Blackhawk vs Jets: Ramming Ok?

I dunno. I don't seem to have a problem dropping blackhawks with the FAV or ANY of the jets. Don't use the missles, use the cannons.

If you have to ram the BH to bring it down, you're not a good pilot.

Well, from what I've seen, the most useful thing that comes out of the BH tactic is ridiculous scores, not capped flags. I keep seeing these teams manning a blackhawk doing nothing other than gunning/repairing/rearming. On the levels where BH "whoring" is abused, like Mashtuur city, they rarely ever use the BH to take a flag. My guess is because they'd get brought down the instant they hovered. Instead, they fly in circles for 20 minutes, doing nothing other than gunning/repairing/rearming. Sure, its a tactic, but its ALMOST stat padding, when it serves no other purpose in the game than earning those on board 100+ points per game and doing nothing at all for the other 20 people on the ground.. If they were actively defending a base, capping flags, or spotting for a fireteam, its a worthwhile and a valid tactic, but we are all well aware that this is one of those "fringe" tactics that gets abused most of the time.

So to make a long story short, the BH Whoring tactic is a weak one, and so is the jet-ramming solution. But I'll support our kamikaze friends until the day I die because at least they are stopping an obnoxious trend. The completely talent-free approach of loading a half-dozen of your buddies into a bird and stat-whoring a map so that you can get more precious points toward your next promotion.

Until we meet in a tournament, my opinion will remain that these stat-whoring plebes (the BH pansies) won't stand a real chance at beating any team until they learn how to play on the ground like the rest of us. Until then, let them fly lazy circles around, and around, and around, and around, while the infantry players gain real experience and accuracy. They can have their precious medals, ribbons, points and promotions.

I'll take bragging rights over points any day of the week.

ramming blackhawks with jets is the cheapest tactic i have ever seen. nothing pisses me off more than when im flying the BH and some noob crashes into me and i get 5 TK against me. honestly, either take a BH down fairly or leave them alone. i really dont think the game was programmed in such a way that the only way to take down a BH would be a suicide jet. i really hope something is done about this in the next patch, i dont know what, but something should be done. and for all the people complaining about BH whoring, why not complain about spamming nodes with the tank, or bombing the crap out of locked nodes with the plane over and over again. honestly, ive run into these things alot more than people who BH whore

You can easily shoot a BH down in a jet (just lock onto it and shoot cannons, either the pilot crashes or you shoot em down) but making the pilot get 5tk's prevents them from trying to BH whore again. If you bastards didnt whore pts in a BH so much them mabey people wouldent ram ou so much

well, everyone has their own opinion. the blackhawk was designed to move troops around and cap flags, the plane was not designed as a suicide weapon to destroy BH's, plain and simple. i find this extremely cheap, and out of all the times i have flyed in the jet, i have NEVER suicided into another chopper to get rid of him.

Watch me ram that full loaded hawk in the game and scroll thru 5-7 kills every so often and I will walk away from the game with 60-100 points simply for the kills.

EA and DICE will need to seriously examine all aspects of gameplay in BF2 and adjust it so that we can at least have radar on the AA, missiles that actually work and helicopters offer a "Losing" battle to a horde of engineers on board.

I believe that visual distances is part of the problem in the game. They need to go ahead and expand it to 12 miles or whatever it is and introduce weather and nighttime to the mix.

Make the weapons work properly and give everyone a fair shake then we might actually see some decent gaming.

Has anyone stopped to consider that the Blackhawk is one of the most debated weapons in online gaming reaching back across several companies and 5 or so years?

It's time we ask for a patch that will actually cut down on the hyper accurate teamkilling missiles, poor sight distance, poor detection/lock distances and too even flare/turnaround times.

Until then I ram em. It is effective. Works with a minimum of fuss and totally discourages the opponets from choosing the helicopter option.

I think its a lame tactic. Right up there with bhopping, and run-over kills.

In a sense us peeps create our own gaming environment. As much cheesy arcade action there is in BF2, I like to think of this game as quasi-realistic. When I play I try to use real tactics from the real world. Ramming is just silly because its never used in any real armed conflict.

you need to check your history. ramming has been used in real conflicts.
i wonder if you get the kill if you set your jet to ram the helo and then parachute out before it hits? now that would be funny

I always do that! Thats how you make the pilot get the Tk's . Aim you plane just above the tail and bail out, you plane hits the tail and the BH goes up in flames giving the pilot the nice gift of 5 tk's. And you still live!

You quote is for a part correctly. The BH was designed to MOVE troops around. Not to conquer area's with. That job is up to the troops, who actually need to get off a BH in order to do it. That's real life, and how a BH really works like.

Your right, the current plains are not designed as suicide weapons. In WOII, the japs stripped there fighters, and filled them up with explosive's. They litterly produced a bunch of flying maned bombs with 2 wings on it & a engine.

I dont remember the details specificly but, it was a close call for the US force's on there way to japan. They sank a lot of ships, and damaged a lot. Think they also sank a carrier using this tactic. If they had more plains, the fleet going to japan, was going to be stopped. Even the US commanders of that time called it a close call.

Yet, the same anology apply's here. Use one life & plain, vs 6 possible dead targets. Use 20 plains to sinks a cruiser with 500 man on it ( most of the plains never got pas the AA flak. It's kinde hard to get past AA flak when you are flying bombs ) ...

Dice can fix this problem with ease. Make it so that troops in a heli can't cap anymore. This will force BH pilots to land, and people need to get off. Then those people need to get on again. Instait of 3 seconds for a cap, its going to take atleased 7 to 10 sec, and the people on the ground are more exposed. So, if those people are engeniers with just shotguns that can't hit the broad side of a barn at 50m, vs oponents who have medium to long range assault weapons. Atleased it will be more fair to the ground troups, sinds they can take out a few man.

usually i jus switch to bomb mode and machine gun the BH...

but who knows under extreme circumstances i may ram...i did ram 2 apcs today in my own BH to stop em capping a flag hehe
