Agreed, that is a d1ck move. This is a game designed specifically for public play, and the helicopters were built with two seats for a reason. Not everyone has mastered the 1337 skills of some, and if never given the chance will never get there.

single player is for practicing not public servers, u dont know how to drive a car?? lets say u dont..............r u gonna go practice out in trafic?? yes if you want to ruin someones day(yes yes I know ull have to practice out in trafic but thats not where you start at\learn the basics)

so dont come in the chopper if u cant gun or fly coz you might cause ur team to loose, practice in single player or low populated servers, I think sloi has been trying to explain this to everyone for a long time but he obviously gave up coz noone listens, I gave up on giving people chances, if u cant gun ull be asked to bail, if u refuse ur redlined, its tough and if u get the choper first Im not gonna TK you(I didnt get that far yet)

Ill probably just let you go if I know you suck, why get killed coz ur pilot cant fly??

Actually, if you want to talk about FACTS, it is NOT a glitch, as DICE programmed the ability to switch seats into the game on purpose. They did NOT make the abilities to get into walls on purpose. And you do NOT lose AA lock anymore, you still get toned when in the gunner sit, as I have been many times, they changed that in the last patch to appease yet again, the whining little girls.

You think fixing the lock break was just to appease whiners? It was a serious issue. Making someone functionally invincible is what breaks a game.

Fly themselves eh? Show us your stats: most of the "they're so easy to use" crowd end up being mediocre after all is said and done. Even then, you might simply be one of the few who actually can pilot and gun properly.

Edit: you barely have a 1:1 ratio in helis bud... like I said.

I have a terrible ratio in choppers too. It doesn't mean I'm a bad pilot. I just don't solo so I rarely get many kills. My gunner rapes infantry with the cannon and takes care of everything else with the TVGMs. I have gotten 80 points in a round while flying and without getting a single kill. In that same round, I died 7 times to AA and J-10s. That must have been hell for my KDR. For my gunner to have gotten that many kills, I must have been doing something right, though. Right?

stand aroudn the spawn point and Tk anyone tryign to take your chopper.
Then once you get it theres two things you might wanna do.
When flying make sure you stay as low as possible, forget the fact that your gunner sees and can gun what is slgihtly under what your view is. There is no reason to fly high enough so that your gunner sees more then the ground 3ft below him or can not engage the opposing chopper ahead and above you.

If you are gunning make sure to never use the TV missle for anything.
If you see an enemy chopper, use the cannon only. Despite what peopel say the Tv missle is unguideable and can only be shot stright ahead at infantry.
If your pilot is spamming "spotted infantry/tank/heli" look the opposite way.
Sometimes just bail out for no reason, keep your pilot guessing why no one is shooting the cannon or Tv missle.

After doing all these things keep respawning at the chopper and trying to get in it no matter how horrible your doing. And by chance if someone does decide to gun for you when your flying, fly them to the red area and kill them since there is no need to use cannons and you can solo fly with Tv missles just as well as without a gunner.

...and you failed to understand my point. I'm not saying that you should practice the basics, or learn how to fly, on a public server. However there is quite a stretch of learning between having picked up the basics and becoming a super-star gunner or pilot. This stretch of learning is only accomplished playing against human opponents. If the self-proclaimed "awesome" chopper guys never play with the guys on their way up, it will take even longer for people to get better.

Perhaps this is the "socialist" Canadian in me talking... :laugh:

I think it's interesting though, that having been a pilot for 2/3 of my time, I could still end up with > 2:1 on my first account.

For what it's worth, I think they should split the stats into gunner and pilot sections: that would make things clearer.

yea but its gotten to a point where i can only trust my friends when it comes to flying\gunning coz if someone else gets in they most likely suck

for example, not looking around, using the attack chopper for transport only and capping flags at the wrong time with the chopper

You mean player base in general or TBF2 player base? BF2 player base indeed is the bigges whining punk parade Ive seen. But its only successful because DICE actually goes ahead and tries to please it. As you can see, most changes are half assed, and loss of FPS is a negative side effect.

I have posted tons of complain posts myself, but Ive always tried to at least formulate the, so they wont look like "Waaaaah, I get killed by this and that, nerf that son of a ditch!".

Now the changes have come to a full stop, and the whiners enjoy IO. If DICE would have made IO within its first patch, I would be playing the game at a comfortable 50 FPS rate. Now I need to buy another 512MBs of RAM just to go past 20...

General populace, but there's no shortage of vagina drip here. It's always annoyed me that people would ***** about breaking the lock by switch seating, but you could, and still can sit outside of ground AA/Essex range and still TV with no problem, yet I think I have seen one post bitching about that. I mean hell, I can't count the times I have/have been camped the carrier deck, just hovering there invinsible, TVing everything before it can move. Of course breaking the lock, which doesn't stop cannons, TVs and .50 cals from tearing you up is what people cry about.

IMO, if there is someone that wants to gun, and you take off without him, even if he sucks, you should be kicked and banned from the server. I am not saying it is not a good skill, but if someone else wants to gun, you should let them. If you do not, then you are a jerk. If nobody wants to gun, then by all means solo.

*EDIT* Btw, it is a glitch, and people complain so much about hotel glitchers, and other building glitches...."Oh they should be stat-wiped" "oh they should be GUID banned" well, if you think any glitches are wrong, than you should think all glitches are wrong, not the ones that give you, personally, an advantage are fine.

Think about it...in reality, chopper pilots don't just jump into another seat...it's about TEAMWORK, a pilot and a gunner. Not one guy by himself because he's a selfish bastage who thinks that the only one to fly with him has to be an Ace or no one at all.
yeah, it's a game...but it's supposed to be about having fun...isn't that why we all buy games?
I've been playing games before there were computers (yeah, I'm old as dirt, so what?) and there's always been those that MUST win or they just won't play. They are the ones who need cheat codes and hacks to make them selves feel good. I'm one of those ones who enjoyes the challenge of doing something hard and becoming better at it over time. I've worked my arese off to achieve ranks, etc. in this game and it burns me to see players TKing each other over Jets, choppers and even certain vechs. I mean, WTF?
If you truely enjoy this game and want to see it last, unlike many other games that have come and gone due to hackers and the like who piss everyone off until they go to another game, then maybe we should all encourage newer players to learn, shoot, maybe even give them tips on how to be better, rather than saying "you suck, get out".
I think everyone needs to grow the f*** up and realize this is a GAME, not real life. In real war there is no respawn when you die, it's brutal and painful and all who particiapte suffer.

I got this game because I thought it would be fun, but the asshatters, hackers and selfish bastages are realy ruining any "fun" for me and many others. In a couple years, methinks this game will be gathering dust on countless shelves because of that.

I have almost 100 hours in a chopper and I still miss....hell, sometimes the tv missle doesn't even update :hmm: .

I do agree that there are PLENTY of times I wish I hadn't picked up some noob that just seems to shoot at anything and doesn't even know about the tv missle. Oh well...this is why I try and play with my clanmates.

Seems to me that, as far as TV missiles and heli's go, there is 2 different categories.

1. Those who can tv solo/with a gunner and are FOR soloing or have no problem with it.

2. Those cannot hit anything, and if given a chance would miss a whole carrier. Those who get killed a lot by other TV-ers and those who crash or get killed by something else due to unsuccesfull dogfight.

Whether you like the teamplay or not, my simple answer is that, you either CAN tv, or you CAN'T.

I dont care if you payed for the game, find another server, find another heli, find another pilot.

OMGGGG You cant do that...u cant fly alone!!!....yes i can..and i will...and i will redline every single dude that shoots his chaingun on a heli i've been positioning for 30 seconds.

Me, and many other good soloers/gunners that i know, learned their skill on single/local servers. DO SO! Do not come to a well populated server, sit in my heli and expect the instructions to begin.

YOU will be redlined momentarily.

As far as the original question, learn the basics of flying through many guides out there, then get used to maps and moving around. Other things will come to you naturally.
When that AA shoots you down, you will know what to do next time, and every time from then on....good luck.
