    Re: Success with Sniping

I like the distractions advice. I've let my squad run in to the square while I snipe from a roof top and inform them of anything coming, then pluck off anyone on the way in there ignoring me, if they're not dead they are wounded to 2 bars which I'll let my squad know

Good Tips! I love the M-95, i like being a , medium/close range sniper, if thats even possible, on karkand because their are so many good spots.i like killing guys with assualt rifles about five feet away just by zooming in on their head. the sniper rifle has the biggest advantage in a game becuase they are able to help in close situations while being able to take out targets in a distance(duh) SNiper For Life

You should both try reading some of the previous posts which tell you how to aim. Both you guys are stating nonsense tbh. Bullet drop and Leading have allready been established by the community and have been confirmed by EA/DICE.

I use to love my M95 .50 in the game but since the L96A1 came out that is all I use. I can get better shots with it and hit alot more enemies at a faster rate compared to reload and shoot times with M95. Both are good guns but IMO the L96A1 is a much better shot.

Yes, tank round drops but I know that when BF2 first came out there was no sniper bullet drop and it was confirmed by people making videos and the bullet didn't drop. I don't know if it has since changed though.

There is bullet drop on ALL guns, you only notice it on sniper rifles though.

For anyone who doesn't believe in bullet drop, join an empty server with a mate and stay 200m away. Your mate should be a medic to auto heal himself for non fatal shots.

Tell him to stand up straight and don't move. Make sure your crosshair is perfectly on his head, let the crosshair settle for a second or two, then fire. Will you get a headshot? Chances are you won't. You'll more than likely be hitting somewhere around the chest region.

Now, aim a bit higher than the head, and try again. Once you compensate the bullet drop enough, you will get a headshot.

                    good stuff.

the best kind of (obvious) tip i can give is:

Practise. get your hours up, cause whatever people say about whatever, will still not change your skill as effectivly as practise.

Good guide, i truly enjoyed it.

Come on folks, let's keep this sucker noticed...

Any moderators who happen to chance past, this deserves, and wants a sticky! 18 pages and counting.. can't be all useless.

In a more constructive tone, keep those suggestions coming. If they're at all valid, they'll probably be included in the original guide.

                          Re: Success with Sniping

i kinda need help, my sniping is still really bad, its improved a bit, but the main problem is not finding enough people, and they are usually running or attempting to(on and off sprinting). So do you good snipers have any more tips on shooting moving target, i usually miss 4/5 shots at a moving target(running across the scope lol).

                            Re: Success with Sniping

I feel your pain. Did you read the original guide? That'll probably offer some help. At any rate, I find hitting inconsistantly moving targets (that is, stop-start, or changing direction, or both) is a matter of practice and reflex.
It's a combination of judgment of bullet travel (how much you have to aim ahead), waiting untill they are moving consistantly (even for a second) and reacting in time to score a hit.

As complex as it may seem, it comes with practice.. taking potshots won't get you very far. Hitting a consistantly moving target is a simple matter of judgement that comes from practice. Hitting an inconsistantly moving target is that same, you just have to have the added speed to react when they start moving straight.

Doing all this, I can normally hit an inconsistantly moving target about 50-60% of the time, which goes to show how hard it really is. Just keep practicing!

i just wanna add something regarding movement. Unless you find an amazing spot and no one can find you try to move every 2 or 3 shots. It will keep the enemy guessing if shots are coming from all angles because otherwise the positions are predictable.

Anyway nice guide mate. I nearly always play as sniper and I can recommend this to new snipers.:)

thanks for the good reply flying egg but, i always seem to aim too far ahead, because i see them 300 metres away(meh i shouldnt be shooting at that range) and i fire way in front of them lol, but the bullet actually travels faster then i think. Got any exercises that will help, don't have any buddies to play with cos most of my friends play that bunny hopping game called CS
