Re: DOA, what's the point?
Check back to my sweep 'n clear tactic. The DAO allows an ATer to secure his position before getting ready to take out armour. Before unlocking the DAO my biggest gripe with the AT class was getting jacked at close range by some sneaky guy while I was trying to line up a SRAW shot. Now I can defend myself.
It's also just about the ideal weapon for an ATer. You should be taking position in tight places to maximize your anti-armour capabilities. It's a sound principle and something they use in the real world. Get your anti-armour under cover!!
Then there's maps like Kark where there isn't as much armour to worry about, but it's still important to be able to take it down when it shows up! The DAO lets you play AT and effectivly engadge people in the allies and yet you are still AT capabile. BIG payoff!
Finally, there's the beauty of using the DAO against other ATs. I'm a teamwork sorta guy. I like getting a ride in an APC to objectives. Once there, I wanna keep the APC alive. This means any enemy ATs in the area just gotta get dead. There's nothing quite like the DAO for chewin 'em up... especially if they have been silly enough to not unlock it.
My very first time out with the DAO (I unlocked it accedently, I had no intention of picking it up after being sorely dissapointed by the jackhammer) I to mowed down 6 ATers in the above fashion.
It was love.
