I was playing on some server last nite and I called a guy in a blackhawk a stupid stat whore for well flag whoring...(100pts. a round). and he calls me a n00b, thats ****ed up isnt it?

well, do you thing that it will be fixed in the next patch? while I personally like to fly in cirlces around a enemys flag and let my gunner provide air supporrt, i dont sit there and get the flag myself. do you think that when blackhawks rape the entire area while team gets flag is whorin??? just curious

OK, so I'll break my own rule and post here despite numerous other posts on the topic, but I do like how the discussion is shaping up.

I agree that it's not easy to get a really organized BH team functioning together. Since starting to play, I can say that it's only really happened three times for me. Mind you, there have been dozens of failed attempts where we lasted all of about 20 seconds before getting blown out of the sky.

The few times it has worked have been when everyone spawned together, filled multiple roles with their chosen classes, actually took suggestions and listened to each other, and -- I think this is critical -- fully used voice communication.

My experience has been that unless you have all of that in place, you're just one big sitting duck.

If you get a great Blackhawk crew... you are damn near invincible. I've only tried this "technique" a couple rounds (4000 pts in 100 hours isn't stat padding :p ) ... but I laughed at all the effort to bring us down. I wish I could remember the pilot's name. But it takes a smart pilot and a full load of engineers that have their wrenches out *all* the time.
Tanks, stingers, LAVs, jets, attack choppers... Pfft. Just shook off the damage. Sooo many times we had only one or two bars on the armor meter.
(BTW you can do the same in the Chinese chopper)

Anyway, just wait for the chopper to leave and take the CP back. More points for you, too.

I tried it out for the length of one map. Scored around 150 as did the rest of the Blackhawk squad. Obviously we have different definitions of the word challenging. You definition seems to have it meaning piss easy.

Anyone who thinks whoring the blackhawk is hard if you have the right balance of players in it e.g. a couple of engineers and two gunners really should forget about stat padding and try playing the rest of the game.

I suppose it depends where you play. We don't run a server full of noobs like those who complain here and don't even TRY to shoot us down, so perhaps my analysis is skewed by that fact.
The fact is when we do this, we need:
1-A great pilot who needs to spot danger spots, fly in and out between buildings and towers while keeping guns lined up, get engies in a position to repair safely, watch his population in the chopper to know when to bug out of the area, and spot for the rest of the squad on voip.
2-Two great gunners, with good aim and good comms to communicate where to move the chopper. Often one gunner will be engie, and must know when its safe to pop over to help with repairs.
3-Engineers who know where to throw mines, know when to repair, coordinate and spot enemies for the gunners and the pilot.

In addition to the "twitch" skills necessary for the gunners, the squad needs to coordinate to spawn in as the correct kits, get in the right seats. You need tons of communication. Basically, the epitome of what the Battlefield series is geared towards. Does it not make sense that playing in this vein rakes in points? Especially on noob servers, which I cannot speak to because we run a quality server with good players.

As I said before, there *does* need to be balancing with it. I've suggested longer repair times while airborne, and longer times capping from the air. But to hear people speak around here, it's SOOO easy to do this. Maybe against a noob team, but not against ANY semi-coordinated team that actually gets in the gunner positions or shells you. Personally, I don't want the game altered signifigantly because common pub noobs decide to never work together and complain instead of learning how to counter something. The balance of this game should not be decided by the lowest common denominator of noobs.

Come play on krackhouse.net servers, and then tell me how easy it is.

I still hate the BH whores but I don't believe they're as strong as I use to think. As people mentioned on these forums, the vodniks and grenade launchers can take them out. I sometimes make it my job to take down the BH. I guess you can call it blackhawk hunting.

Now if all the noobs would stop driving off in my vodnik just as I get the BH on fire.

if we have enough guys in ventrilo, and the map dictates it, we'll flag/point whore it up in a BH, sure... I'm usually one of 2 engineers in it, along with a medic and support person... But invincible, nah. Its certainly a challenge, and if your pilot is smart enough to keep an eye on the dmg and get u up out of harms way, its damn hard to take one down...

However, despite all our flag/point taking, we got shot down several times. Also - for the engineers to be effective they have to sit in the back of the chopper...I can't begin to tell you how many times I got shot out of the helo - by all kinds of things, nades, ALL rifles, stinger, apv's, etc.... If you can't take down the helo, blast away into those big open doors and you'll cripple its ability to fix itself and its passengers... Hit it there, and then a stinger or 2 will take it down..

Its a tough thing to fight, but as someone previously said - if youre on the ground, let 'em take it, then take it back. Just remember, the toughest thing your fighting in a good BH squad isn't the guns, isn't the BH's armor, its TEAMWORK. Create some of your own and you can deal with BH's or any other good squad...

just do what i did last night. I got my 1st unlock last night and i got the sniper unlock.
there was a bh flying over one of the CPs he kept moving around but was staying in the general vicinity. i ended up killing the pilot and they all crashed, lol. it was freaking funny as hell. i ended up killing 2 of the guys inside before i got the pilot but was still fun.

nothing worse than sitting in a jeep, lets say on dragon valley shooting at the BH or China lump of crap when someone jumps in the drivers seat and just drives away

Well on most servers blackhawk whoring is very easy. Most of the times the flags they are capping have maybe one or two players at them or are undefened. The gunners don't need to be that skilled as the splash damage on the Blackhawk mini guns means you only need to hit close in order to kill.

I really don't see the skill in this. I am sure on some server of pro's the whoring does not work as well but on 95% of pub servers as a tactic it is virtually unbeatable because you won't have enough team support to beat it. It takes far less team work to whore the Blackhawk than it does to beat one being whored.

Still I think it is lame but in all honesty it does not bother me that much as I don't play on ranked servers a lot and you don't see it as much on non-ranked servers. The odd time I do play on ranked servers though it amazes me how badley this inbalance is exploited. The biggest crime to me is it is actually really dull compared with the real game but I guess whatever floats your boat and all that.

While you spend the entire map playing with your wrench, the rest of us are actually having fun.

Get it out of your system, DICE has already mentioned that they're going to 'adjust' the transport copters.


Oh yeah, keep having your ringers post how 'easy' it is to take a blackhawk down, cause they're doing a real good job of fooling us... not. A properly manned and operated blackhawk will only be taken down by a jet ram, copter ram, or 2 guys who know wtf they're doing in an attack copter. That isn't what I would call 'balance', but maybe I'm just stupid.

I blame stats I really do. Players that will sit there for half an hour just pressing their left mouse button just amaze me. If you tried to get someone to do something so monotonus in real life forget it but because it adds to some figures in a spread sheet somewhere people will do it endlessly and proclaim how skilled it is. The only member of a blackhawk squad who needs any skill is the pilot.

And as for the guy with the winning comment that is funny. You think other players think what a good job you are doing where as in truth probably players on both sides think you are a twat because your little blackhawk squad have ruined the flow of how the map plays. I have seen a lot of good maps end in less than 5 minutes when all flags can be capped due to blackhawk whoring and just how fun is that for either side? When this happens most players on both sides will have barely seen any fighting.
