Goto singleplayer and play Dragon Valley or Dalian Plant and you will learn soon enough.

I would say fly with a joystick but if you can do it with a mouse go ahead its really hard. I have no idea how Sloi does it so well.

        Re: Helicopters.........

I think soloing is logical since sometimes a server is filled with people who dont wanna gun for you or complete idiots that do.

        The downside to soloing..soloing griefers.
The guys that dont care if you can gun, they dont want a gunner and will tk or redline you. Ill never ditch a person that has at least a knowledge of the weapons work and pays attention to AA sites etc..
But if it comes down to a guy who refuses to use the TV and pays no attention to what Im spotting, then yes Id rather be alone.

I wondered how hard it was then made a basic right click, left click, click TV to target, F1. Nearly craped my pants after learning I could have done this 6 months ago. Stay high, watch UAV, hit tanks and Helis from a mile away.
I know some of you pimp the cannon and such solo, but for a heli noober like me getting 50+ points of solo kills with a TV blows my mind.

But like what I said, with the ease of TVing solo and the mindset of "ME ME ME" by a majority of Bf2 players your bound to have guys killing capable gunners since they have become to some degree not needed.

Actually, if you want to talk about FACTS, it is NOT a glitch, as DICE programmed the ability to switch seats into the game on purpose. They did NOT make the abilities to get into walls on purpose. And you do NOT lose AA lock anymore, you still get toned when in the gunner sit, as I have been many times, they changed that in the last patch to appease yet again, the whining little girls.

Anyway, the worse pilots in the game seem to think they are good. All their flippy tricks, and flying nap of the earth, dumb rocketing everything, idiots, you have a gunner, that is his job, to gun. Don't fly like a retard thinking you are gods gift to helos, fly for the gunner, and truely use the most powerful weapon in the game. When I pilot if I have a gunner, I only go for kills that are a matter of keeping us in the sky, I let them kill everything, of course if you are really bad, and TVing infantry, and chaingunning tanks, you may find yourself alone in a chopper, heading rapidly nose down towards the ground.

Actually laser guided missles are the most powerful weapons in the game.

the only thing that is kinda hard in a chopper is to TV and avoid being TV'ed.
                It takes lot of practice.
else: as said, they fly themselves.

Fly themselves eh? Show us your stats: most of the "they're so easy to use" crowd end up being mediocre after all is said and done. Even then, you might simply be one of the few who actually can pilot and gun properly.

Edit: you barely have a 1:1 ratio in helis bud... like I said.

I would agree with you, but stats mean as much as a second coat of paint.

i think soloing should only be used if necessary, i hate when people are soloing on a full 64 player server or if you get in anyway they do that thing where they fly you to the edge of the map and get you killed so they can solo

                      that really pisses me off

That's a common fallacy. Why are statistics collected at all? I'm not simply referring to BF2 either: think about it for a moment. Statistics are useful because they give us an idea of where we stand in different areas and compare with others. Over time, your BF2 statistics clearly show your preferred kits, vehicles, maps, accuracy, performance in terms of K : D... I could go on. Again, over time, they will average out in a particular way so yes, they are useful and meaningful.

Just fyi, a second coat of paint can be remarkably useful depending on the situation.

Agreed, that is a d1ck move. This is a game designed specifically for public play, and the helicopters were built with two seats for a reason. Not everyone has mastered the 1337 skills of some, and if never given the chance will never get there.

Tell that to EVE Online players who are just starting out and will never out-level players who have begun earlier than they have.

For what it's worth, I think any decent pilot or gunner should be given a chance to double-up with someone else if it helps the team.

Statistics are only good for judging players that pub. There'a ton of players that don't care at all about stats, and their best playing is in competition. I personally don't give a ratass *** about my performance in pubs, or my place on the score board, I don't get mad when I am getting owned, I get mad when my team sucks and we loss. Stats don't matter, only the W.

Perhaps if you want the controls to correspond a little more realistically to a real control-stick- invert the mouse controls. That way, when you pull the mouse back, it pulls up, and when you push the mouse forward, the helo dives.

That seemed to be the answer no one mentioned.
