I really do not remember how I got that number and cannot find it again. However, bf2s agrees with my info.

    check this out:

    Edit:
I just verified the fire rate for MG36 using BF2 MOD editor and i found it to be 600, as mentioned in the first post. It is NOT 900. So the PKM is still the best.
No, really, go to bf2 under EAgames, go to mods, go to BF2, and look for a zip file that is called objects_server, go in, and go to weapons, then go to hand held. Click into Mg36 and go to the tweak file, open with notepad, it doesn't say the rof because it's the same as the weapon before it, which is the G36E, that has 900 rpm. THis pattern is seen throughout these files. For ExamplE: go to G36C, go to tweak files, it says 600rpm, then go to G3 next to it, it doesn't say the rpm as it's the same as the one before it, 600rpm. THen go to M16A2 next to the G3, and inside it says 900rpm, as they change it from the 600 rppm the weapons before it have.

      Thank you for the details.

BF2 mod editor does not do any interpretation. It is the official EA tool to edit the game.

Go and install the mod editor. Run it and choose to edit "bf2" mod (Which is the original game by itself. Do not create new mod)

In the resources menu to the left choose objects>weapons>handheld>usrif_g35

Now in the tweak menue go to "Fire" and click on "+" to expand the list. You will find many specs for that weapon. The first one is RoundsPerMinute which is clearly 600... period!

I updated the chart to include the Jump/Strafe/Forward deviation values. I do not think they are that important, but it is fun to know that they exist anyway!

so the m16 is again the least powerfull rifle in a video game...not suprised. That thing never gets any credit.

Maybe I do not have that good knowledge about assault rifles in real life, but as far as I know the M16 is among the best. The problem is that EA modied the real damage of each weapon to "balance" the game and make it "more fun", but ignored the 3-bullet thing! maybe they were supposed to increase the damage a little bit such that the 3 bullets will kill a fully healthy target.

Re: BF:SF Unlocks details. Comparison with the other BF2 weapons.

Dealing with the support guns, I'm not yet sold on the PKM beating the MG36. The MG36 NEVER overheats, which while its not like that would happen that often, it still is a plus. The MG36 seems to reload and deploy a lot faster, though someone could check the time on it. And in my experience, fully zoomed and prone the MG36 has more accuracy at super long distance than the PKM. That slight standard deviation is enough to mean an extra hit, which may be enough to kill them. If the support class is your speciality, I'd get the MG36. True, every weapon feels different with practice. But I've played both weapons equally (and NOT in succession - it was on a friends account)

Also, compared to the POS auto-shotty that the MEC engineers have, I'd take the MP7 any day. Besides, pistols rock in this game!

This is a misinterpretation, there are default values for some weapon properties, in case of ROF that´s 600. So when you don´t find a firerate for a weapon you know it´s 600 (Just in case you don't wanna install the mod editor).

Yeah, if it was more realistic, the AK101 would do the same damage as a M16. Anyways, the M16 is a very good AR in all areas except reliability. It needs to be cleaned FREQUENTLY, that means, before u sleep, u clean, before u eat, u clean etc. Anyways, 3 shots from a handgun in the chest would kill somebody easily (without body armor that is), they just toned down damage for the sake of balance.

i disagree with your assessment of the mp-7 although i prefer shottys. If you put MP-7 on single shot it has okay accuracy at medium range, as compared to the shottys which cant hit anything at medium range. It comes down to if you want close range power with shottys or if you want the option of a longer ranged gun with less close range power.

So what is the advantage over the pistol if you put it on single-shot mode/midium range? They both take 5 bullets to kill a healthy target and the pistol is very good for midium range (not sure what you mean exactly by mid range, but I am assuming it is something you cannot hit with a shotgun).

Can you actually attack and kill two/three guys with the mp7 and kill them all? you can do that with the shotgun/G3/AK/DAO. At least I do it a lot.

there isn't much advantage over the pistol however you still have the option of full-auto with the mp-7, and i think it might have a little more range over the pistol not sure though. I know some people would rather have an automatic gun over a shotguns, so they may feel the MP-7 is better for the engineer. I however like shotguns i'm just pointing out that MP-7 isn't total crap

The pistol causes damage 20 up to 100m (which is a lot I think) after 100m the damage goes down to 8 at 200m and more. I usually do not care much about people 100m+ away. You really need to get a vehicle or whatever to get there.

I think at the end it is a matter of taste, as you said, some people prefer those guns over the shotguns, which is fine.

Personally I like to have either a shotgun DAO-12/MK3A1 or an AK/G3 these days. that changed a lot since I started playing the game last summer. sometimes when you get used to one toy you start thinking it is the best.

I used to play with the G36C a lot, but not anymore. I am not the type of a person who like to snipe the people from a distance. I like to attack a flag and kill anyone in my way then captue it, hopefully.

yeah me too. recently ive started play as an engineer and sneak into enemy bases lay mines by their vehicle spawn points, and take out anyone who spawns at close range. While i used to play Spec Ops or Medic with unlock at hit ppl from a distance

I got to unlock the G36E, and the MG36 last night, and I am truely amazed about both those weapons. The G36E kicks some serious butt. It is not very good at close combat, but if you see an enemy's silhouette somewhere down the alley, all you need to do is point then tap the mouse button twice to see him go down. And he WILL go down after two bursts out of the G36E
It's awsome if a bunch of people keep running towards you, just keep hitting the burst key. I've decimated numerous squads incl. medics, and squadleaders with this baby. And it takes forever for the clip to empty.

The MG36 is a lot more accurate than the other MGs. I was under the impression that I'd hit my targets a lot more consistently with this gun. It is not as good against enemy boats, and helicopters as the PKM though.
