Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
I was having these problem about a week ago. I just got a new PC and installed BF2 and patch straight to 1.03.
I get disconnected every 20mins or so. Tried mostly everything (reinstalling, etc) and didn't work. I have a DVD version of the game that came with my geforce 7800 card. So, I decided to try starting the game with my friends CD version since he didn't seem to have disconnection problems.
I was able to play 3 hours straight without a disconnect. Restarted the game with the DVD version again to see what happens and more disconnects. I've tried this a few times and for me, it does seem to be the DVD version of BF2.
I've also tried starting the game with the DVD and then taking the disc out after it launched and that seems to help me stay in games longer. Don't really know why but I hope it might work for someone.
specs:
AMD 64 X2 4200
Windows XP pro SP2
2gig ram

Got BF2 the day it came out, played it just fine wireless/cat5 for months. Optimistically I installed the 1.03 patch, and for the last month all i exp is constant connection probs and ping spikes going all the way up to 1023, while normally my ping is 20-50. Naturally i reformated, watching other machines on my network running BF2 with no probs in the same servers nonetheless. So far my efforts to narrow down the culprit are fruitless.
Reformat for a constant disconnect problem? That is a bit extreme to me, not really a "natural" solution.
The same problem I get is when I play in servers with 64 slots. I have no idea what is causing it, but I am pretty sure it is something with the "Ranked" servers. It does not happen with the unranked ones at all. Give it a go and see for yourself.
Will EA do anything about this problem? Seems alot of people are having connection problems, and it seems to be caused by the new patch. I payed 60 bucks to play the game not to wait 3/4 of the time loading maps after i get disconnected.
I have *kind of* the same issue. I can connect to a game just fine and get in and all is well, but then when the next map loads i get disconnected. If i try to join any other servers I also get disconnected without even playing. If I restart the game I am able to start the whole process over again... help
urban..
are u using a wireless router? the DMZ settings are only aplicable to people using wireless routers.
if u are then tell me which company and i'll help u out..
ps. im on fusin bb too (melrose) and cant get BF2 working without the connection loss prob.
I had this start happening a couple weeks before the last patch. I installed the patch the day it came out and it started working fine until last night when I started having this happen again...
I tried some experimenting and I think, at least in my case, the Windows Message thing (the file msmsgs.exe) might be the problem. I tried ending it under Task Manager and the game seems to run fine and then after a while will get the connection lost again. I check Task Manager again and sure enough the msmsgs.exe is in there again. I have this service stopped under Administrative Services, but it still pops back up on its own.
i've had/have the same problem + more too. I'm using xfx7800 GTX, amd 4400 dual core+a8n-sli+2gb ram+64 bit XP
Lost data connection (fixed with a bios update)
BF2 random crashes to desktop at the end of a round (still occurs)
BF2 freezes and have to reboot (fixed with downgrade of nvidea drivers+the affinity setting it up to 1 cpu)
Yep I live in Melrose of Gainesville too and I get this exact problem. In fact I sold my copy of bf2 to someone I know. I've search every BF2 board for answers as well as emails to fusion and EA....oh yea a lot of good those did....I noticed this problem doesn't occur in the dead hours of 4-8 am...as far as I know it is the connection and I also have not seen a solution that works.
