it's selfish, this way you take a good spot and denie friendlies to access.
I've been denied access to sniperspots because of friendly claymores more then ones, and it's really anoying if people do that.
I don't care if it prevents enemies from coming up, just learn to watch your back.

I don't mean to flame you , but laddermining sux.
Hell, let a couple squads of snipers up on the crane to snipe, they're invisible, right? The more people that are in a spot, the more movement there is, the more kills that are coming from that general direction, the greater the chance of discovery. Now, instead of the enemy commander having to decide if he should arty just one guy or not, he is now guaranteed two kills. You've just ruined the spot for the both of you and caused your team to lose tickets unnecessarily. All because you're not inventive enough to find your own hiding spot. Good job.

I've been sniping and had an assualt guy come lay down near me and start firing grenades. May as well put a big neon sign above my head saying "SNIPER HERE!"

Ughh, they ruined my day when I was in the bomber seat of a Su-34 and totally owned. Problem is, the camera is black and white and it also locks onto friendlys soo.....
I got like -20 for teamwork and 20 kills and zero deaths. Ughh.

About Arty TK's..... There's a reason you get a warning about artillery in your area, not to mention the big blaring Arty symbol on your minimap.

          Just my opinion.

I never punish unless someone is being an a$$ to me. Some idiot runs into me with his blackhawk while I'm in the cobra, which causes me to tk my gunner. He'll punish me just for the hell of it, then I usually find a way to get him back.

The TK feature is set to punish by default. It should be forgive by default. Alot the punishments are by the user not interacting with the screen. Notice that alot of your notifications of punishment also coincide with the expiration of the notification. Some people I accidently TKed didn't even know that I TKed them.

Of course there are still people who punish no matter what.

It depends on the situation about 80% of the time i don't punish for accedental TK's unless it something like i am repairing a tank and then the guy in it reverses over me and doesn't say sorry or my own team shots me down with a stinger, useless bastards.

On the last one, there are times when you'll have a full lock on and fire yet the missile decided to go for a different helicopter anyway. Not much the person can do about that.

I never punish unless it is blatantly obvious its on purpose. That said, I get punished EVERY damn time for any accidental TK by these pathetic punish happy retards. very frustrating. But maybe I should just feel better because I am not a pathetic dumbass like they are. I have even TK'ed some moron on accident that decided to stick his head in front of my rifle, said sorry, revived him!!!! and the a$$hole STILL punishes me!!! Lamer!!!

True, i've been on a stinger site and have locked onto an enemy helicopter only for the missles to suddenly make a 90 degree turn and take out a friendly heli...sucks when you start out with -16...

i do hate it when i look at my score only to realize that i have -11 points and I don't even know how?!!!

By the way, there are some ranked servers with the punish ability turned off. The 24/7 ACTION [WtF] WeThat Fight server is one that I remember by name that has TK punish disabled, I've ran into a few others. I try to play on these servers more often as I get tired of people sprinting into the sides of my tank then blaming me.

I am talking about in a plane and normally its when i have no deaths in the match.

Same thing applies to planes, actually it is even more likely. You fire at a jet and there is no telling what that missile will actually go after.

Not really there is jack **** of chance hitting a plane when aimming at it with a stinger let alone accedently.

Re: So when exactly is it appropriate to punish accidental TK's?

I only punish in cases of exceptional stupidity. As I have racked up more hours I have come to see that many things which I used to consider exceptionally stupid are in fact stupid - but not exceptional. So I have been punishing less and less. About the only thing I have punished for recently is snipers placing clays pointing directly at spawn locations at a friendly flag. Few things **** me off more than spawning only to find myself looking directly at a clay.

                                A few hints:

                                (1) Don't put clays on the doorway at the top of the tower on Sharqi. :)
                                (2) Unless you are standing *directly* in front of a tank, the driver can't see you and probably has no idea you are there. Just stay away from tanks unless you are actually holding down the "E" key.
                                (3) For engineers who are trying to be helpful. Maintain some distance between you and the tank you are repairing. Even the rocking motion from firing the main gun is enough to cause a "run-over" kill. Hopefully this will be fixed in the patch.
