i actually got in a heli today with a m8 of mine(the one i practice with on lan)

      map was sharki..

and it was one of them memorable games,

soon as i got up we headed towards tv and my 1st shot takes out the chopper and guess what it was a solo'er :)

then the commander(brilliant by the way) was giving me orders to take tank out, chopper is at xx flag ect.

this really helped as i passed the info to my squad m8 who is flying.

3 ppl working together and the solo pilot get the next 3 tv in his face.

not trying to brag but he must of been good as he took out the our armor with the solo tv alot.

but when the commander is giving me a heads up i was able to sneak up with the help of my good pilot friend and take him out.

now im no expert in the gunner seat but managed 40-2 in that round.

sure a really good solo may of given me a harder time, but imo when 3 players work together (like it was intended)

its fun and helps you team win.

after the 3rd kill on the solo chopper he then picks up a gunner lol.

so even us noob's can still make a difference if given the chance.

thats only because its was sharqi, a small fog invested nightmare for a soloer imo, although Ive done it and was succesful many many time that map has the potential to be a nightmare for an "average" soloer

put that same soloer on Wake, Kubra, Fushee, Oman, Daqing, Dalian........and you may have gone 2-40 instead

maybe be so,but the point im trying to make is,i haven't been in a chopper in a long time, due to the normal asshatry.

but today i gave it a try,and the teamwork involved gives a big advantage,

so 2 unregular players can be a hindrance to a solo pilot,ok sharki is obviously not a solo'ers favorite,

but im sure a better more active pilot and gunner could fair just the same on the maps u have mention.

never judge a book by it's cover so to speak, you may pick up alot of bad gunners on you travels but there are players on the server you don't know and could be just as effective to the team efforts.

40-50% of normal players in a server are below par on most skill's (thats both teams) but they all do there bit at the end of the day.

          thats online gaming for you.

I was just wondering what you guys see the role of the attack chopper as?

While is isn't as wide spread as with armour whores i have noticed a distinct lack of anti armour from heli's recently. The worst i've ever seen is still in armour on Karkand though. The Abrams and apc's parked camping hotel, while the T80 and apc's are parked two roads over camping the hill by the US spawn. For the whole round they never attacked each other. Both were happy just to rape infantry.

I haven't seen this trend MUCH with heli's but i have noticed recently armour seems a lower priority, especially to solo pilots, than unloading his hydra on the infantry.

When I solo, armor is my second priority. The first priority is the opposing attack chopper. Second priority is tanks and apcs. However, my team needs to spot the armor. Once it is spotted it is pretty much a guaranteed kill. Third, for me is infantry, or if a plane is bothering me I try to take it down with a tv.

                  Yup.

                  Priority should be

                  - Attack helis
                  * Keep a lookout for jets, avoid or engage them as necessary
                  - Tanks, APCs
                  * Keep a lookout for linebackers, prioritize them when identified
                  - The remaining garbage: transport helis, transport vehicles and infantry

ive done that before, 2 empty choppers and this nub got in mine again but he was useless so i got out and went in the other one and he followed me :hmm: so i got outta that one and back in the other one and cos the engine had already been started i took off before he managed to get in it :yay:

please don't talk crap,i doubt the great sloi himself could get such a score.

ok maybe you could get 50-60 if you were gunning infantry, but to score 250 with tv missiles/hydra's only is a giant farce.(thats a bsr of 500)

my score was not to brag, just to show that it didn't hinder the team.

i did the job on the heli and the armor and we won the game, just to prove that a semi-skilled 2 man chopper team is still good.

That is true. But dont look at it as an excuse. Soloers, nay, nobody plays this game for someone elses fun. The point soloers are adressing is that when they are good at what they do, they do their job better than a duo of mediocrity. And since they are able to do their job unhindered, they help their team more. Thus making them better at teamwork in a large picture. Theres no excuses, just simple facts. Most soloers also leave the infantry alone, leaving their team something to kill that is either at their, or lower level. Fun and efficiency.

And no, theres no way in hell that you can actually say that a soloer in a teamplayer. Yes he does help the team, but that doesnt make him a teamplayer.

I suggest you download PR, then you might actually discover what teamwork is. Coz in BF2 its almost non exsistant. How often do you see ppl communicating and cooperating in BF2? How often do you see a soloer or a sniper communicating with the rest of the team? If i listen to you then i would think that just killing ppl will make you a teamplayer. :shakehead:
Im sorry, my gaming portfolio holds more games than BF2 and its mods. Youve also just contradicted yourself. If someone helps their team, they are doing teamwork.
As for PR and teamwork, no thanks. Id rather play Smash and Grab in SWAT4TSS and get to see some real teamwork. VOIP is not teamwork. Choices are.

Oh and its nice that youre calling me an idiot. Youre the kid that goes to every thread where someone asks info about their joystick and tell them that its a waste of money. Which is probably because your mothers allowance doesnt cover even a cheap one. Nice.

Not really, just those that are attempting to fly with or without you.

AnotherEd - Aslong as youre trying to argue if we think soloing is "good" (as opposed to evil) you are arguing alone. I have yet to see anyone to justify their asshattery as doing a good deed. Redlining and TKing is evil, soloing without it, is not.

but a good gunner.. i will keep! they will be given tv shots at everything i would go for when soloing, incl jets.

what i dont understand.. these idiots that say soloing is wrong, you should pick up a teammate even if theyre **** e.t.c have you ever been flown by one of these nubs? do you enjoy dieing every 30seconds and flying so close to the ground you cant tv anything and get shot down by cars, tanks, stingers. i think you guys go in a chopper the odd time on sharqi and play infantry all other times. cos i find these **** pilots/gunners on EVERY server i go on.

That's why you take the pilot seat. As long as the gunner can click the right mouse button to TV in a straight line, all you have to do is line him up such that he doesn't miss.

I'll take a soloer in the heli over a boyfriend team any day, a crappy couple ('scuse the pun) in a heli ruins the game for everyone else (in terms of spawning and dying repeatedly) on their team, esp. when the enemy has a decent heli/jet running.

Gladly.Teamwork is defined by a players conscious choices in order to reach an objective, a conscious choice to group up with other players for a common goal. Teamwork is also about balancing out your partners weaknesses with your strenghts and using your partners strenghts to balance your weaknesses. Teamwork is all about a conscious choice and communication is merely a tool for information exchange. Communication on VOIP is not automatically teamwork.

Have you ever actually tried PR?

Yes I have, I disliked it, and I disliked ArmA too, which is bigger, more realistic. Teamwork in PR is less concentrated and not as intensive. Get a round in Smash and Grab, or VIP-E in SWAT4, youll see how people work as a team, towards a common goal. Amazing to even spectate, its like watching Rock all over again. Not saying that PR lacks teamwork, but its more anonymous than the more "IN YOUR FACE" teamwork in games that are in smaller scale. And I like anything that is in my face, even my buddys ***, the grenades on his belt and me covering him while he arrests a suspect.

Worlds best pilots would disagree with you. Ive flown with a mouse, a keyboard and a JS. JS is superior to them all. Not in every aspect, naturally. But overall. And in the end, its DAMN FUN to fly with a joystick. If someone wants to spend 30 bucks to have more fun in their flight, your comments on its effectiveness in scoring, are pretty damn stupid.
