in 27 years they only made 2000 of these, that doesn't seem right.....they were loosing 2 of these a week at the height of the Afgan war?

The Soviet war in Afghanistan was a 9-year conflict fought between the Soviet Army and rebels in Afghanistan. The war is generally held to have started December 24, 1979. Soviet troops ultimately withdrew from the area between May 15, 1988 and February 2, 1989. The Soviet Union officially announced that all of its troops had left Afghanistan on February 15, 1989.

The initial mission, to guard cities and installations, was expanded to combat the Mujahideen rebel forces by mostly Soviet army reservists.

They are heavy and slow. Apache is far better.

The Hind is faser than the Apache, in both cruising speed and maximum speed.

Its hard to tell wether the Hind or the Apache is the better Helo.

The differences are minimal, and since war is not this stupid card game where you compare just manufacturer facts to each other and go like " HA ! my Helo has 0,002mm thicker armor then yours, it totally pwnz y00!"

Both do their job perfectly.... there is even no point in argueing which is the better one.

I can only stat my opinion and say that the Hind looks a lot scarier(and better)

ps:
i dont know how russian equipment manufacturers exchange technology among each other, but if they do, the Hind might even have a superior targeting and missle guiding system.
But even if.... both kill tanks and and other installations with almost 100% precision and can level a city block in mere seconds.

The Apache just looks as though it would be one of the fastest out here. However, I am pretty sure that Chinook is actually faster (a little so... but not by much) as well as the British army (Pretty sure it is the brits) has the fastest military helicopter out there (230mph?? - saw it recently on the military channel). Cant remember which it is and am not in a location where I can look it up at the moment.

However, I am pretty sure that Chinook is actually faster (a little so... but not by much) as well as the British army (Pretty sure it is the brits) has the fastest military helicopter out there (230mph?? - saw it recently on the military channel). Cant remember which it is and am not in a location where I can look it up at the moment.

What about that Coast Guard helo with the internal tail rotor, is it the Dolphin or something like that? That sucker looks pretty fast.

The Apache is slightly faster than the Chinook, around 4 knots faster, the British helicopter you are referring to is likely the Lynx which holds the record for the fatest speed ever attained in a helicopter, but it was aided with rockets IIRC. Standard lynx goes around 140 knots.
