So... What should I consider as a feeling of success in BF2? Isn't it why we have stats so we can see our progress(meaning progression).
Hmm...success in my mind is being able to do what ever you are trying to do with success. Defending some flag against enemies, spotting enemies while they are leaving main base, transporting troops with Blackhawk from flag to another without being shot down too often. Just to mention few not so popular tasks and not giving those awards but for sure helping your team to win.

There are really easy ways to strugle to the top of the list if that's what u want. I like to maintain the illusion of battle by playing not for the points for the feeling. I got more than enough points and awards so I don't need them any more (I have played many hours). I don't regret any hour spent for the game I've had really fun with BF2 and I still have.

Stats are part of the fun for me, allthough I would not play for stats only.
I like the kick I get when attempting to get like 44 kills in a round and am at 40 kills with only 10 tickest left.
The only reason I'm still playing BF2 is my clan and the stats. I have still so much do in BF2 that I don't see a reason to leave it.
I still check my stats every day and there is nothing wrong with it.
      AND:
even PR got stats - so stats are approved by the master of BF2 mods, hahaha ;-) couldn't resist

PR has stats? only on certain servers, i think you misunderstand what im saying, nothing wrong with stats, good additon to the game, i just think if its all you concentrate on then your cheating yourself & your team. I was into it once, found i wasnt having fun, worry'n about my k/d ratio, and i died alot from being spawn raped & it got so frustrating i almost quit bf2, then i just said heck with it, not gonna be on my resume anyway. :)

          @JustMe0171: Nono. I didn't misunderstood you.
Actually I wasn't even replying to any post. Just posting my opinion.

Oh, one addition to this conversation. Don't get me wrong. As I said I don't play for the stats, but I also consider them being a nice addition for the game. If someone is playing just for the stats, that's ok as well. Not my business at all. I'm just trying to widen the scope of fun for someone concentrating only on the numbers.

yeah your right, nothing wrong with them living for the stats, only down side to it is a team effort to win the game. i seen far too many people wouldnt budge from there honey hole for spawn raping for 5 minutes to take the flag so we could win, thats IMO why so many rambo's in vanilla nobody or few anyway want to actually win the round.:salute:

Thanks for the 3 star general reply. I don't blame you, you're almost to the end... It's normal to feel that way after all the people you killed and used to get kills all the way to the top. The horrors you've seen and the battles you've been in.
But I'm still a young buck with the need for adredaline and rush, maybe someday when I become a 4 star general I'll take a long look back and wonder what I have done and settle down for fun. I salute you Mr 3star Ace

Great original post - more of a manifesto!

NOW - wouldn't it toadally roque if we like minded peeps got together on a map. Wreckage!

My own twist on 'the virtue of selfishness' is ... I do get a kick from teamwork. Playing with caps in mind, hittin the G, or hangin back from the nadefest when squad leader are 'a filigree of delight along my conspiratorial dagger'.

                  Viddy well, my brothers.

Even if he was on his laptop, the IP would be the same as it comes through the same router. And, even if he used a different account, it would usually link back to his others.
