you guys judge and jury and havent even tried the mp7.

I am a 200 h engy and I say the mp7 is a delightful change from the shotguns. I like the way it sounds, and I kill with it well. It may take half a clip to kill someone, but then again so does the g3 unless the target is still.
and no way does the mp7 have the same rate of fire as that SCAR-L.
This thing is like an UZI

I think it's a great weapon up close and up to medium distance, but then it's almost useless because you can't see what you're shooting at. If there's a way around this let me know.

I have routinely killed M24 operators with the G-36C at ranges where they appear as specks of dirt. You need to practive alot more with the iron sights to find the sweet spot for long range sniping.

The G-36C is the king of long range. Snipers get owned when dealing with a skilled G-36C operator.

First of all, thanks for pulling the data together. :)

Please check your numbers for the AK-47 deviation while standing/crouch/prone. In the Prima guide and elsewhere on the net I see those numbers as 1.5/1.3/1.0 versus the 1.3/1.2/1.0 you show in the table.

Also, your table lists deviation added per shot. In the Prima guide and elsewhere, the numbers you list are the maximum deviation added. For example, on the PKM, the deviation added per shot is 0.125, with a maximum deviation of 0.8. So after 6 shots your deviation added per shot is up to 0.75. On the 7th shot the deviation reaches its max of 0.8 and stays there for subsequent shots while on full auto. It would be good to know what the deviation per shot is for the new BF2:SF unlocks in addition to the max deviation you currently show.

jlspence thank you for the comments.
The numbers listed for the Ak-47 are correct. Maybe the numbers listed elsewhere are wrong.

The game's tweak file for the ak-47 has these lines:

          ObjectTemplate.deviation.devModStand 1.3
          ObjectTemplate.deviation.devModCrouch 1.2
          ObjectTemplate.deviation.devModZoom 0.8

which state clearly that the devs for ak-47 are 1.3/1.2/1.0/0.8 as listed in the chart in the first post.

Regarding the "Deviation Added per shot" you probably correct. However, for now I will leave the chart the way it is and update it later when I am less busy (maybe a week or so)

these spreadsheets and numbers mean nothing. in the actual game i have owned many a ak47 toting moron with my MP5, pistol, or even knife for crying out loud.

these number crunchers seem to be the same people constantly complaining about grenade launchers. apparently they are only capable of putting the crosshairs over an enemy and firing 3 shots to kill them, so i dont see why they should complain.

the G36E is far better than the ak 47 obviously, it is incredibly accurate and allows you to mow down moving targets from 100 feet away, standing up.

but WOW, THE AK 47 will kill people in 0.5 seconds faster in close range? who the hell cares?

like really, it takes 4 G36 shots instead of 3 to kill an enemy, but the G36 DOES IT FASTER, and is way more accurate!

perhaps this is why the people with the aks and g3s tend to suck so badly.

As far as the number of variables are concerned there is no grand standing..... things like deviaiton negation per game tick (affects pause time to eliminate cumulated deviation), deviaiton when moving forward/backward/strafing, deviation per jump/max deviation when jumping.

They all add up to influence how you use your gun... master this and you will master your weapon. Black duck didnt take all these into the table. They really are the killer variables that make the unlocks outstanding in the right hands.

Good deal. Thanks Duck...I believe what's in the game. I found inconsistencies within the Prima guide that make me wonder about its accuracy. For example, in the table in the back it says the rate of fire for the G36C is 600 rounds per minute. Back in the front part of the guide, where it talks about the various weapons, it says the rate of fire is 750 rpm. Similarly, it lists the mag capacity of the PLA Type 95 support gun as 100 in the table in the back but lists it as 200 in the text in the front.

Could you provide the filenames for the BF2 and BF2:SF where this data exists? I searched high and low but have yet to find them. I'm putting together a table similar to what's in the Prima guide and your table but that lists all weapons and all unlocks and all modifiers. Thanks.!

To find this data and even more you need to look for a file in your game's folder that is called "Objects_client.zip". you need to extract it to a new folder. On my PC that folder is 1.05GB. You will find the info about anything in the game in that folder. You can also find more data in "common_client.zip"

I understand that, as someone said, that there are many many variables that affect a weapons "rating" as a good or bad or whatever, however, the ones I listed are the ones I thought are the most important ones. I just need to list more details about the deviation added per shot.

                          IntensivCareBear...
To say that you killed too many "morons" who have an ak-47 with your mp-5 and say that the mp-5 can be a better weapon than the ak-47 "if you know how to use it" just tells how arogant you are. Please be resonable when you make a comment to protect your credibility. Did you say "morons"!? anyway!

Some people said they like such and such weapon because it "sounds better"... etc. Does it really matter if your gun says BOBOBO or BEBEBE?!
Probably the only thing that affects a weapon that is not listed in those files is how the crosshair looks like, but you can get used to that... not a big deal really.

BTW, from looking at the INI files, the MG36 goes at 900rpm. This effectively makes the MG36 do the most damage per second. Also, it has a faster reload time than all the other LMGs.

I really do not remember how I got that number and cannot find it again. However, bf2s agrees with my info.

                              check this out:

                              Edit:
I just verified the fire rate for MG36 using BF2 MOD editor and i found it to be 600, as mentioned in the first post. It is NOT 900. So the PKM is still the best.

One can only compare variables for the weapons that one can find data for. Some replies to this thread throw out variables that are missing from the original post...OK, then find that data like the original poster did and let it be considered. Let's take "deviation negation per game tick". Is this in the game files? I'd be surprised. Actually, one would suspect that as soon as one stops shooting (lifts off the left mouse fire button while in full auto), the deviation calculation begins anew with the initial minimum deviation. Let's take another...deviation while moving forward/backward/strafing. Again, I'd be surprised if anyone found anything in the tweak files for this. Why? The point around which deviation is calculated is the weapon's crosshair. As one is moving forwards/backwards/strafing/jumping the crosshair is moving as well. The movement of the crosshair is already providing deviation about the target.

The whole point of tabulating data like this isn't to necessarily say one weapon is better than the other. Obviously, any weapon is only as good as the person using it. Look at data like this with the following caveat: Skill is not considered, or assume skill with all weapons is equal.
