BF2 is a horrible game. I stopped playing this crap 2 months ago
because of many of the reasons posted here. A totally imature
player base, a joke of a game publisher who provides no support
nor finishes a game, and too many other reasons to list.

Its funny for all you who dislike airpower to say it involves "little skill" and "noobish tactic" etc etc.

If its so easy why isnt everyone flying? if its easy why cant you fly?

it also reminds me, in any of the servers I have been to, I have never met any pilot like PlaneWhore, most of them gets 1 kill every 10 minutes if they are luckey, I really dont see how less than 1% of skilled player dominating the round make the game "unblanaced". If you meet a very skilled armor driver he will dominate the map as well, its the same case.

Im not saying AA is fine, its not, but it should be tweaked purely to balance the game, not to satisify your whines.

If you want to improve the missiles, balance it by making the locking circle smaller, you dont have auto-tracking anti-tank missiles, why should you have an "I-win-button" against jets?

If missiles are improved it wouldnt hurt us pilots either, infact I wont be surprised if more people become plane-whores after the missile improvement. Imagine instead of requiring skill to gun-town that chopper, anyone can just launch a missile? After the missile improvement I foresee a whole new thread dedicated to how missile is too overpowered and how choppers are dropping like flies.

actually AA is quite effective if you can get your team to work together and man multiple sites at one time.

for example, i was having a great round flying at Gulf of Oman today and the MEC team decided to man 4 or 5 emplacements all at the same time. (this was later in the round when they were starting to get peeved with me strafing them over and over) it's quite a bit harder to dodge 10 inbound missles than only 2. and yes, i did get shot down...

i don't plane whore i don't live my life for bf2 points i just fly because i like flight games and bf2 flying is simply more fast paced simplified than falcon and lock on games

i understand that often noobs waste planes and ignore teamwork but thats their communication problem i always have voip hooked to my squad and a non-idiotic squad leader will ask for help to take out a chopper,jet or tank in their way with their actual voice unlike so called 1337s complaining with useless words or just sit still or stats whore on a hill somewhere

if u think all i do is bomb tanks and unable to shoot choppers or j10 with f35 then go home and cry because you are wrong. if ur weak, don't build ur happiness on other people's pain

and for all of you people who enjoy planes try 64 player size maps and the new wake island plenty of planes to fly and lots of air to air action

I dont think it ruins the game. Personally your only seeing it as so, because the blunt fact is you su*k and frequently get owned by flying planes that are weak as **** in the fact 2 missles from the cobra can kill it.

If you cant fly and help your team defend thats your fault, and I'll personally straight up call you S*up*d. Why? Because I had to learn how to fly to help my team in the air, and now I consider myself pretty good at it.

Wait a second. He sucks.. because if he's on foot trying to capture a flag, some bomber streaks past and drops 5 big ones on him, he can't .. what? Can't shoot the jet down with his pistol?

I agree completely with the AA issue. I was playing Oman today and took out a F-35B just for fun. I found that if I made a continous loop from the carrier to the MEC airfield and back, I could time it almost perfectly to drop bombs on their airfield when the jets respawned.

There's an AA site right there, and it was manned 7 times out of 10, and they never even touched me despite the fact that I'd deliberately fly straight at them. Several times.. I didn't even dodge! The missles just flew right over my wings as I dove in for the kill, I'd gun down the AA guy then collect 2 or 3 kills from the people trying to get into the jets.

Just as a note before I get to my point: I could barely comprehend that dribble. You seriously need to learn how to type and put your thoughts into a coherant format. Because really, it makes you look like a complete retard.

Anyway, on to my point.

There's nothing more worthless than someone who starts screaming, "omg u just cant fly!1one!1" in reply to this sort of thread. Well, I fly, and I'd blast your retarded ass out of the sky anyday in a jet versus jet confrontation. It's just too easy though. The most-effective way to kill another jet is to use your cannon, and that's just wrong. It's seriously flawed.

Why? Because ground defenses don't -have- a cannon. The carriers do, but they're present in what, 2 out of the 7 or 8 maps that have airpower? And they're not conviently located to support the attack/defense of the infantry.

When you have a game such as this, you need balance. It's just way too frigging easy to trash people on the ground with my bombs and cannons and never have to worry about taking damage. I frequently play in one jet for a whole game and not take a single little [] of damage from any source, despite being shot at dozens of times with AA and AARAMS.

And the fact is, if -you- were really a good player you wouldn't be worried about AA sites being able to actually hit you, because you'd have the skill to deal with it. All your protests show is that you're afraid of losing the big fat advantage of being able to shoot people who can't really shoot back.

I imagine you're the same type of player who would jump into a tank and kill people over and over, then complain when you get your ass blown off with a SRAW.

Even the best player in the game can't down a jet with a rifle, and there's no measure of skill involved in being a jet pilot right now. Once you know how to get off the ground and not crash into things, it's just noob heaven, of being able to kill without any sort of risk.

Tell me, why was flying made so easy, but countering it so hard? The game favors pilots obviously. AA shouldn't need 32 hours of training to get a goddamn blackhawk off the sky!

Those who says that AA is good, hasn't played enough of Wake and OCS.

In Vietnam it worked. There was no fudging buzzer or flares. And it was almost only jungle so that missile could come from anywhere.

I know you all probably think I'm just saying this because I'm not a pilot...maybe that's true, but here me out. Airpower is just ripping apart this game. If the other time has 1 more good pilot than yours, first off, any strategy or team work becomes impossible. If you are getting shot at by a sniper you can take cover in an area where he can't get you, and perhaps sneak up behind him. If you see a tank coming, you can run to an area where it can't get you. But when there's airpower in the game all you can do is get in the AA, get in another aircraft, or die. AA is luck as far as I can see, and airpower...well, what the heck kind of strategy or teamwork could you use there? Aircraft is just about aim and experience as far as I can see. Second, where's this rock paper scissors system EA speaks of? If air is paper, what are the scissors? AA misses 90% of the time, and gets a team kill another 7% for no logical reason. Meanwhile it just takes one quick swoop from the heli or jet and that AA is blown to bits. Worst of all is the ability they have to repair. If you damage a heli or jet (damage a jet, aren't I hiliarous), you can get it off your teams back for a few seconds, but get no credit for your help. Fourth, airpower has no reflection on the skill of who it kills, just on the one doing the killing, unlike infantry, tanks, and maybe even AA. It is just like artillery, you simply need to stay out of large crowds and hope to god you get lucky. I don't have anything against pilots. I don't blame them for using airpower while it is there, but the airpower is just taking so much out of the game.

I feel you man, but in all honesty, air should dominate, hence the term, "Death From Above". However, the AA system is bent. The scissors? Thats your team's jet. The lack is not only on EA's part, but also the other players, if they have better pilots, well, you'll have to devise a strategy to get around that. When the enemy has air surperiority, it's time to let go of Blackhawks & Super Cobras and possibly armor, depending on their aircraft, and dust off the rifle. At that point I would respond with guerrilla warfare. Start laying mines, using C4, hiding in buildings from the aircraft, try shooting their helos down with rockets, sniping, and staying the hell away from AA turrets or jump on and run off as needed.
One thing however, that dissapoints me, is when I saw the video for BF2 before it came out, it gave the impression of being able to 'paint' targets for aircraft. That would be very helpful, calling in strike on tanks and heavily fortified enemy positions.
