Re: Jet Flying Question And Answer

Does anyone bomb sidewards? On Wake, especially on South Base for some reason, I tend to fly across the island and turn left, and at the same time rotate the plane 90 degrees along its length and drop the bombs. Gotta love the white text

It's quite hard to do but very accurate, all you have to do is do a barrel roll and release the bombs @ 90 degrees or 270 degrees and carry on rolling or straighten out.

Imo it's easiser to find a J10 in the air on Wake and kill it. But I'm not used to Oman, it's really not the same skies.... :S Maybe N2K could give me some good tips here
Oman F-35B vs. MiG is actually pretty close..

They both have their pro's and con's with the handling, and they both have ****ty hitboxes.. with the F-35B being worse.

Basically, keep in mind your advantages over the MiG and remember your disadvantages..

Your advantages are that you have the faster jet up high, and it handles better than any jet up high. So lead them up into the air where you stand a chance.

You also have faster responding controls than *any* other jet, along with the fastest roll rate.

So do alot of manuevers that bring the MiG right up behind you, and utilize your strengths.... You can out-juke any jet, just because of the fact that they can't physically respond to what you are doing fast enough...

IE.. You have someone right behind you, you do a split-s, and in the middle of the split-s you do another 180 and come up the same direction you started.

The MiG will still be travelling the same direction, even if he did see you, it will take him a second or so extra to respond to that.

*WHEN IN THE F-35B* DO NOT.... fly low. You will die.

The whole key to flying in the F-35B and being successful is to find your opponent before he finds you, and kill him before he kills you... you get it?

When you get lock, should i fire as many HS's as possible. Cos when i get lock then lose it, i can sometimes still kill the other jet?

Thanks metallica .. (what's your real name btw? :S)

I know from Wake, that everytime I see a J10, I go to like 6-700 FT. And escaping him, if he spots me. Then I find him again, usual over island or Airfield flag. And I shot him down to smoking with MG, and boom 1 missile and the J10 is dead =D

I'll take down this MiG every dogfight today, I hope hehe. It's only dogfighting I need some little practise with, when using other jets/emeny jets. I'm used to F35B v J10 :p

            Thanks :)

EDIT: If you have a paint drawnin (like Chris posted) explaing that S-split, I'll be happy m8.

Smart pilots, who fly intuitively and then back it up with strategical tracking, will NOT follow your maneuvers through, as it would be stupid. Instead, many of them prefer to slow down, and watch you actually go in one solid direction. Then they just cut through your maneuvers, lock on to you, and blast you away.

Typcai mouse+KB pilots mistake, especially when they arent really experience. No offense.

How do you know you are out of visual range? You might have been spotted. You might have attacked a flag. They might have put one and one together and figured out your direction. They might have spotted you, someone else might have spotted you.

Ugh, youre doing something very wrong if they evade your missiles when they fly F35B. But lets play a little theory game here. My guess is that youre shooting your missiles off simply at such an extreme angle, that they just cant aquire the F35B upon launch.

You strike as fast as you can, areas most profitable to you, and then get the fvck out and go to reload using a non-direct approach. Its simple. You just need to be careful. Besides. Pilots have a life space of 800-1000 metres, not everyone flies low to the ground, visible to all.

It isnt. As a matter of fact, unless you tune your joystick into uber-sensitive, mouse has the upper edge in sensitivity. With KB winning them all. But, you have to lift and re-move your mouse, and most mouse pilots have different flight maneuvers than JS pilots do, and most of those most use flight maneuvers that are fairly easy to track. Thus the myth of mouse being less responsive.

Have a go at my dogfighters guide, it will answer everything you need to know, anything mouse+KB related you get via search.

Simple "practice" is good only to get you adjusted to controls. And of course if you need to learn how to bomb ground targets. Everything else comes from self improvement via experience, via games, via making notes of what you did wrong and what you did right.

Chris i wanna dogfight you, I use mouse and keyboard and i think you would still win but i had a dogfight with metallica which was quite fair.

Can you teach me how to bomb with a JET? Do i use the bomb aiming recticle that is a straight line? the one that swings left and right when i tilt the jet. Or do i use the bomb aiming recticle that is used for the gattling cannon?

theres many ways to bomb and it depends on what angle you come in at and i find it hard to explain because i kinda know what to do without thinking too much.

to bomb when flying level, i reccomend starting a local game on dalian (the j10 will pick up one bomb) and bombing the carrier, try to go for a plane and watch where your bomb lands by watching the rear view. i think as the target reaches just below your aiming circle you drop it. after 10mins or so you will get the hang of it

vertical diving is pretty much just around the middle to the lower part of the circle.

someone else will probably explain it better

Im hardly an opponent to anyone at this moment. I have played this game in spikes since Sep 02, and I mean only a handful of times. Im way below what I used to be.

Im planning to be playing BF2 very frequently again in about a week or so, so we can meet up for a game. I just need those extra 512 RAM and a few other tidbits because last time I quit BF2 was because it just was unplayable for me, that and I moved to a new place.

PM me your xfire, I´ll make sure to add you.

Re: Jet Flying Question And Answer

Sorry about not answering questions for the past 24 hours, work and all... Anyways, I should have said earlier, try to give me about 24 hours to respond to your questions.

As for the F-35 vs. Mig 29, I will say it again... if you fly at around 500 to 550 altitude and you get locked up, fly to 750 to 800 and level out, then tap your after burner, pop your flares if you have to to delay the lock, once up at this level tapping your after burner youll go around 2500 miles an hour, after about 8 seconds the missles will stop tracking you, just maintain the altitude. I use this alot and even if they know what your doing they cant really do too much about it. Consider this your F-35 trump card. So I dont know who it was that said you dont want to increase distance between you and the mig 29 but in this match up it is absolutly false. HOWEVER... if you get caught with your pants down at 100 meters, then yes, you will want to use your fast response times and close distance to lose the schmuck. Remember what I said about using a screwdriver on a nut and a wrench on a screw? this is exactly what I'm talking about, you dont have to bank turn twist at altitude, (K.I.S.S) Keep It Simple Stupid... cruising altitude in an F-35 should be uncomfortably high for begginers.

Heres a couple of ways you can cause your enemy to kill himself when in an F-35. If he keeps trying to follow you at 750 or 800 and he wont stop, fly in a direction north south east or west, now look at your compass on your hud, (you should be a medic or this wont work) now fly until the point where if you bring up your map on your hud you cant see your view angle (white lines marking your field of vision on map) if you cant see what way your headed, neither can he, but hes too busy chasing you to look at this, now if you were flying north, turn around and fly south ACCORDING TO YOUR COMPASS, he will usually start flipping out and stop following you, you have a straight shot back while he needs to figure out where the hell he needs to go. I kill alot of j10s this way, and if hes not a medic he'll die even quicker, watch the top of the screen for a name and is no more to make sure hes dead, this is more of an advanced maneuver so if you dont have the basics like flying at 800 feet without losing control, dont even try this.

Re: Jet Flying Question And Answer

I was the one who said it.

Fact one, if you dont know what youre doing, those upper level stratoruns wont work.
Fact two, they mostly work against inexperienced pilots.
Fact three, try locking on to the flares they release behind them and shoot 2 missiles, even 3, you have a very high chance of one missile hit, this will become even funnier, as when the missile locks on to a target, and loses it, the 375 metre lock distance is off and its lock distance becomes unlimited, limited only by its 15 second lifetime.
And lastly, fact 4, you can do a lot with the MiGs 15 second afterburner, if youre lucky, and can break down the code of the F35B pilot.

This is why I never, ever leave myself to this one option only. I would rather play the maneuvering/outmaneuvering game in high altitude, or scissor games in low altitude, than leave myself to one trick only. It works, sometimes it works the best, but since it really is always one and the same, and youre up against a smart guy, youll quickly see youre out of options.

Yes chris the way I do the strato run is pretty damn meticulous, but your not killing me even if you know what I'm doing, at best you'll have a very small window of time to take me down. I'll be on day after tommorow if you want to look me up, via the stat link in my signature, just see what server I'm in and join my squad, specate me in the F-35... pictures worth a thousand words, and I'm like a monkey Fooking a football trying to get the finer points of this accross.

Chris, I just got off a server where one of the tactics I used was the "stratorun" I didnt lather rinse repeat, but with the F-35 you will pretty much lose any and everyone, I was playing in a 24/7 dalian plant server using that and heres the kicker, its easier to shake them at altitude even if they follow banking left, right then hard in the opposite directions is much easier to lose them while looking backwards. I'd like to clear this misunderstanding up for you so we can better see what works and what doesnt but I stand by what I said 100 percent because it works... IF DONE PROPERLY. However, dont try to lose anyone at 800 feet with an F-18, its definitly the slowest jet but it handles great and is very responsive, im strickly talking F-35, I'd actually rather have the F-35 than the mig anyday, as taking down the mig with the F-35 is rather straightforward missle wise.

on another note, I just got called a hacker all during a round in wake island after that because I was doing the whole strato run thing. I was sweeping for them at 500 to 550 meters, they lock me up, no problems climb to 800-825 and zoom 3000 plus km per hour flying in a circle around the map the missles drop after about 3 to 5 seconds. All I need is one good shot, when they lock me up and screw it up I know they are going back for a reload, and I usually look for them, I'm amazed at how few people use guns in the jets still, I get j-10s at least half way down on health to where only one missle need hit.

Anyways chris, I look forward to flying with you if at all possible.

You wouldnt believe what a smart and experieced pilot can do against stratorunners. Your technique of flying in circles is pretty generic. Now, dont be confused. I didnt say I get every stratorunner every time they do that trick. However, once youve cracked their pattern, you can take them down, or force them to do alternative maneuvers.

Most obvious is the double split-S upwards, flares on as a shield in the rear and head on straight. By the time youre heading straight, youve lost at least half of your afterburners. People in the MiG/J10 still have about 60-70% left. Which means that in 5 seconds or less you will have lost all your afterburners and your speed will drop to much lower than 3000.

Now, combine that with the extra 5 seconds at which the MiG/J10 (J10 can do it with ease, really, MiG is much worse at this), spotted target gives you the right direction, and off we go. Now, we both know the F35B has to turn at some point, and if the spotted enemy jet is still blinking, intercenpting them at that turn is a piece of cake.

There are 3 missile shot opportunities.
                                *The time youre making split-S
*The time youve finished your last split S and are going forward
*The time youre going forward and youve wasted your flares

If you were called a hacker, you probably werent up against good pilots. And stratoruns work best against newbies anyway.

Ive had people do this sh!t on me too many times and Ive been pissed a lot because when youre just too far behind, and foolishly going with his split-S maneuver, man thats aggrivating. Then again, you dont have to go through F35B pilots split S, just spot him and cut corners. Or use the flyby view and follow him in long distance view.

And, as Ive already said, flares are excellent at giving you a shot at high altitude. No other targets but the target itsself.

People probably shot missiles at you way too late, so you had enough time to make sure missiles died.

Meh, main point Im trying to say- there is no 100% foolproof method, unless used against fools.

And as I said, Im probably going to hang around with the TBF2 guys more in the server as Im planning to start playing again. Then again, expect no good flying as Im rusty.
