Re: Talk English or be kicked!

I am Dutch and mostly speak English on servers. Except when I'm with friends and I then do it in a squad. I dont' see any problems here? Admins want to be sure that there aren't any 'mean' things said. And if a Admin can't understand the language they (The visitors who visit his server, where he is paying for) Then I would understand it would be annoying.

Don't particularly see this as a problem in the BF2 community myself. I play mostly on UK servers and have only once joined a squad where the VOIP was being used in French. I just left the squad.

It is more of a problem on Xbox Live mind as Microsoft tend to group UK into EU servers and you get people just chatting in their native language to the extent its distracting and you have to turn off the voice.

Re: Talk English or be kicked!

I've faced this kind of problem a while back, in a 24/7 Wake server.
I found a guy I knew and typed in my language... Next thing I know, I get kicked.

"I have a degree in English", would probably be a better grammatical expression Mr. English Major.

I enforce english in my server for a few reasons. Trash talk should be read by everyone not a couple of jerks who are using their own language in a foreign server.

Second, my sever is in the UK and I play there so there is no communication barrier. If I want to hear French or German I'll go to their servers.

Speak for yourself mate, I play overseas servers all the time, NOT american ones though, European ones, as i still get pings below 50 on most of them.

South Africa speaks Afrikaans not English they just all happen to take English in school.

If I was in the same room as you right now I'd ram your racist teeth down your mother f*cking neck.

I could mention all the non-white people in one of the THREE countries I've lived in.

Example one, London: Segregated communities that refuse to deal with English people.

Canada: Segregated communities who refuse to deal with English speakers

The Netherlands: Segregated non-whites who never learn Dutch.

It goes both ways you racist a$$hole.

I am really starting to hate reverse racism and have come to the conclusion that non-whites tend to be more racist but get away with it as it's the white man who is racist so my ***** *** can say what I like.

Re: Talk English or be kicked!

I live in the US, but I find a number of the severs I get good ping times to are in Toronto or Quebec. So I get a fair amount of French in chat and on the comms. I don't mind it, nor do I expect them to speak english (even if they do understand it. ). I know enough French to know when someone is talking to/about me. I just use the PGUP/PGDN for Yes and No mostly, and when I have to speak, I do it slower then I normally would and make sure my pronunciation is clear.

Yeah, once in a while I get booted from a squad, but for the most part, people are tolerant and try to work with you if you're a decent player and not being a jerk.

The only thing I can think of is making sure they're not talking about their child pornography ring or otherwise being inapporpriate or abusing. Now I'm not saying people who don't speak english run child porn rings or anything like that; since this thread is already getting personal, let me just say that I'm not insulting any language or group of people.

Anyway, it's pretty hard to keep the server clean when you can't understand what is being said. However, I seriously doubt that's the reason these servers only allow english. It's probably a case of children getting to be admins and they go on a power trip.

May be all posts and communications should look like this in the future as to make sure everyone understands. Or maybe, you should stick to server's that speak your language. I don't speak dutch therefore I don't go into dutch servers simply because I can't work in a squad of dutch speaking team members.

May быть все столбы и сообщения должны посмотреть как это in the future о make sure каждое понимает.

I would like to say that having a healthy opinion of one's self and one's country of origin is a good thing. On the other hand, it is far too easy to become Jingoistic and come off as arrogant and rude.

I have had the good forutne to travel some and I will tell you that each region is proud of what they have. If you are a visitor, it behooves you to smile and say thank you instead of curling your lip and stating how much better things are back home. If you aren;t careful, you will find yourself "home" much quicker than you had planned.

To the OP. GET OVER IT. Kicking for NOT speaking a particular language is NOT exclusive to English. If you only speak German and you join a server located in Dallas Texas, what the hell do you think everyone else will be speaking? If you are so ignorant or arrogant to assume that wherever you go, everyone you encounter will be able to communicate with you in YOUR native toungue, well, then you just need to be beat until you don't know your own name. The whole prmise of your original post is absurd on a level that is even above most of the crap seen on this forum during the whole 1.4 patch waiting period. Please, stay home and play local servers and quit looking under rocks for Dragons to slay. Don Quixote indeed.

and thats how it should be, global game or not, i'm very serious about this topic. It's like at work, i see two spanish women talking, but they know english fine, yet they insist on talking in spanish...it is very rude. It's exactly like whispering so people cant hear or understand you.

Now for me I speak fluent Polish and my grandmother doesnt know english, that is when it becomes acceptable.
