    Re: Hacking Sites under Investigation

If i may add, anyone can edit the game files. They are just editing the game files more to the limits. This is how MODS are born, editing files...

Technically it breaks the crappy EULA which states no reverse engineering and what not, and we're talking about unpacking, disassembling and debugging the executables themselves, not the .con & .tweak files which are for modders in any case.

yeah i didn't mean it to be, but i deal with stuff like this for a living eula's, group/site license laws, copyright, unauthorized access and the laws surrounding them all the way from agency laws to the patriot act and other public statutes etc...

i'm not going to try and sweet talk anyone on here, i'm just putting out what's going to happen so mr. mitch doesn't get his hopes all up, just to be crushed because he appearently doesn't have any knowledge in the field.

they don't technically "edit" the game files, and they also do not redistribute any copyrighted materials. and even if they did "edit" the game files, that would be a violation of the EULA and that is not a criminal act.

Fair play for trying, but just a waste of time and money imo.

I think it will be interesting to see where this goes and I applaud mitch for taking the time to persue this. Good luck and thanks for posting.

Out of interest, could you give a brief outline of the case, in terms of which federal/international laws have potentially been contravened in the manufacture and sale of the hacks, other than the tax/fraud angle?

                Re: Hacking Sites under Investigation

Tom, excellant job so far. Thank you very much for taking the time to crack down on those damn hacking sites and hopefully put them away. Don't listen to the haters out there, its either because they are hackers themselves and want to continue the joys of destroying other's leisurely time playing a game just to have some fun, or they are just sorry f*cks in real life that live to bring people down on the internet while sitting on there asses eating an industrial size bag of saturated fat and potatoe chips hoping one day they get enough money from their shi*tty jobs to buy a pair of 9800GTX's when they come out (forget the shampoo, clothes, and other bear essentials, thats not relevant to **** *** couch potatoe), and try to own at Crysis because they have nothing else in there worthless lives to look forward too. That being said, continue you pursuit man, nothing is stopping you from shutting down those hacking websites, I don't give a worthless f*cking sh*t what anyone else says about it not being possible, just do your thing, thats whats most important here.

                Good Luck!

                  Re: Hacking Sites under Investigation

Let's think about this now, shall we? I know what I'm talking about. Yes, I'm a cheater. Ok, time for what I was going to say:

                  1) Most of the hacks on the site I'm a member of DO NOT edit the game's files in ANY way! The one that does isn't used much and simply changes your clan tag depending on what day it is. It's not even a hack.

                  2) You think they forgot about paying taxes? I know the admin well and he has made sure it's all legal.

                  3) Someone mentioned that cheating at casinos etc. is illegal. Well let's look at this. At casinos, you get cold hard cash for cheating (otherwise there's no point). How much do you get for cheating in games? Hmm... let's see... $0.

You may commence arguing with correct facts now.

People's right to happiness?People arent exactly happy when someone ruins their free time.

Also you could argue that just having anti cheat resources is a loss for the company and may be entitled to reimbursement.

People have the right to the "pursuit of happiness". Who said it's a right to happiness? Stop rewriting the Constitution just for a bunch of online game "hackers".

                          Re: Hacking Sites under Investigation

the game companies pay these hacking sites under the table to make them guys... if you haven't figured this out yet then I don't know what to tell you.

Lets say you get one..you use one and get banned by PB which is also paid by the game companies. Well then you have to go out and buy a whole new game and thus more money in the pockets of the game makers.

You can't stop it otherwise the makers wouldn't have allowed the coding to do so and took more time to make the games.

So, Mitch posts this and the cheaters come out of the shadows?

Pathetic, using a 3rd party application to make you "better." If you are doing good in a game, you are having fun; therefore you have to cheat to have fun. So you can't stand a challenge on even terms? Then you go off to brag about your cheats not being detected by a half-*** anti-cheat.

I understand wanting to have fun but, if you suck so much as to having to resort to downloading or making cheats, maybe you should find a new hobby.

I don't actually cheat myself. In case you haven't looked it up, I'm co-admin and I do the webmaster stuff, managing keys and hack updates, but not actually playing with the hacks. I mean, really, I'm playing on a stock Dell video card.
