Program was killed about 2-3 years ago.... so I would say it is pretty slow. :)
I know nothing of the Coast Guard.... other than their border protection missions. And while I too seriously doubt Fallout was an Apache pilot.... dont be too suprised at who you may run into on the forums. I know several Apache Pilots who play the game religiously as well as visit the forum here.
Rgr, I just figure that when a pilot of anything comes on here to debate about the vehicle they fly/flew, they wwould provide some useful insight and some actual specs, as opposed to "it's terrible" or whatever he said, what a Fing joke.

The Apache is slightly faster than the Chinook, around 4 knots faster, the British helicopter you are referring to is likely the Lynx which holds the record for the fatest speed ever attained in a helicopter, but it was aided with rockets IIRC. Standard lynx goes around 140 knots.

IMHO, the Hind looks like a bloated, beached whale. It dosn't look like it should be able to fly, let alone kill stuff. The AH-64, on the other hand, just oozes "Death Machine", it's mere appearance is startling.
The one thing I never liked about the Hind was it's so f***ing big... I could hit the thing a mile away blindfolded with a slingshot... It looks like it would handle like the afore-mentioned whale, but after some reading about it, it looks like it'd be pretty good.
All in all, I'd have to agree that the AH-64 is superior, just because it's a proven machine. You can't say you're better untill you've proven it, and flying around at airshows is vastly different then blowing up tanks from 5 miles away. Who knows, maybe Russia will invade Unpronouncableistan and totaly pwn with the Hinds, but untill then, my loyalties rest with a tried-and-true combat-tested design.

It frustrates and generall ****es me off when yankies brag about what they have accomplished :x Firstly, the British are well known to have the best education in the world which is why when you get a degree here people all over the world want you. You talk about building the Apache etc but who are the real brains behind it? Yes, the Brits! Due to States being able to provide the benefits and better salaries you simply take the best from here in the UK and work in the states. It is a fact and this has been said in BBC news as well as in mulitple Computer magazines. Frankly in game with the Hind's abilities it will be a formidable weapon. It can insert troops into spawns and cover them as they take it, and its armored like a damn tank. Also with troops in the back it can be resupplied and repaired in the air, so it never has to hover for anything. The major draw back I see is that the Hind is a large helo, and flies much slower than other attack helos. Prime target for missles and .50 cals.
The Apache is a very fast and nimble helo. It'll be able to duck in and out of battle quickly, and is faster than a Cobra.
So basically in game the team with a Hind will have a strong gun ship with troop carrying capability, but it'll be a target for anyone with a big gun and a missile because of its size and low handling.
The Apache will give the US a stronger and faster helo, but cannot carry troops.

Hind has proven itself in combat even before Apache did.
Well both Apache and Mi-24 are good but at the same time old...models.Sorry for my bad english,but I think you understand what I mean to say.
I don't know what is US military current development,but russians have some very interesting helicopters developed in past decade.
By my personal oppinion the Ka-50Black Shark helicopter is probably the best attack helicopter today.And there is a Ka-52Alligator,a side-by-side two-seat combat helicopter designed as air-to-air combat helicopter, intended to eliminate enemy frontline helicopters.
To bad there is no Russian army in BF2 equipt with those helicopters.
