Interesting with some of the replies. Just remember you need proof if you are going to publicly accuse. A screenie is always the best.

For those of you who arent sure of a hack or run into them often, they do exist. But I think you already know that. Being that most of you have a very good understanding of the game, it should be fairly easy to spot a hack user.

Here's how:

1. Watch the leader board. ID suspect.

2. Switch sides [if need be] and join his squad. No squad? Then ID and follow around.

3. Stay behind as directly as possible and watch his gun movements and the tracking of targets through buildings and walls. They KNOW where everyone is at.

4. Aimbots automatically track the next target. It's a "snap" effect. There are enough battle recordings around to help you understand what I mean.

Now this by no means it is out of control, but they are there out there, so dont kid yourself. I have found that the favorite weapon so far has been the Ganz as I find players that are moving and shooting accurately with it. If you have ever used that weapon, you will know the crosshairs are as far apart then some people's mouths on these forums.

Ganz is my favorite weapon so I agree that, no matter how skilled you're at it, the recoil and spread is so large that you can hardly retain 25% accuracy even from static position at medium/long range. It's a great weapon but it looses advantage at close range. That's why on 1-on-1 situations, a Voss will kill you 9/10 times.

But the problem with hackers becomes *major* over time. Many clan servers let their members stat pad with hacks in one team, so the only thing you can do is leave. And it's not that easy to save proof of aimbot or heath hacks unless you have a video capture. Last night I put 2-3 shots with the shotgun on a gun's face from 3 meters and he still kills me without a scratch (he went on placing RDX). I'm not the game police nor EA is a court to examine proof, it just wants the game up and running.

What score? Who said hacking had anything to do with score? Or even decisions based on it? I only look at thier score to back up some OTHER evidence that somebody may be hacking... if there is any problem at all.... not as a sole base for it. Hell I do ok myself sometimes.... and also I never claimed to be anything special... when did I claim that? But believe it or not i've been banned from servers (full of noobs I would suspect ) from doing well before.... which is really sad because I KNOW there are many LEGITIMATE players who are definately better then me.

Besides, I've seen people with somewhat crappy scores who where definitely hacking (got caught even).... so you could still suck really bad even if your using a cheat. I've seen it. :P

Well hacks do exist

Heres the master ban list for BF2142 from punksbusted. There are screenshots in a lot of them.

BUT and a big but.

How many people play BF2142? Thousands. Tens of thousands. Over half a million soldiers names registered. Obviously not that many actual players but its a lot.

ONLY 1225 players banned by punkbuster. thats not many.

Thousands of players out of hundreds of thousands might not seem like alot, but it's all a matter of perspective.... first of all how many of those 400-500 thousand who are registered players are actually still active? Like play every week? Every day? I know I play many times a week regularly.... but I have people on my buddy list even that I used to see alot way back when but I NEVER see online EVER anymore.... second, how many hackers does it take to ruin a game? Just one, especially if he goes around completely unchecked. I've seen this happen alot. Not many people seem to do much of anything about the hackers... not even vote kick (which again, I've just about gave up on... I only vote if somebody else started it, at least then there's 'hope' of actually getting the guy off the server).....

The frequence of the hacker vs the average player could also sway how often they are a problem. Not to mention that if you think that 1225 people are all that are out there hacking, then how could there still be any hackers left? By that logic they are all caught already then.... no, my guess is it's probably more like 5,000 or so.... enouph to cause a problem once in a while. The problem is the less they are challenged to stop the hacking, the more people tend to do it... either more often, or more people.... I just see a small but steady increase of hackers.... if it continues the game will end up like counterstrike, where 25-30% (maybe more?) of the community HACKS.... and when it's that high, it's really lame.

Funny, I was in TS with the admin when he banned you and told him to download the BR file because when he told me the name of who he banned I told him it would show up on these forums. Since you decided to bring it here I'll comment on it. First, you weren't kicking the crap out of my NfB guys. There were NfB guys on your team and some on my team. Second, your team was being beaten and the only flag you held at the time was Crossroads and you were about to be pushed off the map and capped out at the time you were banned. Yes, you would probably have gotten the gold if I remember the scores right, but your team lost the round.
If you note the server load page it only says three things, double spaced to make it easy to read. (We try to keep it simple for people)

It looks like you decided to come into the uncap, I'm guessing to steal the walker which is legitimate. However, while you were there, you decided to take out the guy in the APC that was leaving with the rorsch. He hadn't seen you, in fact, when he got in the APC you went prone behind the rorsch, still cloaked, and as he was driving away you got in the rorsch nad started shooting at him. You could have easily let it go as the player in the APC didn't know you were there and then take the walker when it respawned, but you chose not to. Using the rorsch in the uncap to kill will get you banned pretty quick on any of our servers.


We don't ban anyone just because they are "good" as the way we get better is by playing against people that are better than us. So, it's counter-productive to ban good players. If you look at the server stats, there are some really good players, dare I say many that are much better than you, that spend a lot of time on our servers.

Now, if you want the ban lifted you are more than welcome to visit our website, fill out a forum app, and post in the complaints forum. My guess is that the ban will be lifted as it looks like you were there to take the walker. However, this is something to handle on our forums, not these.

Oh, and one more thing, all your whining here on these forums and then you want to call me and my clan out as being immature? Please.

First of all, since when is it a normal thing for anyone to SIMPLY BAN somebody without warning somebody about a server rule they might not know of? There wasn't even a kick, or a warning, and in fact I wasn't even banned untill 5 minutes after I was in your uncap.... not to "camp" actually, but simply to steal the walker... WHICH BY THE WAY your team did to use many times in the games before. The guy in the APC did know I was there, he was there trying to stop me before hand, look at that match again.... he just wasnt sure exactly where I was after he respawned....

So why no warning? why not a kick first? why not even a SERVER MESSAGE explaining why I was banned? No it said I was banned for "teamkilling" LOL! I was never playing on your server intending to break any rules... and in fact many times even when they have "no uncap camping" listed, they don't have a problem with somebody going into the uncap to destroy assets or steal a vehicle, which is exactly ALL I WAS DOING. I did NOT hang around at all.... I killed a guy twice that spotted me, then got out.

Any way you look at it, it's not a very mature way of handling it. If somebody told me, "hey, we don't allow that here, stop it from now on or get banned" I would of certainly stopped it. Btw, you CANNOT stop somebody from simply going into an uncap..... it is against the ROE.... because then you'd be saying that they are not allowed to destroy command assets which are part of the game. I'm all for being against spawn camping... trust me, I hate it as well... but what I did would not be classified as camping.... simply killing somebody in the uncap once is NOT camping... hanging around to kill them as they spawn over and over, THAT is spawn camping.... and something I don't normally do (unless thier team had already done it to us, and refused to stop... an eye for an eye).

And the performance of my team has nothing to do with the performance of me.... I was doing rather well.... and was doing my best to try to secure a flag so they could not cap us out.... most of my team where not very experierenced players players at the time, and I needed a vehicle so I would stand a chance against the numbers I would have to face to even the odds.

So maybe you guys might unban me? Especially since I recieved NO WARNING or explaination whatsoever.... how is that mature? (maybe not you, but somebody from NfB)

Firstly if a server has a ban for baserape rule then there is no warning needed. Secondly Punbuster requires all sort of setting up which is haphazard otherwise you only see the real reason scroll by quickly as an in game message then when you leave you get the tk message. Not Skates or his servers fault.

Personally sounds to me like you got a ban which may or may not have been justified. however as an admin I would elave the ban because you obviously are trying to muck stir.

Some servers don't like disruptive players. This is obviously an attempt to discredit or disrupt the server, its admins and goodwill.

Well, I have played that server a number of times and it is very prominently displayed that "Uncap raping = Ban"... I don't know how they can be clearer than that. I saw this each time I loaded a =NfB= server.

The message saying you were banned for TK is just the genceric message from Punkbuster that shows up after you are kicked/banned. If you saw the screen in game you would have seen:

(And the time stamp is not your local time, it is set by the server. If I remember it was around midnight or so.)
As for the time frame, it was not 5 minutes. I was in the server, I also watched the BR file. After you killed him in the APC, you went over and went prone near where the walker spawns. He spawned back in, 15 seconds after you killed him, the walker spawned, you got in the walker and killed him, you were banned. That wasn't more than 30 seconds.

Anyway, if we are so bad at running a server why would you want back in it? We must be doing something right as our Camp G server has made it into the top 100, which is pretty good for a 32 man server since it is ranked by average player count.

About the 1225 players banned against the player database. Your argument is unfounded. That ban list started from day one. It is relative to the people that have played it since then and not just playing now. Yes your buddy list may seem quiet now (assuming they are not the ones been banned of course). But the fact that there are 1225 been banned shows there are hackers. It is impossible to tell who is but at the end of the day I still get killed by better players than me more often than I get killed by glitchers or hackers.

In fact the frequency of bans is descreasing as the hacks get more complicated and sophisticated.

Well, as far as we are concerned on our servers, if you go into the uncap it needs to be to destroy assets and/or steal a vehicle and get out. It doesn't matter if it is one player or 16, if you hang around in the uncap killing the other team you are going to be banned. If you jump in a vehicle and decide to get a few kills before leaving you're pushing your luck. Some may not agree with that, but our servers do fairly well so it seems to be working. Unless I missed one, there are seven 32 man servers in the top 100 on Game-Monitor for BF2142, the rest are all larger servers as it ranks them by the average player count, and our 24/7 Camp G is one of them. I see your argument about one person, but does the team draw straws to decide who gets to go down into the uncap when your team holds all the flags? One person goes into the uncap, then two, and pretty soon half the team decides to join them.

If you don't agree with that, fine, just don't play on our servers. There are a few thousand other ones to choose from. If you do decide to visit our servers, please abide by our rules.
