So when exactly is it appropriate to punish accidental TK's?

I was just curious... if you have punished a non-intentional TK, what exactly was your reasoning for doing so?

My guess is that there are very few people here (reading this forum) that punish accidental TK's b/c people spending the time reading this forum, etc. are people who like the playing the game as intended, ie. as a team whose goal is to win the map. And those people who punish TK's are little kids who bought the game just so they can spend an hour or two every now and then just running around and trying to shoot people.

I NEVER punish for an accidental TK, unless the person who TKed me punished me for a TK first. IMHO, the tk punish feature is there to get intentional TKers off the server and make them pay in points as a method of deterrence if they want to do that kind of crap. **** happens in this game. No matter how good you are, you're going to accidentally TK from time to time. If you punish for an accidental TK, then you HAVE NO BUSINESS complaining if someone punishes you for the same. Do unto others and all that...

Punishing for an accidental TK is just weakness of character in my books. It's just being a cry-baby, whiny, little girl. What does it get you to punish for an accidental TK? Nothing! So, quit being an infantile little cry-baby!

sometimes I will punish a tk if a guy is being a real ass to me. Like this one time this guy tked me just to get a tank, the next round on a different map he was sniper and put a claymore on the top of ladder. So I said "hey wedge either take the claymore down or I will do it for you." He was like "How do you take it down, n00b." I was like set off the claymore or I'll do it for you and punish you. He was like "come on don't be a dick." I was like maybe you shouldn't have been a dick last round. I climbed up the ladder, got tked and punished his ass. It felt so good, in a vengeful way.

depends on your definition of "accidental" TK - are you including acts of stupidity here ??

eg:- The Tank tard that drives over the engineer he asked for WHILE his tank is getting repaired AFTER the engineer got his attention ?

eg:- Spec Forces Lobotmy cases and their "cunning" C4 ambushes ?

eg:- Jet pilots that cant look at a mini map and realise the AAA is on THIER side before bombing it ?

If you include examples like this as "accidental" and yes often they are accidental, then ok its probably right to punish them - after all its how they learn :-)

if not - then wear the TK, $hit happens sespecially to Commanders and Chopper Gunners - dont TK punish them for the occasional stray round/arty strike

I punish for accidental tk's if they're negligent.

Eg, I'm capping a flag, and my commander decides my exact position is a great place for arty... punish. That's because I don't think it's ok for a commander to drop arty on friendlies, and then blame THEM for not running out in the open past three enemy apc's to get away. Fair enough, if I run into the arty it's my fault, but if it targets me it's not my fault.

Or if I get bombed when I'm capping a flag and there's no enemies around, I will punish. If he'd looked on his mini-map he would have seen that I was at the flag. I barely ever tk others with bombs when I fly, and I do a lot of bombing. It's not difficult to look first, bomb second.

Other things like grenades or just getting in the line of fire I don't punish for.

But what really shits me is people who think if they get tk'd, accidently or not, that it's ok to tk back. If you don't like people who tk on purpose... don't be a hypocrite and tk them! It's just as bad.

It's not supposed to be used unless the TK is intentional... it's the server populations way of keeping out tk'ing jackasses.

As a matterf fact I just was in this predicament. I had managed to fend off and apc 2 guys and was taking the flag it had gone neutral my teammate spawned on me and a pilot bombs us out as it turns cause he wasn't paying attention!! To boot he gets credit for capture!!! What would you have done??

Solution is simple, Punish every time.

                      It's all even then.

I'll punish if they throw a nade or arty me if I am ALREADY THERE. Otherwise I'd forgive. If you shoot me from a plane or bomb me I'll usually forgive. Kind of depends on my mood since you can look at your nav and see a blue dot.

My thoughts exactly... Commanders should use arty when there are enemies capping flags, but sometimes they use arty on own teammembers when they see that flag is being captured. Now that's definitely worth a punish.

I don't like vigilante's and lynch mobs either. I just don't get the point why you should hunt down the guy that just killed you...

Never if it an accident. Though, that being said, if the same idiot keeps killing people on their side by doing the same stupid things I could see it warrenting a punish.

As far as I'm concerned a player who accidently tk's will always apologise (I have on the few occasions I've comitted tk's, and quickly too). If no apology is forthcoming then I'll punish. Sometimes it's the only way to learn for someone new and not used to how the communication system works - I learned the hard way first time I accidentally tk'd, just like I learned fast the hard way after running into my own teams artillery.
