i'm not really sure what you guys are referring to when you say "noob tube" but i assume it's the grenade launchers you can attach to certain guns. i really don't see what the problem is with them. and yes i have been killed by them quite a few times. i think it's cheap when you get killed by one at 2 feet, but for anyone who's served in the armed forces, you would know that, yes, one could (especially hit in the chest) could kill you. but it does take some skill to use them from a distance. and as far as the martyrdom grenade dropping perk, if you hear one drop after you kill a guy, sprint away. but that's just my opinion. i don't like it either and i don't use it anymore. and usually noobs use it. i know i did when i first got it. but there's always ways to counter other perks. use extra health and maybe you won't die from noob toobs or grenades, not sure. but hope everyone has fun with the game.

It's interesting that I keep saying the same thing over and over again: It's in the game. The game has been tested extensively. There is no reason to remove it. If you don't like it, don't play or limit your play so your not frustrated by this. I've NEVER been killed by Martyrdom on Overgrown, perhaps that should be your map of choice.

If I'm a n00b, fine. I have no problem with labels, as it is stupid to apply such labels to beings who undergo constant changes in attitude, thought and behavior as we humans do. But, this is something experience teaches you, not someone like myself in a forum somewhere.

I may be a n00b today, but I'll kick your @55 on a MP server any day because I play the game to the fullest extent possible and I don't whine because a game doesn't meet my internal rules. I'll P90 you, M203 you, use Martyrdom, Last Stand, the Voss, a J-10 or whatever it takes to win (short of cheating/exploiting).

Why? Because it is a military combat game. That's the way military combat works. I can just imagine the forces coming home from Vietnam going, "No way, man... we're not doing that anymore because they don't fight fair." Or, in the modern day, "Those IEDs are so ruining the war for me. It's tough to find a good firefight anywhere because the enemy keep hiding and blowing up our vehicles..."

Not going to happen because we've got real men and women over there who realize that real war is ugly. Our pretend war in CoD4 is not supposed to be pretty, either.

If we come to an agreement NOT to do any thing which annoys others, I'm cool with that on a private server. But, on the pubs, I'm gaming to help my team win. If that means I decide Martyrdom is appropriate, I'll use it and you'll just have to deal with it or find a different place to play.

Some folks need to grab their cohones around here and act like men. :salute:

I'm done arguing the point that the game is fine and does not need a change in features. You guys can keep talking about it and wasting your time if you want, I'm going to do something productive and doesn't make me feel like I'm dealing with a bunch of immature spoiled brats who have to have things their way or not at all. That's how my 5 year old acts...

And, I would not call Martyrdom "skill-less" either. I've cooked a grenade and run into a building with 6-8 enemy in it. When the nade finished cooking, it killed me and four enemy. My Martyrdom nade killed the rest after I was dead.

That one act changed the course of that game. It forced the other team to respawn on the other side of the map and halted their defensive camping which was killing our side slowly.

i agree with 95% of this (being a soldier) you do what it takes to kill your enemy, no matter what, of course not hacking/glitching. but what the game provides, you use

Complaining, criticising, putting down ideas is what game forums are for and actually all the guys who say 'stop complaining' are crying and complaining too, and they don't even notice it.
I guess we are all whining punks if you wanna call it that.

Some really good mods, game changes and the like have their origin in forums like these and I'll be damned if after all these discussions there won't be a CoD4 mod without Martyrdom in the future.

Discussing and complaining are too different things.

Frequently, folks aren't discussing what to do about Martyrdom, but how much of a n00b folks are for using it. That's the talk that crosses the line for me.

There have been some good recommendations on how to adjust this perk so it wouldn't be such a problem for some folks. That's interesting. The other attacks on folk's character, experience or playing ability are not interesting at all.

I still say, the game plays fine the way it is. If you want to discuss mods, there's a sub-forum for that.

Theres no need to adjust the perk. Its perfectly fine. Its on the border where, if you nerf it, kills from this perk will be extremely rare, and the incentive to choose it over other perks becomes very small. And theres no way its going to be beefed up.

Again, complainers dont see the big picture. Vast majority of COD4 perks are useful. Martyrdom included. No need to make it into something thatll "kill once every 20 rounds" just because you feel its cheap. For a very long time, I have zero problems with COD4. I just cant find any flaws in it. I havent even seen any bugs! I do hate the server browser though.

Back to the subject. You nerf it, you kill its usefulness. Youre basically striving towards creating a perk system, where everyone runs around with a "base" setup of "accepted perks". That kills diversity. Thanks, but I pray to the Lord allmighty, that IW will not listen to the vocal minority.

There's a bigger picture that you don't see. You are not the only one with an opinion. You may find the game perfect, but others don't and you should accept that without questioning their intentions.

It could be worse, the grenade could go off instantly when you kill them. Imagine knifing someone and instantly getting blown to pieces. Even better, a whole server of people with this modded version of Martyrdom. It would be like popping balloons with explosions everywhere every time someone died.

I've read most of this thread and I have to say you've covered every angle twice already. Whiskey already summarized the best of any possible tweaks to the perk. Best to :locked: this and move on. Agree to disagree.

I was on a server last night that was threatening kicks for those who use it as the admin didnt like it. If you run a server and you dont like martyrdom disable it in the server config im sure alot of people who equally dont like it will join and everyone will be happy. Though you will be unranked, cant have things both ways.

Martyrdom is a situational tool not a noob perk, I like alot of others use it on very close combat kits bit longer range kits use other perks its a what fits best at the time thing. If we start killing off things like martyrdom, grenade launchers and rocket launchers and recently ive seen in this forum a call to remove grenades lol you will lose diversity in the game as stated previously in this thread. Last thing we want is a battlefield 2/2142 style game where your always killed by a g36 or voss. If you enjoy that gameplay so much go back to playing that dont f*ck a perfectly good game as it is.

There is no real need for this topic to be locked, lets just keep it fresh on topic.

IMO, martydom should be changed the the idea, if you have used your grenade, then you cant use martydom, this is the most likely fix we will see, if any.

Great discussion guys and some very mature attitude.

My original comments at the start of the thread were a fun improvement that would require perhaps more skill to use.

However the suggestion to limit it too only can be used if you have a nade is a good un. Like most perks you are trading one thing against another... this is the thing I think IW got absolutelly spot on and would to me be a welcome improvement without nerfing.

I have to admit, that I have had my fair share and a few player others of killed by Martyrdom, as when I'm playing CQB's with my CQCombat or sneaky kit, I am on Gung Ho mode.... that means holding back is not an option and I enjoy being on the 100% offensive at times with it.

As an earlier post mentioned about running into a crowd of peeps with a cooked nade... I like doing this on occasion, and too me, that is what Martyrdom is about... an even playing field where they have the oppurtunity to shoot me before I get close, and I with a bit of skill have the ability to get an earned kill. An added perk option to me if I dont decide to go frag throwing crazy, and hold back for an out of ammo, or 'oh jesus, I'm surrounded by close in enemy' situ.

If the opinion is based on emotions, it doesnt hold any weight and as such, can be discarded.

Sorry, my opinion isnt based on a grief of getting "killed by a lame weapon". Thats your "thang". But you probably just cant accept the simple fact that every time you die to Martydom, is because of your own fault.

Its the pleasure of the arrogant and the ignorant. Have fun.
