In fact the whole thread should be mailed to EA.

This has to be THE worst issue with BF2

      Re: Constant Connection Loss

Got BF2 the day it came out, played it just fine wireless/cat5 for months. Optimistically I installed the 1.03 patch, and for the last month all i exp is constant connection probs and ping spikes going all the way up to 1023, while normally my ping is 20-50. Naturally i reformated, watching other machines on my network running BF2 with no probs in the same servers nonetheless. So far my efforts to narrow down the culprit are fruitless.
I have tried an onslaught of suggestions Updating PB/Deleting Cache/Checksum/Restarting Modem & contacting ISP/changing various ingame settings such as Vid res-Textures-Sound settings/switching routers-No router-DMZ-Port forwarding-Tried 3 different NIC soultions-Firewall on/off/Checking for packet loss/UPDATING every !!$%#@!! driver on my box/Slipstreaming windows process wize/... im sure im forgeting a slue of suggestions.. etc Still the problems are the exact same, as i watch much lesser machines "Hardware wize" have absoultely no probs at all, on the very same network.
Meanwhile I play many other games online with NO PROBS at all.. I call EA tech support for BF2 1-650-628-1005 during biz hrs... but who's gonna wait 30mins on the phone just to hear some dumbarse that prolly cant answer my question or give me my money back. *glances at 12gauge* might make a nice 49.99$ clay pigeon.... No?

Still impressed with HL2!! Source rulz

Have you tried replacing the modem (assuming you can get the cable company to do it for free). I was having all the same problems with BF2, yet every other game worked fine. Last week, I had the cable modem replace, and suddenly, not a single connection problem...not even a hiccup.

My theory is that BF2 is just more sensitive to connection issues then other games.

I have started to get this error also, all other games work but I can't play bf2 online for 5 minutes before getting connection problems. I really don't want to replace my cable modem for just one game, and I doubt my cable company would replace it. I think the patch had something to do with the error because even after reformating the problem still occurs.

Its not likel to be your equipment. I think its the prevailing conditions on the internet that cause this. At some point the pack loss becomes high enough to cause BF2 to barf. Oh, and I doubt its the patch, I've had this issue ever since i got the game prior to any patches.

I think not... at least in my case, trouble started just as soon as i patched & problems happen constantly, late at night during peak hrs, early in the morn. I think maybe the problem might be hardware specific possibly there is a common hardware config or setting tween all of us having this problem. What i do know however is searching the Ea support forums they dont even recognize this problem at all.... we arent even getting the blind eye. Prollly cause they've already spent our money. lol

                  I couldn't agree more.

As I posted on pages two and three, I had this problem then it seemed to go away after my format... now it's back. It got progressivly worse, as I didn't have it, then did with a handful of servers, and now seem not to be able to connect even to the ones that did work without getting booted (and at times when I do, it disconnects me when I try to make/join a sqaud). Single player and LAN games work just fine... As many others have, I've tried all the suggested fixes, no other games have any issues, and I got rid of my Nvidia firewall in favor of another. I really enjoy this game when it works... as we all seem to... but I've never experienced more issues with another game of this caliber.

                  *sigh*

It makes me wish they'd fix it and, for all the trouble and issues everyone is having, give us the expansion for free... I'm not mad, I just want it to work.

I also am having these issues. Occasionally before the patch, now, after the patch, I lose connection about every 10-20 minutes no matter what server I am on. It is so bad that I no longer play with my clan in matches.
Looking at all the posts here I think this issue will cause more people to leave this game than those that said they were leaving due to ranking up taking to long.

After much troubleshooting on my system and having no luck finding the culprit to my (connection loss/ping spike) battlefield2 nightmare. I took a broader look at how i was using my soundcards to run bf2, I have intergrated sound ov'course & i have an external card i run Optical to my 7.1THX stereo digital reciever of which i was using both. I have found "AT LEAST IN MY CASE" that disabling the external card and updating my razer mouse drivers, has somehow fix my problem. I can play for hours at a time now and exp little if no connection/ping problems whatsoever morning/noon/night, dispite peak hrs. Ping is back at a constant 20-50 average. I dont want to get other peoples hopes up, just figured if i found success i'd share it with ya's.

Well, I've tried everything and none of it worked... except switching the priority to CPU1 (I've got an AMD 4200 X2).

                            Now it works a treat.

Tried running it the 'old' way and back came the disconnects.

                            Just my tuppence worth.

                                Re: Constant Connection Loss

This is for everybody who gets the connection loss problem.
I play the game on a laptop (wells its pretty decent: 64bit 3400+, gig or ram and a x600pci-e) on windows x64.
Being able to play on the laptop means that when I take it somewhere I get to change my interent connection.
At home (no kidding, melrose minneapolis) I keep getting the connection loss, though im able to play other games online without any problem. The other day, I had taken it to a friends house who uses aol and guess what! I played for an hour and a half without getting any server disconnects. So, dont bother with formatting and changing sounds drivers (wholly cow!!) just pray that the next EA Patch solves it.
Better than that im hoping someone here finds a solution.
Also, hope my situation helps you guys.
