I have used ramming as a tactic though, for me it comes down to the team. Mat City is a prime example (and the only map i have used this a tactic on) A full BH with engineers will absolutly rape the MEC team if they are even decently good. I noticed this, being MEC myself, that on the first round of the map we lost 180 to 0 (few minute round not fun.)

So, in an effort to take away that team advantage and give my team the win, I used the MEC copter (which was never used) and took it on a nonstop ramming mission to the BH to take out that mobile advantage. I also notified the other team that I wasn't going to stand by and let the rape continue.

Being the not to shabby pilot that I am, I rammed the full blackhawk a total of 5 times for the round, and virtually left the other team with 6 inoperative players, and a chance to take the victory. We did.

The other team applauded my tactic, knowing they also had to take me down with the miniguns before i Rammed them, it worked once.

    The point of this?
My team didn't have the teamwork ablility, nor the mental capacity to fire an AT weapon at the BH's (they were too busy trying to assult one another with nadelauncher in usual bunny fashion)
I took it upon my self to take the BH down with the only tactic available to me, and the result

    Victory
In war, this is all that counts.
I need cookies and milk for this one lol.

    Warfare stories at midnight, LOL!!

as the blackhawk stands right now as a flying fighting platform, i say go for it, ram that sucker. after the 1.03 patch when it hopefully goes back to being a form of transport? ask me again then.

If there are any decent attack chopper pilots on your team then there should be little reason for you to ram them, unless you're just doing it to rack up the points (which I'd class as a little cheap). If, of course, you're already up in a plane, a blackhawk poses an immediate risk and there aren't any decent attack chopper pilots on your team then only a simpleton would get angry at you for ramming (it being your job as a pilot to kill enemy airborne targets). Personally I spend quite a lot of time up in Blackhawks and don't mind getting rammed, at least it makes a change from the pilot planting it into a cliff-face.

For the purists, its all about some level of realism.

I mean, why did DICE go through all the trouble to implement thier ELABORATE WEAPON DAMAGE matrix & realistic weapons systems if they werent trying to create some kind of quasi-realistic combat environment?
Is that why they also gave helicopters a lifetime supply of flares that they can drop, to guarantee any missiles that are or would have been fired at them miss, and then can drop again in about the same amount of time that it takes a jet to pass and turn around?

Seriously, ramming the BH is lame? *All* of the choppers are exceedingly difficult for a jet pilot to take out without going so slowly they not only become guaranteed kills for any enemy jet in the area (since the jet flares take forever to reload) and pretty easy for even helicopters to take out (yeah, THAT's realistic for you), but half the time you'll just fall out of the sky. Besides, when you fire your missiles even WITH a lock even a BH can avoid them (or they just decide to miss) and then you get to watch "Team Vehicle Damage!" "You have been punished for a Teamkill!" scroll through your screen a couple times.

Use the gun? Better hope that you are some knid of uberpilot then and can kill all the engies in the chopper before the pilot simply turns tail and lets 'em repair the bird while he runs for cover. Or waits for a friendly fighter to come blow the piss out of you because you're hanging right aruond the stall speed and can't possilbly avoid getting shot down, or some guy in a jeep machineguns *you.*

Sorry, if I'm the only friendly fighter up and there's a chopper whoring against my team, it gets one chance at 'stupid pilot syndrome' (3 missiles to see if the pilot knows where his flare button is) and if that doesn't down them/chase them off they better be as good at dodging jets as they are at dodging missiles, especialy if I'm already being chased around by another fighter (that whole "can't slow down to get a 'legitimate' kill bit").

If the BH pilots want to whine about it that's fine, they can start listening to the rest of us whine about how they barely need to be able to hover to convert a flag in a BH and how their squad is racking up points faster than our whole team can manage, and how their death-ray miniguns are just plain silly.

Attack choppers you can at least down in a few passes of gunfire (or gunfire followed by a mid-air collision when they dodge in the same direction you try to break for another pass) and are rarely worth colliding with intentionally (unless you're already done for), because unlike the transport choppers they *can't freaking repair themselves in mid-air* and thusly can't just ignore you (even though they can still drop flares fast enough that you have to slow way the heck down to even have a chance of hitting them instead of your teammates). So, constantly ramming attack chopers, that could get old (not much overall gain). Blackhawks? Full speed ahead...

Well i have to say on the map mashtuur city if your on the mec side you've got to ram the BH its invincble . And dont give me well work in a team and uses your AT rockets can you seriously do that on a pubbin server were everyone is on doing there own thing except for the clan thats hogging the BH . Its completely unrealistic to ask that of normal people BTW AT stands for anti tank not anti blackhawk if you could lockon with a AT missle far enough but you cant .

I have never ever done the raming tactick until today i think suicideing is stupid but when i saw my team lose on mashtuur city in 5 minutes something daft like 150+ to 0 i got realy pissed. And away i went straping c4 onto the mec heli and suiciding the basterds but unlike someone else on this thread that was aplauded for his actions the clan that was whoreing the BH decided to votekick me . And when that didnt work a couple of them changed teams so they could steal the heli or jump in and then punish me when i suicided FOR CHRIST SAKES i rammed that ****er 6 or 7 times and that particular clan still had around 100+ points all i was doing was trying to even things up and take out the flying tank. But you know what gave me great satisfaction is at the end of the map my team won by 20 points it was only 20 points but we won .

P.S. I Do consider swaping teams and nicking the mec heli (AND NOT USEING IT) to stop me and get your clan mates more points CO-OPPING which is tantermount to stat padding . SO IF THAT CLANS READS THIS THREAD BE WARNED I WILL REPORT YOU TO ANY LEAGUE THAT YOU COMPETE IN IF I SEE YOU DOING THIS AGAIN .

i was in a server last night and this guy was getting yelled at for ramming by the admin but its a hell of a lot better than getting pwned by the bh every time you spawn, i just kept telling the guy he shouldnt listen to the admin cuz he is gay and any one who bh whores are gay and should get rammed

I PURPOUSLY RAM BLACKHAWKS, i dont even bother to shoot at them  . Im sure if i wanted to i could easily shoot them down but i prefir to let the pilot get 5 tk's. Aim just high of the tail and just bail out. The plane hits the tail and the bh starts to burn. Then they try to bail and the pilot gets all the tk's. THIS TEACHES ALL YOU BH WHORE A LESSON!
Besides they never get back in a second time cause no 1 wants 5 tks
and they never know who ramed you since you bailed so you cant really get banned

(although when trying this is would be pretty embarasing to get shot down by the BH miniguns )

LOL. I can't help but laugh at some comments. Cheapest tactic there is? HA! How about capturing a flag in 1 second with a helo armed with mini guns that insta kill infantry, armor that can absord more missles than a tank, unlimited flares and an impressive ecm package that makes missles miss without flares.

                        Cheapest tactic there is. LOL.

Oh and it can repaired INFLIGHT AHAHAH.

But ramming that bastion of cheapness is the cheatest tactic. AHHAHA.

good show. 5 forgiven tk's on a pilot is -20points.
but who are we kidding, ppl dont blackwhore because they are good players, of course they all punish the pilot. pilot gets kicked, no more blackhawk to worry about.

                            I know the feeling...

The BH is way overpowered. I've seen BH's survive attacks from all side's, with rockets flying all over the place, but just not hitting it fast enouf. It takes a lot of damage in one try to take down a BH with a 6 crew ( Pilot Medic, and the rest Engeniers ).

I've also flown BH's with configs like this, so i know how devistating it can be. Maps where the other team is overwelming better, the whole game gets turned around when you start using this tactic. Suddently, its cap, after cap after cap. Turning the enemys 6 or 7 flag advantage to maybe a 2 advantage in a mather of a few minutes widout much effort.

It's even worse when you are in a attack heli vs a BH ... Your hitting it with rockets, while your gunner is putting loads of bullets in it. And the daim thing just keeps on flying. Even a "normal" BH widout a repair crew is not so easy to kill. The repair crew makes it almost impossible.

When i'm in a BH, and the plain hits me ... i accept it. The same can't be said about being in a attack heli, sinds those are to weak vs a plain. So if you hit it on purpose, then the person doing so, is a weak pilot in my eyes.

When you are in a APC, or in a tank, you can't repair it, sinds your hands are fixed to the gun's. So you can't repair it widout stepping out. So Transport heli's may not be repaired from the inside in my book. Also, Transport & Attack heli's need to be excluded from flag caps ( and this is coming from a guy who love's to fly those heli's ). BF2's expansion showed a BH with ropes from the side, where people are dropping down from. This! is the correct way to cap. People on the ground. Looks like they forgot it in BF2.

Btw: to the person's saying that attack heli's are to strong vs Tanks/Apc's. Learn how to hide your armored vehicle. Dont drive with it in open & plain sight. Stay between house's, use tree's as natural cover etc. It's like yelling to the attack heli pilot: "here i am, please kill me". Ofcourse they are going to rape your ass with rockets. It takes a lot of rockets for a vs a tank ( unless you hit it just right ). Learn how a attack heli pilot's does his runs, and chance the way you move. When i'm in a APC, and i spot the heli in time, i can evade most of the rockets in time ( making it only a 50% damage ). Know your enemy. When you see a heli starting his attack, see how his angle of approche is ( note, this require's knowhow of actually piloting heli's ). When you know how the rockets behave, how the heli can maneuver, you know if you need to stop, reverse, turn etc to avoid getting the full load of rockets on your neck. Then, drive for cover as fast as you can before the heli can turn, pop smoke, step out, and quickly repair.

Also, is it just me or is there way to much difference between the US heli's & the other side's. The US attack heli is way more maneuverable then the opposition, yet, it seems to carry almost the same armor, same firepower. Same deal with the transport heli', the BH seems to have more armor, doesent fly like a freaking pig, and the mini guns are devistating.

On the US side, i almost never see a unused BH, while the other side ... well ... the pour thing is more grounded then anything else ...

O yea ... anybody ever seen a BH with a medic as pilot AND Squad leader ( aka mobiel spawn point ). It doesent mather if you gun out the repair crew. They just respawn in the heli, and start the repair job all over again.

I fly a lot and I usually do not try to ram the helicopters. But a rule of thumb is if a Helicopter and plane go head to head, the jet always has the right away to pull up and the blackhawk has to cut throttle and go down. Jets climb faster then helicopters

I think this is a perfectly legitimate tactic. Missiles seem to have a hell of a time hitting helos regardless of whether flares are dropped or not. Sacrificing one plane for a helo with the armor of a tank and insane killing power, as well as its 5 or 6 occupants seems like a good trade off.
