    Talk English or be kicked!

I've come across a few servers who adopt a semi-fascist attitude to people who dont speak or type english. Whats up with this? I mean surely they can accept that english isnt the only language in the world, why not let people communicate how they want, it is a global game after all.

But hey there may be a good reason why that i cant see, anyone have an opinion?

EDIT: I've also noticed a similarly intolerant attitude from several members of this form to posts that are misspelt etc. We should be encouraging people from all over to join this thing, not intimidating them!

    right off the bat...

Ok, you are showing the same attitude they are showing because you are expecting them to use your native language. That is like saying, if a dutch player comes and plays on a US server he should speak in English. If you are going to play on a EU server, expect to have to use French, Dutch, or German.

Better yet, do what I do when I go to other servers....don't say anything at all.

    Americans are so ignorant.

      Dont type at all...

I have been on many non-english speaking servers, (mostly german) 40% of them can speak english and respect me, I dont have that kind of problem.

I fail to see the problem here. It's difficult to moderate players actions and chat habits if you can't understand what they're typing.

Well, I know enough German to get in a fight, but not enough to get out of one. I know enough Spanish that I got lost in Mexico, I might make it out alive. But the most important thing is respecting people in their home. What the OP was suggesting was to force his ideas on someone in someone else's house. That is just not right.

Mate, excuse me if i misinterpret this, but I am from England and i've got a degree in english. I am speaking for people who dont speak english too well, and all I am trying to do is say all languages should be accepted on servers.

Personally i dont type much myself, and if i'm on a mic its on Vent with my friends, dont tend to use the inbuilt VOIP.

Yeah, that is what I thought, I recall you being from the UK or something along those lines and I was wondering if I should put the "American's are so..." thing in.

But non-the-less, if you have a Dutch server, and they all want people to use Dutch...not French, and not German, I think they have a right to ask that you use that when on their server. I have seen plenty of times where someone from Korea, China, or Japan are connected to the server here and if they talk in their squad, people are like WTF!?

Yeah, the Engish is unifying commonality on the Internet, but that does not mean that it is the rule!

OK I see your point, and, like Mr. Benis's, i can see the sense in it.

True English is becoming a global language and is many people's second language by now, I am just against the assertion/assumption by some people that everyone should know english or they wont be accepted.

You guys complain about English, I was recently BANNED from a server for not speaking whatever language they were. I really could not tell what it was, I dont think it was dutch...I just can not think of it off hand.

Either way, asked me in broken english if I spoke their language, I said no and instantly was banned.

Re: Talk English or be kicked!

What's wrong with kicking someone who doesn't speak the majority language..?

Sometimes I will just be playing (in a US server..) and some german people or whatever will come in and start talking..

FFS... if you are in a server, and they aren't speaking your language.. chances are if one of those languages is english, then you aren't even on the same continent, so one of those people is going to have 200+ ping.

Why would you want to be on an overseas server in the first place?

Mostly because I can find EF on overseas servers. You sometimes have to take what you can get. But be willing to put up with 'their' rules.

Hahaha, VC, you made me think of an old band I used to listen to back in the day, because of the topic line and your avatar...

Every time I play I find myself wondering this as well.

Personally I wish Europeans would stay off American servers in general.

Nothing against them or their respective countries, but with the way hit detection and client-side prediction is handled in this game, it just gets annoying watching round after round pass right through them.

Pretty much any time I find myself putting way more rounds (at point blank range) into a person than I normally would have to, I press Tab and sure enough, it’s someone with a name like “XXX_Sniper[GER] and a 167 ping…
