    Re: Helicopter pilots are under-appreciated

I think of myself as an average helo pilot, but I am a horrendous gunner (I suck w/ TV missile).

If I can communicate w/ my gunner on TeamSpeak then we are usually a force to be reckoned with (I'm sure an ace like Sloi would destroy us, but we do ok for not being full time chopper whores lol).

I usually have the problem of bad gunners and in particular people who can't or won't use the machine gun and this usually happens on Sharqi. Perhaps it's my graphics settings, but I see people running all over the ground and hover/circle strafe and the gunners just sit and stare or try to make 90deg TV shots into the ground directly below us (this never works BTW). This usually forces me to do some kind of ridiculous missile strafing run or get shot down by the Vodnik while waiting for the gunner to wake up.

More on topic, I think the larger problem is that a lot of people with a lot of playtime tend to overlook the jets or helos because there's always a line to use them. Now some of those jet and helo players might be taking a turn at infantry combat and the people that use the jets or helos are still learning even though they have tons of game time. Personally, I'm trying to learn how to fly a jet well. I've got 800 something hours of play time (plus another 700-800 in 2142), but only about 5 hours in a jet because I don't like standing there and waiting for something to crash, holding 'E' and praying that I get lucky and get in first. If a jet or chopper is sitting there unused with no line I will get in and do my best, but consequently I'm not the greatest at these roles.

I dont except teamkills. Please, do not right here as I even mentioned something like that.

This problem, concerning noskilled players beeing able to occupy essential hardware like I posted as an example, is something DICE shoul have figured out.

How many rounds have US been stuck on carrier cause of what I wrote in my last post? Not strange people find j10 powerful when its a bomber cause of incapable players able to even get the jet of the carrier, or smacktards shooting it with eryx.

Its fun to watch Karkand newbies talk about things they dont know about.

Take those 2 hours and practice on SP, then practice some more in servers where you dont ruin the fun for 31 other people. And if you DO go there with a selfish midset, dont expect graditude if people will teakill your butt out of the chopper.

            You mean its not real??

now that i made sarcaism, i think what they mean being aware of your surroundings just like you should if your on foot, tank, what ever the case.
real or not it takes skill, like any other game.

Actually this is probably the most important aspect of being a helo pilot. The helo's pretty fragile and knowing where your threats are and where they come from will keep you alive a lot longer.

A good pilot knows the location of every AA, vehicle spawn, and of course chopper spawn. He knows how long he has from shooting down an enemy helo to when it respawns. He knows what buildings to hide behind and good safe places to camp.

Honestly if I'm on the ground I would rather have a good pilot/medicore gunner over a medicore pilot/good gunner. If the gunner isn't pointing the right way it won't matter how accurate he is. And if the pilot is flying around like it's a sightseeing tour, he isn't going to stay up there long.

The difference between us is that I have several hours ingame, more then most, while you are still on forum and not in SP.

I try discuss issues concerning gameplay, and raise noobs (in its original form) to become Battlefield-gamers. What I write, comes from experience, not my personal statements based on what I think would be a suitable answer in a forum discussion.

I did not say that you should stop playing, but that average-Joe should think twice before he ruins his teams chances. Your post was suited for a reply.

Anybody else been close to crying when seeing someone try
take-off from carrier? And looking for compassion, you realize your on your own, looking at smacktards emptieing all ammo on carrier, before they enter a transportchopper :salute:

i dont care about all that, the simple fact is that you didnt understand my post and decided to write a big long "reply" if you can even call it that, as it had nothing to do with my post.

simply put: im better at being a heli gunner than heli pilot. i dont need your "experience". if i want it, ill ask for it.
