its not. it never has been in any game online i've played and seriously doubt it has been legal in any online game i havent.

yes it is as long as you write in your sale that your selling the time and effort you put in the account and give credits, cause its a trademark, and its still possesed by blabla corp. blabla etc. as long as you write that in it its okay. mind though this only counts for WoW and AA.

well anyway if you have an account just rotting away, not being used or whatever reason, i dont see why you wouldnt sell it

read the fine print. your account, character, all those items you hunted rare monsters for weeks to get. they aint yours.

if you continue to read the fine print you will see that whoever runs the game reserves the right to change or withdraw their service to you at anytime for any reason.

I don't have any plans on buying/selling my account. But what would stop someone from doing it? Drugs are illegal also, who cares about a BF2 account and if some dip wants to buy it. Are the EA police going to bust you? I think not...

This is done all the time in other games, for example EQ, DAoC and SWG (if you dont know what those mean...then your not a true gamer :) ) Anyways it is not illegal as long as once you sell the game/acct you give up all use of that acct. I know there is alot of money being made in those other games, but they have more time into them than this game, so Im not so sure that there is money to be made in "leveling" your BF2 account and selling it on ebay.

Well that depends on many things, Ill use Dark Age of Camelot as my example here as that is the MMO that I play, but I know EQ is/was similar.

In DAoC when the game first came out it was difficult to level and people were selling their level 50 (max level) characters as fast as they could do it. Back then a level 50 was selling for $800-1000 on average. Today the game has been out for quite some time so a "seasoned" account as you put it needs to have at least 3 level 50s on it and then lots of good "equipment" and the accounts still sell for anywhere from $150 to $500 dollars.

Now since BF2 is a totally different game Im not sure what one would sell for, I would say it would have to be a minimum of Staff before anyone would sell, and even at that I would say maybe $200 max for it.

I personally have never sold or bought an account as that takes part of the fun out of the game, its no fun buying an account already "done" for you.

Also, the types of weapons you have unlocked under that account can increase/decrease the value. If you were an idiot and unlocked the Jackhammer, Dao-12, M95, and G3, then you'll probably lose a good $30 net profit right there.
