Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?

Since when do we put redlining and soloing under the same definition?
ORIGINAL POST: Me and Chris_Redfield are having a little (only like 10 pages long) discussion here and i would like to clear up a thing. Is a typical soloer a teamplayer?

For those who dont know, a soloer is a person who is flying a chopter without a gunner and is often Tking or redlining ppl in order to do so.
Chris is claiming that a soloer is killing tanks and chopters coz hes such a teamplayer and is trying to help his team, but i disargee and say that a soloer kills ppl coz its fun or to improve his kill-death ratio.
I'm just using THIS definition of a soloer. My discussion is based on the OP. Yours is based on somethin else. We are NOT talking about you, we are talking about soloers in general.

Check any tank used nowadays. They have a mounted 12.7mm machine gun specializing for anti air. Also, tanks in real world can attack low flying aircraft such as helicopters. While BF2 is far from real life, all you need is skill, and youre a formidable anti helicopter railcannon on tracks.
So now you come with real life but you go switching seats in a flying chopper?
Who's the one to get real?

No, you just single out soloers, put them into the same basket and ignore that every vehicle in BF2 has a potential to be used in a way that it would not benefit your views as a teamplayer. Get real.
No,I don't ignore that, but I try to keep on topic. We're talking about soloers in choppers, right?

You need to ask yourself, what does that unqualified and lacking soldier doing on the deck in the first place. As said, attack chopper is not your taxi ride.
And again: please read. No it is not a taxi, I never said that. If you go on basing your discussion fighting argument none ever used your lost.
So what does a soldier doing on a deck? Complaining about the guy who didn't want a gunner and asking himself where all this teamplay has gone everybody is always talking about.

ABOUT TEAMKILLING FOR VEHICLES/REDLINING: And Id rather have one ticket spent in exchange of dozens tickets spent on enemy side, than one ticket spared, then 2 tickets wasted and none of the enemy tickets taken. Thats exactly what happens if theres any opposition on enemies side. Also, wheres teamwork in hindering your pilots work in helping his team? Eh?
I'm glad this is just a game. In RL I don't want you on my side...

But youre not giving out opinions, youre throwing around blatant claims that you cant back up. Youre giving out your opinion as a fact and if you do look for arguments to back your claim up its usually a crudely generalised, subjective opinion (again) that comes from inexperience. Like you put redliners and soloers into one group.
LOL, how could I ever have another opinion than you, shame on me. You do the same, and you started. So if yours is the one and only truth, then why do we have 10 pages of discussion? I guess everybody else is wrong. Again: My opinion was demanded and MY OPINION CAN JUST BE SUBJECTIVE BECAUSE IT'S ALL MINE. It is not generalised if you read carefully (but I doubt you ever will becasue this would mean you would have to cut down and discuss on a higher level), I used the definition created in the OP. So if the OP used a generalisation I had to do so too.
If you would read carefully you would see that I write sentences like "I think that..." or "I guess that...". I don't think that makes me "putting my opinion as a fact". Just for you to explain how it would sound if I did:

        Soloers are not teamplayers!
        Soloers are teamkillers!

This is how someone expresses a fact!
        Got it?

no, only 1 side can win and thats the soloing side.

Negative, the definition of "soloer" here is the guy who mans the helicopter by himself and execute both gunner and pilot functions. Redlining and/or teamkilling are NOT involved. What was posted by the OP was retarded.

So now you come with real life but you go switching seats in a flying chopper?
Who's the one to get real?

You want to use the RL argument now? Wow, how pathetic. In real life both the pilot and copilot have access to all the helicopter's controls in case one is unable to fight. Meaning, in real life a guy can "solo" the heli without bothering to switch seats. Case closed.

And again: please read. No it is not a taxi, I never said that. If you go on basing your discussion fighting argument none ever used your lost.

Point is, he shouldn't on the deck in the first place.

I'm glad this is just a game. In RL I don't want you on my side...

Yes, it's just a game, where your goal is to have fun. Dumb noobs as partners spoils your (at least mine) fun. In RL pilots undergo hundreds of hours of training so they won't crash the helicopter on the first tree or building. Please don't use RL argument, you will always lose.

LOL, how could I ever have another opinion than you, shame on me. You do the same, and you started. So if yours is the one and only truth, then why do we have 10 pages of discussion? Our opinion comes from experience, yours from inexperience.

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?

I don't understand why people associate redlining with solo'ing.

I've only been redlined and M95'ed by arsehats who wanted their friend in the gunner seat. Solo'ers server hop, play less populated servers, maps with extra helicopters (dalian/daqing) or steal enemy choppers.

Solo'ing is useful. It's not detrimental to the team in the least. Instead it only hurts the feelings of the pissy privates who can't fly or gun, camping the helipad, screaming in chat, "WHY WON'T YOU PICK ME UP!?" Elfipso, you've probably never bothered to leave your clan's private server for a helicopter match to ever deal with this sort of thing on a regular basis. Duo'ing is a majorly different story when you aren't constantly duo'ing with a friend or clanmate. Clanners rarely realize that the game is very different when you don't have the protective cocoon of your clan's warm bosom to keep you safe.

Anyhow... The best part about solo'ing, is you not only get to choose if you want a gunner or not, but you get to choose who your gunner is when you do decide to pick one up.

That means if I recognize somebody as a decent player in previous rounds, I will always pick them up if they want to gun for me.

If somebody has been busy capping flags for the past round or two, I will always pick them up if they want to give gunning a whirl.

In retrospect, if some Master Gunner randomly hops onto the server, beelining for the chopper that I've been solo'ing in for the past twenty minutes, spamming "I need a ride" only to ignore the TV missle completely when he does get the gunners seat. You're damn right I'm going to bail out of the chopper over the nearest enemy helicopter spawn. Teamwork is more than pointlessly dying alongside your co-pilot. So screw your myopic views about what teamwork is. Take some time to read through this thread and to check stats. Your only allies are newbies who haven't got more than 1 hour in the helicopter, while those arguing against you are all experienced veterans in helicopter warfare. Both as Duo's, and Solo'ers.

Are there multiple definitions then? In case youve mistaken, OP is a tool and acts against what hes preaching. A "soloer" is a chopper pilot who uses his gunners seat aswell. Everything else, if there is any, is up to the person.

So now you come with real life but you go switching seats in a flying chopper?

You were the one telling me that tanks shouldnt fight choppers. I just told you that tanks .50 cal MG and his barrel are used against choppers in RL as in the game. And in RL, as in the game, both the copilot and pilot have access to both functions in case one gets incapacitated or god forbid, killed. The seatswitching itsself in BF2 is made for the same purpose. If someone gets killed, it just happens that that little animation takes place when pilot accesses the secondary seat.

And again: please read. No it is not a taxi, I never said that. If you go on basing your discussion fighting argument none ever used your lost.

A soldier, with zero air experience, or experience insufficient to help his team from air, shouldnt be bitching on the carrier deck, he should grab the M16 infantry rifle and do some good on the ground, not do bad in the air.

It is not generalised if you read carefully (but I doubt you ever will becasue this would mean you would have to cut down and discuss on a higher level), I used the definition created in the OP. So if the OP used a generalisation I had to do so too.[/quote]

Youre siding with the OP, generalising and using blatantly wrong arguments. Again, if you think soloing and TKing/redlining go hand by hand, you are being subjective and not objective and are basing your opinion on an emotion and not on facts.

                    Soloers are not teamplayers!
                    Soloers are teamkillers!
Are you using simple sentences to tell me youre not generalising? You said it yourself, you agree with the OP.

Someone expresses his opinion as a fact when he states it, doesnt back it up and fights for it nevertheless.

And you can still, because we can read and always try and try and try to have a decent discussion without being a jerk. Tjis includes reading posts well and understand them. And come on, you won't generalize, becasue you have an argument with just one =SoBF= member

Are there multiple definitions then? In case youve mistaken, OP is a tool and acts against what hes preaching. A "soloer" is a chopper pilot who uses his gunners seat aswell. Everything else, if there is any, is up to the person.
No there is only one. I actually know what a soloer is. And I'm smart enough to know that there are some that tk and redline and that there some that won't.
The OP gave one definition to discuss upon. If we are talking about soloers that tk, well then you know my point of view. If we talk about soloers that do not tk, well then let them solo. No problem with that.

You were the one telling me that tanks shouldnt fight choppers. I just told you that tanks .50 cal MG and his barrel are used against choppers in RL as in the game. Well, actually I was wondering if tanks are supposed to fight choppers (read).
So they may in RL but they are not that effective in BF2. As we no BF2 and RL is not the same. Seat switching and taking over controls in a chopper in RL is difficult to compare, because I think that the whole thing would look different. In RL the pilot gets shot, the gunner takes over the flight controls and will with high probabiulity fly back into a safe area. Soloers switch back and forth to play both parts - not RL-like. But we know BF2 is not RL.
It might be the same purpose, but it is not practiced like that becasue BF2 is not RL.

This was an example to show you (because you never read well) an example how I would express a fact. Another example:

                          1. How to express a fact: "The Earth is a ball!"
                          2. How to express an opinion (or at least not a fact): "I think the Earth is flat!"
I use version 2, while you think I'm using version 1. Feel free to re-read the posts.

So now that, hopefully, you understand (and Churrasco tambien) that the sentences "Soloers are not teamplayers! Soloers are teamkillers!" were just an example to make you really learn something, you will understand that I did never generalize in any way.
If you still think that way I suggest you quit playing computer games for a while and read a book instead. Maybe you get better at reading and understanding.

This is my last post in this thread as there is nothing more to say. My opinion was asked, I gave it. The typical aggressive replay by Chris started a stupid discussion. What more do we want

But, in your opinion, what is a teamplayer? For those who don't know…
I need to know this before answering your question.
A guy who is comunicating and cooperating with the rest of the team or atleast a group of ppl, and making consious(sp?) choises to help the team or that group of ppl. And no, just killing stuff doesnt make you a teamplayer

Do you think that we are the only ones who solo choppers? Do you think we make up the majority? Majority of chopper pilots, from my own experience within servers, do not TK nor redline. Majority of jet pilots dont use M95s to "eject" people off "their jets" like you do. We are just participating in this thread, by telling that we represent the majority, you are conventiently forgetting a lot of people to support your claim.

Also you claim that i TK ppl on Wake and yet you dont have a single proof of that. Your not just pulling stuff out of your *** again? Like you did with my KDR ratio, you claimed that it was 0.4 something while its 1.4 something. Then you claimed that the 0.4 KDR was my assault rifle KDR wich is also total bollocks. And you also accused me of lying and fabricating stuff didnt you? :shakehead:
ROFLMAO! Go check it again. I said you had a sub 1:1 KDR in assault rifles.

Thats basically exactly what a soloer does. Thanks for proving the point.
