99% sure its illegal and would just get the account restarted or deleted.

Having sold some of my past MMORPG accounts, simply because I get sick of the game and I'd rather get at least SOME of my money back than just let the character dissolve into nothing, it is legal to sell it, as long as you claim to be selling "The time spent while playing this character." It is, however, illegal to sell "This character/account." As long as you're just selling the time, it's all good.

And I was wondering this myself the other day. I checked ebay, still no BF2 auctions.

why not, other RPG's do this already, like WoW, they use bots to get accounts and then sell them on ebay.

Selling accounts make no economic sense. Let me explain:

If I wanted to, I could go out and work at McDonalds for £5.50 an hour. I could get better jobs, but let us use this as an example because it's minimum wage and doesnt necessarily require: a) any kind of qualification or b) the ability to speek English. So anyone can do it.

Now I've been playing BF2 for about 60 hours and Im half way between Lance Corporal and Corporal. Let's extrapolate this out and you can see that I'll be a Corporal after a total of about 100 hours of play. Now if I were working at McDonalds I would have earnt £550 in that time. If I sell my Corporal account on eBay, am I going to get £550 ($1,000 approx)? I doubt it.

Let's take another example. I continue playing and get to Sergeant. At this point I'll have been playing, say, 220 hours. If I had been working at McDonalds then I would have earnt £1,210 ($2,200). I highly doubt that I'll get that on eBay.

So we've established that selling BF2 accounts is less profitable than working for McDonalds but there are other factors to consider:

1) Short of doing illegal work (ie. below minimum wage) you cant earn less than a job at McDonalds. You could do a lot better without much effort.

2) In any case, you arent going to make enough money out of selling BF2 accounts to support your living expenses, so it isnt going to take 220 hours @ 6 hours / day for a total of about a month to make that Sergeants account, it's going to take you several months playing BF2 in the evenings.

3) Playing BF2 is fun. But then again, it becomes a chore when you're just manufacturing accounts to sell them.

In short, you may be able to make enough money for it to be worthwhile on $RPG with it's massive fan base which always seems to include a few fanatical nutters who would like nothing better to buy a level 86 account with seven earthenblade magic elf rings or whatever, but on BF2 having a "high level" account really isnt worth it, when if all you want is unlocks you can start 8 different accounts and have them all at Lance Corporal before you've gotten one account to Corporal.

Yes but the person would have had fun whilst playing the game, plus I;m guessing he wouldn't be building up the account TO sell it, just a decicion made later.

EH!? I don't have a pounds button on my American keyboard, but if I recall, 1 pound = $1.80, so in England you're saying they make about $10/hr flippin burgers?! Over here, they make minimum wage, PERIOD, which for me is $6.10/hr.

I'd buy and I would sell, if I had the setup for it.
I would lock some people in a room with bf2 while I was at work and also at night when I wanted to go out with the missus. Then go online after about 3 weeks and sell the sucker. I would then use the money that I got from the first account sale to setup a larger size room, like a gymnasium and have about 10 accounts padded up to create even more sellable accounts ....ohhh think of the money and lifestyle changes I would be a BF2 PIMP HA!!

I don't really think that BF2 has the farming potenial that RPG's have but I'm sure there are many people out there who would love to say that they are eXp.ElekTriC.

That's because different countries have... wait for it... different minimum wage laws. Technically the minimum wage in Britain is £5.05, but that isnt really the point.

I used to play a MMORPG called Project Entropia .... (www.project-entropia.com) some of you may of heard of it .... there is no monthly fee and it is free to dl and play, the only problem is the ingame currency.... you deposit say $10 and you get 100 PED (Project Entropia Dollars) to buy guns armour ammo etc etc. Accounts on that were sold for upwards of $1000 but they would be locked if MindArk found out. There was some INSANE transactions on that ... a virtual Isalnd sold for .... wait for it ..... .... $26,500 yes thats right over 25 grand or £13,700.

The prices of items in this game is also insane, the best armour set will cost you upwards of $3500.

Ppl were also selling Americas Army accs for around $100 it was always fun to keep killing noobs with 65+ honour :P

sweet jesus ! :laugh: I wish i played that game when they sold stuff around those prices , the thing about selling stuff from RPG's is your haveing fun playing and your earning cash while doing it but since the companys that made the games dont like that if they ever found out your account would most likely be reset

the most ive sold virtual property for online (cottages,mansions,and villas) would probably be around $200

EA could make some extra money out of this...

You buy the game with the normal weapons. For some extra Bucks you get extra and better weapons. He who has the money has the power...

So there could also be some room for weapon dealers (all virtual offcourse) who could make some extra money with it.

that would probably make it too much like an rpg if it had weapons dealers, etc and then people would just complain more about EA being greedy and chargeing for every little thing they add

hmm selling accounts as long as its legal (or in this case the time spent playing with the account) i did sell the time i spent playing AA (40 honor) just cause someone asked for it, he gave me 75 euros for it and i see him playing often with it, properly that is. but its doubtful BF2 has the potential, and as for the weapondelaer lol yeah imagine US and MEC troops sitting at karkand waiting for their guns... salesman: so what'll it be? US soldier: hmmm i want one W 2000 30 cal. a socom and 2 thermite grenades, salesman: thats it?? thats 1150 dollars including the beer, cash or creditcard???

its not. it never has been in any game online i've played and seriously doubt it has been legal in any online game i havent.
