^^I agree here. And I say this as an avid Titan gunner to boot! (At least before most servers decided to ban titan movement which completely defeats the point of having titan guns instead of artillary...)

If a titan gun is destroyed, it will take all of but 2 seconds to make it operational again. That isn't right and it isn't balanced. My suggested solution is to, at the very least, makes it so guns and equipment don't function at 100% until they actually ARE at 100%. If a titan gun is destroyed and it's only repaired to about 10 or 15%, make it so it fires only 2 or 3 shots per volly instead of a dozen+. If titan AA guns are only repaired to 10% or so, the rate of fire should be drastically reduced. That way, destroying Titian assets will actally give your team a certian window of freedom. However, I must say, it would also piss me off greatly.

Barring that, perhaps introducing a 1 minute prohibition on repairing destroyed assets after they go bye-bye would work. I would almost prefer that because then it will also cut down on AA spammers who camp at ground turrets to repeatedly blow up recently repaired (and very weak) guns for easy points.

I thought they are reduced based on the level of health the guns have... at least they recycle slower if they're damaged. Or is it all in my head

On another note: How about we just make then unavailable (to use or be destroyed) until the shield for that titan is down? That should cut down on titan-gun-whoring and titan gun dominance but they'd still be effective for preventing the enemies from boarding the titan.

Lets also make it so they fire puffs of cotton candy at the enemy.

I'm sorry to say it, but I think it's all in your head. I've never noticed a change in recycling speeds based on health in this version, or any version, of 2142 so far.

Speaking from experience a squad of 2 engys and 1 supply can render the guns useless in no time and there is even a spot underneath the Titan where no gun can hit you.

Honestly the BF community sometimes annoys me with the constant whining and requests to nerf weapons. Its not like 1 team can pick the best weapons and gain a massive advantage. Both teams have access to all the weapons (presuming you have the unlocks) and both teams have access to Titan guns. Both teams can have a commander that can move the Titan (if allowed) so where is the problem? I've played some Titan rounds where 2 silos were neutral for most of the round due to both Titans defending/whoring them.

I say leave the guns as is, for me Titan mode is the best game type I've ever played so DICE please don't let the whiners ruin another game like they did with BF2. Adapt or disconnect, don't sit there crying how you keep getting owned by someone who is invincable.
Rubbish. Even with three people dedicating their entire games to destroying titan guns (which they get no points for after the first 8 guns, so it is not going to happen) a few engineers on the titan could keep the guns going indefinitely, and since the little wuss sitting on the gun can preaim the gun while it is destroyed and fire the second it is repaired before it can be destroyed again the engineers will not last. And again, they get no points after the first 8 guns, so this is an unrealistic hypothetical situation anyway.

I'll tell you the sad reality of the situation. It's Suez Canal, commander moves the Titan to the middle of the map. Titan covers all silos. Four wusses sit on the guns the whole game and 2-3 engineers fight over the chance to repair the guns the second they are destroyed, cheering the enemy on to keep destroying them (yes, I have seen this). Meanwhile death rains down onto the silos the entire game and there is nothing someone on the ground can do. It sucks all the fun out of the game, being there on the ground knowing that the guns will never stop firing and there is absolutely nothing you can do to counter them or even strike back at the gunner. It's something in the game that desperately needs to be changed.

There are a number of factors which all contribute to this situation, if even a few of them could be changed it would be a great help:

-An engineer gets points for repairing a manned gun all game, while someone only gets points for destroying 8 guns and then nothing. Maybe a limit on the number of repair points from titan guns?
-The guns can refire as soon as they are repaired i.e. one HP. As suggested 50 would be better.
-The guns can be aimed while destroyed. The view going to static would be good.
-Four guns with 360 degree (or very near 360 degree) coverage. There's no escape aside from getting out of range, which can be very difficult to impossible depending on the map.

              Bad map design.

              Try again.

Boy I have to pay more attention to the game since all this time I've been trying to restore them to full health because I thought they would be slower:wall:

Is this the same with commander assets? Meaning that they recycle at the same speed no matter how much health they have as long as they're minimally repaired?

I rarely even find a server where people are using the titan guns effectively enough to control maps or kill me repeatedly. Using them effectively requires team work and patience: 2 things which are also hard to find on most servers.

I’ve never had trouble destroying titan guns when I set my mind to it. I didn't even know that so many people found the guns unbalanced until this thread. The guns are just part of the game and you should avoid being under them when they are manned. Just like you should avoid being in front of an enemy tank or walker. If you find yourself being killed by them go somewhere else on the map and be more effective there. That’s the wonderful thing about Battlefield; there's lots of stuff to do. Those who are inflexible in their game play are the ones who scream the loudest about those "noobish" things like spamming, rdx throwing, or whoring weapons.

I recently started using the recon kit with RDX and APM and I can't believe how cheap that kit is. It’s a license to print experiance points. With in the first day or so of using the rdx I was racking up 30 kills a game, and I wasn't exerting any skill other then patience. It is very effective though and it can be countered. so can the titan guns.

Ah now I see. You are a heavy assault player, who plays Conquest maps 3x as much as Titan, with the typical Voss/Defib/Rockets. With an abysmal time as engineer and favorite vehicle being a walker, this thread no longer surprises me.

Ironically you have a total of 34 hours in Titan guns.
                  pwned.

One of my friends had a mission to knife the top 100, and in order to do that he had to get some titan gun noobs. Anyway, he had an EXTREMELY creative way to get them out of the guns and onto the ground... He had a buddy place RDX all around the titan guns, and then go off and commit suicide. Then, my friend would grab the dude's pack and detonate the RDX, clearing out the guns. 3-4 times of that, and they started playing like real players do :p

If your Commander has allowed the enemy Titan to move into a position where it can suppress more than two silos, then you deserve to lose the round. Simple as that.

creative-yes...but how is that not cheating and just being a complete *** to someone who is playing the game how they want within the rules?

Its not new, and since it is used to circumvent game mechanics I would call it an exploit.
Done by the same kind of people that will grab the walker and go on a TK spree.

Make it so that it takes 15-20 seconds of repair just to get the gun back to operational or that they have to be fully repaired to be used again. That would give a good bit of time from the gun being destroyed till it's operational again at least. With the ADD of kids these days, they would lose interest in having to sit for so long repairing and go outside and get their hands dirty hopefully.

when a titan gun is destroyed you have to wait a minute or two and it will pop back up like a rorsch or the bf2 essex

i already said it once this thread but you guys keep comming up with ideas that would be hard to implement or wouldnt fix the problem entirely.
