    Re: IO and Your Thoughts...

For all the IO haters... I question your motivation for complaining... just avoid IO servers if you dont like them.

You probably avoid your least favorite map... just avoid your least favorite play-mode also.

People care way too much about how other people enjoy their BF experience.

    What happened to tollerance?

Was looking forward to trying it out but it was a medic/support/sniper, prone-jumping (still *sigh*) fest and the exact reasons I avoided Karkand 24 servers like I would pick up a disease from them.

The 2 Karkand maps I played in only one U.S team tried to get past (our squad stopped them) and on the 2nd map when we were U.S we were the only sqd that attempted and got past reviving the sqd leader as we went. Without at least jeeps as transport it just does not work for me. You need some sort of quick flanking ability in many maps to ensure you can suck the other team out.

Its not unexpected that this happened I am just dissapointed DICE ruined a great opportunity to provide another viable mode. Its back to SF for me, hope those who get off on points and very, very boring gameplay IMO enjoy IO but because of its implementation its not for me.

Oh because I do not play the 24 Karkand servers I have not witnessed some of the antics that occur there I am still giggling over the grenade that destroyed the 5 medics who went for the revive on one person next to where I was hiding (as SL). It just summed my opinion of IO up in one amusing image.

I think the hater's philosophy is that they are looking at the grand scheme of things. Not, the immediate satisfaction that most people want out of a game. The big picture they are envisioning is a game worse off than before over a matter of time. And let's face it, the changes made in gameplay will affect how the game is played! Those won't happen a few days after the patch, but they do evolve as everyone is getting used to it. This is what they are predicting/are afraid of, that their game will become something they don't want it to be.

I for one am not a hater, nor am I a lover, i'm in the middle where most people probably are. Yeah, i'll play IO, it's not going to be my default method of playing though. I just have to add that after playing again last night, I had a fun time in IO that wasn't spamming/reviving. (which is the opposite of what I posted from my first experience)

Not for the people who enjoy it it doesnt.

As for the game evolving into something people dont want it to be... that's already happened, as evidenced by changes to prone accuracy, prone/crouch delays etc all as a result of people "evolving" into belly-flopping, prone spamming rambos.

If they really wanted to effect a positive change, they would take grenades OUT of the Supply Ammo bags that litter the floor of these spam spots.

You get 3 grenades and that's it until you die.

And I think that some classes shouldnt get grenades at all.

              Medic, keep nades
              Assault, keep nades
              Support, lose the nades
              Sniper, lose the nades
              Spec Ops, keep nades
              Engineer, lose nades

I understand a change of pace is very nice. But, IO is a punishment for all those *******es that used to sit on karkand and spawn rape with the APC! Those are the ones that caused this whole thing. So, people b*tched that the armor needed to be nixed.

When that type of change being made, for specificly one map, they might end up gimping everyone's grenades because of just the meatgrinder area of Karkand.

It is just that one map that is getting the whole community screwed over! They base all their changes just on all the one-trick-pony players.

This IO thing, does not work on maps like Dragon Valley, Wake, Oman. And then if people get their way with grenades, then all the other players that play on other maps will get screwed because those types of maps do not have a big need for the support kit. So, when people charge a flag, and they are out of grenades from a previous engagement, guess what, the community was gimped because of the 'karkand kids.'

To add on to that thought, DiCE will very soon stop supporting BF2. You people need to pick and choose what you REALLY want fixed because if it does not happen in this next patch (if there is one), then it will never happen period. And whatever happens in this next patch, you will have to live with it for the next [+/-]year.

We as a community are going to get stuck with these changes, like gimping the grenade. Please stop asking for that. Focus on bigger issues like the J10 inbalance, the Engineer's lack of points, or maybe even a Stinger for the AT kit. Beg for these feature changes! Go over to the suggestion threads and see all the stuff that is listed there already! There is a lot of sh*t out there that we need corrected!

I got to play IO for the first time last night and Jalalabab is a terrible IO map. With the extra sprint ability MEC can get to the neutral flag from the Junkyard before the US can. After that it was a nade, sniper, medic fest. I played two rounds and got first and second in them. I was on the MEC and all we did was form a wall from the two spawn points close to the the US Base. They couldn't get anyone by. Also with the the extra sprint as a medic I could run all over and heal people. I think in the two round I had about 18 kills total but have over 90 team points from healing. It was fun for me but must have sucked for the US. I don't care how much team work you have it is almost impossible to run past the enemy when the flags are that far apart.

Sleazell, try it on 16-player size.

                      Re: IO and Your Thoughts...

Here is the thing. Those that like it will play it. Those that don't won't. In my opinion, They really should have left transports in the game. Strip the mgs off of them, but leave them in.

IO has always been a choice if the server owner wanted to go to the trouble of editing the files. Simple fix, but it requires a bit of time. Problem was that those changes would make you play on an unranked server. People who frequent unranked servers fall into a few groups.

                      1. People who only play for the fun and really have no interest in points.
                      2. Clans who need a practice arena for tourney play.
                      3. Glitchers/hackers who need a place to test their new cheats.

That was it! The lion's share of players are always on Ranked servers. From a business standpoint, IO in a ranked foramt would help keep ranked server rental up by drawing people away from unranked IO servers. From a gamer's standpoint, they could have done better. Since there is really no big difference between IO set up and regular BF2, the point hungry, me first bunch will be in abuse heaven. It will be almost impossible for public servers to really run an IO game without having the point chasers ruin the whole experience. Those that enjoy IO will either go back to the way we played it before or start up unranked 1.4 IO servers.

And yes, I did mention points in this post. Not because I am hurt or feel cheated. No, I mention points because the stat whores will never use teamwork on a Ranked IO server to win the map for their side. They will only play to rack up points. Since IO is Ranked now, a Ranked server MUST continue to follow the ROE and there just isn't any rule that allows kicking a player for lack of teamwork.

IF and I do mean IF you luck up and get into good teamwork oriented servers, IO is great fun. Regular old public, come one, come all servers only offer the ugly side of what BF2 can be. I cant stomach those servers.

So in a way, Planewhore and Lazza should get partial concession from those of us that defend IO. They were partly right and I, for one am willing to step up and admit that. The parts of their arguments that are still in opposition to my view just boil down to small differences of opinion or viewpoint.

                      There you go.

Adam Sandler confronts the man (Phillip Seymore Huffman) who runs the phone-sex line that scammed him out of a bunch of money. The guy runs a Matress store somewhere in Texas or something and runs the phone sex shop out of the back room... Sandler goes in there and ........ well... nevermind, just watch it. Its more quirky and interesting than it is "chick flick".

It's got some funny parts but it isnt a pure comedy.
