    Bunch of damn commies.

I like getting paid for my work and not giving it away for free, I bet you guys too, unless it's to your advantage to get something for free from someone else at a loss to them.

You don't deserve a damn thing from DICE. They making the freaking game, they get to do whatever you want with it. They aren't bloody well required to make the game for you; you aren't entitled to another BF3 game. If they don't choose to make mod tools which are of no advantage, and perhaps a disadvantage to them, that's their choice and you can whine about it all they want, but they're not going to throw away good money on account of the thoughts of a small minority of modders.

I would be happy if they even just released a map editor... I mean mods were awesome. Although I never really could get into them.

Yeah. There have been a handful of community maps in various games that I actually enjoyed. I've never found a mod that I really liked. I still don't understand why so many people like them so much. Every mod I've played has felt rough around the edges and amateurish. (But I haven't played any of the legendary mods for the legendary game of all time that we know as BF2, so who knows.)

I buy a game for the content developed by the developer, but that's just me and maybe I'm the odd one here and everyone else buys a game primarily for community made mods.

I played a decent amount of FH2 and even some PR... I always joined a league, and then just never got around to playing in it. I would assume my enjoyment level would have increased somewhat.

On the subject of gameplay in those mods however it was very well done. I also played the crap out of DC in 1942 when I was younger, and that was very well done as well.

Yeah! Who needs community contributions anyway! Down with modding! Down with creativity! Don't release the mods tools, you don't have to!...

You're all killing PC gaming and you don't even realize it.

Ugh..... Mod tools are in the plan for this game. Just not at launch and not anytime soon after. They will also most likely be very light on features considering anything more would require an entire engine rewrite.

I think this is a big reason too. FB2 is new tech and they don't want it to be easily stolen by others by releasing what tools they're using - they would have to recode whatever they're using to distribute it freely with the game. It was mentioned in that gameinformer article too that they would need a lot of effort to "dumb down" their software and I suspect this is roughly what they meant.

Mods tools are in a "perhaps" state, just like BC2 at the beginning. But I personnaly think they will never release them, EA/Dice want to sell their DLCs and control the span of life of their games. Maybe a map editor or soemthing very restrictive.

So what are you going to do to save PC gaming, oh might one? Whine on a little gaming forum more? DICE has already stated what they're going to do.

edit: I'm not saying it's better to not have mod tools, than to have them. I'm just saying it's not the end of the world to me or most people who enjoy the game at face value, and we aren't doing anything to change DICE's mind here.

Anyone even remember when custom maps and mods were one of the biggest reasons to game on a PC rather than on a console? Well, it's the dev's game, they can do what they want so they take that away. What's the next best thing...

With that type of attitude, over time, PC will just get console ports. Just like now, games for PC are being sold for $60, because everyone just allowed it. Which was another reason to game on a PC rather than on a console, the games were 10 bucks cheaper.

You avoided my question. What's your solution? Bitching about it is going to get you nowhere.

It's supply and demand that dictates market prices. It's always been the developer's game. They just made games that appealed more to you before. Not everyone has the same view as you do. A lot of people liked BC2 even though you couldn't whore the choppers and dolphin dive.

Re: Mod tools not looking so good.

Dice just built a multi million dollar engine and some people just want the hood popped for free..... Its not going to happen. Dice has stated the engine will remain a dice exclusive and that it will not see licensing or use by anyone else which means it still a very very young engine. Taking some grief from less than 1% of the already tiny PC market is more than worth it to protect the secrets and technology behind their engine and Destruction 3.0.

At best you should expect a Map maker.
