What you are saying is 100% correct... if your at low altitude, if you maintain a high altitude there is nothing they can really do. Points of vulnerability are obviously rearms and repair runs, but If you time those after you gun down the other jet you should be ok.

I know what your talking about chris as far as, catching people when they try to do a split s and climb to do the strato run and run out of after burner, I catch them all the time doing this, you hit the nail on the head on what they are doing wrong, if you have the time to do a split s your too low in altitude, second thing is you dont have to hold after burner you just have to tap it and youll be fine, like I said earlier, there are finer points to this that are essential in making it successful, but if you do it correctly you have a very good defensive maneuver. I usually see guys trying to get up behind me for a lock way before they get there letting me start this before I'm in trouble. As for flying against noobs, that isnt a factor here, I've flown against my freind just trying to see what works and doesnt and he's pretty good. I fly in rubber ducky against some better pilots also, and it works. BTW chris, what you call generic is amazingly simple yet effective.

On another note have you noticed lately some pilots altering their control file in bf2 so they can actuall turn sharper in a F-15 than you can in a J-10? I saw a guy yesterday that could get in a tight turn and be on your six within one 360 degree turn, I thought it was kind of strange so the next round I switched teams and flew as his gunner, he didnt cut his throttle and then gun it to tighten the turn it was just how he turned. So I ask him, "you moddified your control file I see" at which point he says yes. This guy wasnt good mind you because I kept getting behind him and strafing him, even on fushe pass where I killed him over and over with the F-18 and he had a J-10 but I've never seen someone turn like that in playing this game for over a year and a half. Have you seen anyone else pull this crap?
Both yesterday and today I flew against a pilot on wake that exhibited similar "magic turning". I was flying the F35 and a J10 locked me after I bombed a ground target. He was close and I had full after burner + flairs so I figured I could split S up to 850 and run. When being chased I alternate between rear view and fly by view to find any mistakes made by the opponent. While doing this in my first loop up the J10 out turned me and had to correct up as his nose had passed me by a large margin. Typically when I perform split S's I expect to be finished rotating up before getting hit with radar pings and then avoid a missile lock by quickly pulling into the next loop. The J10 then over corrected and I was able to make it to high altitudes and the opposing jet quit pursuing.

Later I just started watching the J10 by flying behind him and above him. His turn rate was absolutely ridiculous. I'm guessing that it was twice what a typical J10 turn rate would be. For every half loop I could complete, he could complete a full one.

Luckily, he was a poor pilot in general but I've never seen a jet turn as sharply. He was also low rank, 2-3 bars at most.

Hoping there isn't some new exploit out there.

Ironically as I am going for my Vet Aviator badge and taking a interest in the how's and why's of BF 2 aviation, I would tend to agree with you. The jets are hard to learn, but once you master them, they can be too powerful. I am talking about game play, not realism.

I think a few changes could be made to tone down their effectiveness, but this really isn't the thread for it.

On a side note, I can give a piece of advice on jets...

When you and some one else gets in the bomber, make sure what seat your in before pressing buttons. I swear I was the co-bomber, but after pressing my alt fire to switch modesl, I killed myself, plus 2 team mates! This was after I went 31-0 in the F-15 on Daquing, which is my current best "no death" jet run. Our team was doing well and there was a "no attacK uncap" rule, which I respect.

nah nearly everything turns harder than an f35, so its no surprise it can more than match every move.

          N2K,
Yes, i was keeping your air assetts down that round, I usually take enemy air out of the equation for a couple of reasons, one of them being people who like to ram helos on purpose with their own personal kamikaze tactics, the other is when they spawn rape our team, I usually return the favor so they cant take off...period. It's not a personal thing, it's just something that gets done once in a while to either buy your wingman time to repair or give yourself time to take out the attack helos without getting bushwhacked by the enemy fighter. If you ask me to stop I've always done so, I think I remember what round you were talking about this was quite a while ago, in any case nice ambush when you shot me down btw, but dont be so bitter about getting shot on the runway. I get shot taking off my fair share and I know it sucks but its how the ball bounces sometimes especially when the ball is made by EA  .

This is subjective to each and every pilot but, If you are in a j10 on wake island and I shoot you down, I have no qualms about keeping you down until we take your airfield, if you were doing what you were supposed to in that j-10 there is no way I would have shot you down, some may disagree and I respect that, but F-35 vs. J-10 is a workout and to keep that j-10 down gives my team a huge window to get to the shore.

All in all, the people who fly jets are a small community but I notice a large portion of that community is extremely hostile to other pilots, WE could all learn alot from each other (hence the thread) N2K there are alot of small things you do that make it easy to sneak up on you in game, similar to what Primor was doing, the minute I told him he stopped getting shot down as much, N2K if you want to Pub or skrim lets do it bud, I just flew with metalica yesterday and adjusted my flight controls due to one of his recommendations and I could turn alot sharper by adjusting my logitech profiler settings, however I couldnt line myself up to hit ground aa or strafe a helo like I used to until the end of the day, kind of frustrating when your used to killing helos at will.

As for super mario and captain buck, you two need to hug and make up or something The point of this thread isnt to flame other players but to help other players get better. I sure as hell dont have all the answers, neither does metallica, Chris_Redfield, but a bunch of us together sure as hell have alot more point of views and answers than just one person, lets try not to hijack the thread pls, and actually try to share information.

          Thank you.

I'm not a newbie pilot. I know exactly what planes can and can't do. The opposing pilot was turning ridiculously sharply. My concern is that there could be a new exploit out.

You almost knew I was the one flying and knew I don't spawn camp because I had kicked you when you attacked the US hanger.

Seemed to me you were afraid of a little competition. Once I got up in the air you were an easy target. I didn't even have to try to shoot you down. But when I took on Metallica, thats a whole different story. The only reason you had killed me the only time in the sky was when I already had taken damage from Metallica. Not only that, I was getting chased by you both across the whole map.

Your just a long line of spawn camping wanna be BF2 pilots.

can someone explain the benefits of the strato-run

on oman i've been flying 500ft, if i see a jet a dive down and engage, my sucess is quite good.

however if they get on my tail when i'm cruising at 500, i pull up to 800 and after burn, go into rear veiw and i dont see no jet bu i've got a target lock on me.

then i get nailed by the plane, that wasn't even there. and i dont think it could catch up for saying i was doing 2000+ mph at 800+ ft.

can someone explain what i'm doing wrong?

you need to go faster cos a missle is chasing you, not a plane.

                      N2K,
Get over yourself, this post isnt about you and your fragile EGO, its about helping others share knowledge on flying jets in BF2. I tolerated your whining and basicaly crying in the first post you wrote. If you have a problem with me taking you out in a game...FINE. But I was coordinating with metalica to shoot you down so he could focus on bombing while I shot you down, over and over and you know what? it worked... Next thing I know I get kicked from the server.

Were you bitter about being taken out of the air combat equation? 1 pilot against 2 pilots, the 2 are more than likely going to win. I was in the fighter and I did my job keeping you off of him. I've been tag teamed by two pilots before while flying with out a wingman and yes... it is difficult to compete in 2 to 1 odds when you are dealing with able pilots.

In the end N2K thank you for showing future pilots how not to act when they get bested by a better pilot, If you get taken down by someone over and over or see them doing something that works try picking their brain and swallow your pride for a second. You could be like N2K and totally burn a bridge or you could have a new wingman.

Now as for you N2k, I'm going to write this one post, and one post only in regards to you and your fragile ego, after that I'm not going address you, respond to you or speak to you having such a lack of tact, respect and just crying like a little girl. Reach down grab a hold and stop crying, and be happy that you shot me down once... Let it go, and ask someone for a hug.

                          Sars99,
Thank you for answering that for him zippor, exactly as zippor said, the jet isnt chasing you its an actual missle. You dont need to look behind you once you get over 700 feet, just stay looking forward and get to 800-850 (820 is cieling I think on dalian) and just stay at that height tapping your after burner, careful turning initially since turning lowers your airspeed. You have to monitor your airspeed, altitude and heading so you dont go too far out of bounds, generally you will fly slower coming back into bounds because you will be short on after burner so use the countdown to try to guage when to start heading back into bounds. It takes anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds to ditch the missles so dont freak out, stay calm. freaking out and making sporatic movements will only hurt your cause. Keep it simple, get to the height, and punch it, stay at that height until the tone goes away. Let us know if you have further questions.

Actually it was more than once, and I don't have an ego. I have gotten my *** handed to me before by real dog fighters.

I don't see a skill in taking down the enemy jet when it's warming up.

You cant cut a corner with a yo yo. What you can use the yo yo for in BF2, is to fight circle jerkers by giving yourself one clean shot per circle. It doesnt really make you turn tighter, it actually widens the turn. However, it does open up a shot.

Nope, I havent seen the tight turn hack. You can tweak your controls, but jet turns because of certain limited and set physical properties. For example, jets turn radius main component is the maximum elevator angle. But those are server sided.

Ive seen jets do funny things when they clip sh!t, but... it can very well be a hack though. Im not an expert, but what if you could tell the server to give you alternate information in loading, and then the server is going to accept it...
