They're going to be adding an insta-prone accuracy penalty

Thank God! Reading point 3 was extremely refreshing. I have long argued on other forums that the problem with the current setup is that Medic is taking the role of Assault, with the ability to heal/revive added on. I'm glad to see someone else feels that something needs to happen, all those flame attacks are worth it now.
Oh trust me, there are quite a few folks who share that opinion. I, for one, completely agree with the sentiment.
Re: They're going to be adding an insta-prone accuracy penalty
I'm guessing it's the reason DICE decided to merge Assault and Medic classes in 2142. Only a few hardheaded individuals such as myself still went assault in the medic-dominated ground combat of BF2, and I usually went with the G3 (because I <3 the G3) so the n00bt00b wasn't even a factor in my decision. It was bad enough having medics running about with AKs, but to give them a G36E with which to administer the coup de grace to the Assault class was just facepalm-worthy.
Re: They're going to be adding an insta-prone accuracy penalty
I'm reserving my opinion until I play it. I've never taken issue with proners. Toss a few nades into their predicted prone path, right before you make yourself known to them. They'll dive into your nades to engage you. Your combined bullets and nades usually overcomes them.
Even though I haven't taken part in the beta, I suspect this isn't going to be a problem for the support class storming around corners in CQC. Crouch and spraying with the LMG works acceptably on occasion.
I agree that more should've been done to differentiate between Assault and Medic, but oh well there is BF3 to look forward to.
A practical way to improve Assault, would be to increase the smoke grenade effectiveness. Either increase the smoke duration and thickness or increase smoke grenades to 4 or 5.
Re: They're going to be adding an insta-prone accuracy penalty
N00B tube + proners = death.
I love the assault kit and its what i play most of the time. make the smoke grenade more effective and have 3 of them. Give the medic class smoke instead of frag grenades that would tune them down a little as well.
Medic have m4 and ak carbine the SF have silenced m4 and AK and tune the G36E down to 600 rpm like all the rest of the g36 series

I've always wondered why DICE only put 1 smoke grenade. Not 2, but ONE. Once you use it, one of the key uses of Assault is gone. Yet F2000 still gets 5 flashbangs.

This is an excellent idea.

Re: They're going to be adding an insta-prone accuracy penalty
Switch the weapon sets for engineer and medic. Problem solved. :)
I always thought that a SMG or shotgun would be more appropriate for the medic, not the same gun as assault. Give assault 2 smoke grenades and maybe add a suppressor for the SF carbines like dfour said.
Re: They're going to be adding an insta-prone accuracy penalty
What's BF 3? Is there even such a thing. With all the sequels, and with the elimination of the SL's role in 1943, is there even hope for a decent game such as a bf 3??
Re: They're going to be adding an insta-prone accuracy penalty
Problem with custom loadouts is that there will be one optimised kit everyone will use.
By using standardised layouts, it maintains balance and enables developers to give each kit their USP which will make their use more widely spread (relatively).

I like how BF:V did it, where each of the four kits had two different loadouts, so while not completely customisable it gave the feeling of customisation and variety without allowing overpowered combos (Voss/PK/defib, etc.). Then again, BF:V started out with a low-deviation, low-recoil M60 that came with the LAW kit, so we'd have to hope that the person in charge of quality control at DICE isn't asleep at the wheel again.
Imagine if in BF2142 you'd have to choose between the medic loadout (Voss/Defib/Nadar) or the Assault loadout (Baur, Herzog, PK rockets) or if you wanted the Pilum you'd have to forgo motion mines. Now that I think about it, that may have been the way DICE should have gone all along...

They could probably do this easily using the BF2 unlock system with no .exe changes; as the assault kit shows, switching to a different unlock kit can change more than one weapon. e.g. you could make one of the AT unlocks switch you from an Eryx/SRAW to an RPG or LAW (or an AA missile and/or add AT mines like PoE2's AT). An engineer unlock could switch their grenades for C4. A specops or assault unlock could switch grenades for claymores. (Obviously they would need some rebalancing, possibly reduced quantities.)
Re: They're going to be adding an insta-prone accuracy penalty
This the reason I HATED BF2.
BF 2142 got the whole infantry combat spot on with the insta-prone penalty.
Playing 2142 you could immediately tell a BF2 migrant because they belly flopped as soon as look at you. You would simply have to crouch and pop 2 bursts in their face.
A lot of people are going to be vexed by this God send of a fix! And I cannot stress the word 'fix' enough.

Remember the BF2142 demo and the first few days of that game when almost EVERYONE did it? It was hilarious and led to a lot of easy kills for the people who already learned not to do that. I'm guessing the first few days after the 1.5 patch release will be much the same level of hilarity.
