKHAMMER= 2 shot
                                DAO= 5 to 100

the DAO IS A PIECE OF JUNK
dont get it for your next unlock, it doesnt do any good.
either does the pkm G3 or L85 medic gun, or the M95, the only thing it does is shoot through heli glass, and sucks at accuracy and damage.
the m95 sucks because it causes only enough damage to bring his health down to 3 bars, but takes another shot to kill him, all together 2 shot.
THE SAME AS THE M21. 2 shots

you wont a good gun, get the G36c, you will use that the most and get the best all around shooting.
for spec ops unlocks get the:
                                F2000
                                G36e
